That includes employee authorized users, for whom cards are free, by the way. New applicants can also earn an initial rewards bonus of up to $1,200.
With those rewards in mind, the Capital One Spark Cash Plus Card’s annual fee seems like a bargain. It’s $150, and the value of the initial rewards bonus covers the cost of Spark Cash Plus annual fees for years.
The Spark Cash Plus business card is not perfect, however. For one thing, it requires you to pay the balance in full each month. Spark Cash Plus isn’t available to everyone, either. You need excellent credit to be approved.
Capital One Spark Cash Plus for Business Review Highlights
Big initial bonus. The Capital One Spark Cash Plus Card offers an initial bonus of $1,200 for spending $30,000 in the first 3 months. That’s one of the biggest cash-back bonuses available from any card, whether business or personal.
Simple, lucrative ongoing rewards. You won’t need to worry about how your expenses are categorized with the Spark Cash Plus for Business Card, as its earning rate doesn’t vary based on what you buy. Instead, you’ll earn 2% cash back on all purchases, which is about double what the average cash rewards card would give you. On top of that, cardholders can earn 5% back on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. Plus, the rewards you earn with this card won’t expire as long as your account is open, and you can redeem them for a statement credit whenever you want.
$150 annual fee. The Capital One Spark Cash Plus Card is neither the most expensive business card available nor the cheapest. In fact, its $150 annual fee is many times higher than the average credit card’s $22.29 yearly charge. However, you can get your annual fee refunded if you spend at least $150,000 that year.
Free employee cards. Spark Cash Plus lets business owners add employees as authorized users and give them cards tied to the account at no extra cost. Employee cards earn unlimited 2% back on all purchases, too, and all the rewards go back to the business. You can also set custom spending limits for each employee.
Excellent-credit requirement. You generally need excellentpersonal credit to get approved for the Capital One Spark Cash Plus Card. After all, your creditworthiness matters a lot more than that of your business, given how personal in nature business cards really are. If you don’t know where your credit currently stands, you can check your latest credit score for free on WalletHub.
Must be paid in full every month. You can’t carry a balance from month to month with Capital One Spark Cash Plus for Business because it is a charge card. But that shouldn’t be an issue because business cards are bad for financing to begin with, since issuers can increase the interest rate on a balance at any time. As a result, you’re better off using a general-consumer 0% credit card for company financing. You can learn more about why that’s the case from WalletHub’s business credit card study.
No preset credit limit. That means the amount you can spend may change from month to month based on your spending behavior, payment history and credit profile. Unfortunately, you won’t be privy to this information, and without a clear limit in mind, you could find yourself at the wrong end of a declined transaction.

It was misleading from the beginning. They say there's no preset spending limit, but you have to approve almost every transaction before making it, and approval is only valid for that day. I originally planned to use it as my everyday card, but then some of my recurring transactions kept getting rejected because the purchase wasn't authorized for that particular day. Customer service was terrible. My account got flagged to review some transactions. I sent the requested documents the same day. When I would call customer service, I would speak with someone who barely spoke English. The customer service representatives would simply try to get you off the phone, often providing false information. I'm not sure if they were poorly trained, but the standard response was to try calling back in a couple of days. It eventually took a full month to complete that review. Meanwhile, my account was restricted the entire time. This happened twice. Both times the documents were submitted on the same day, but it still took a month to review and remove the restriction each time, and it was flagged for the same transactions they had review a month prior. I had to speak to a supervisor, and even then, they seemed poorly trained. Then, without any notice, they closed both my business and personal cards without an explanation. When I called, thinking it was just another restriction, they informed me that I had used the card more than they had expected. They also refused to give me my cash back on the pending purchases from the day before. They stated that their decision was final and the account could not be reopened. It sounded like a good card, but it turned out to be a huge hassle to deal with consistently.

Using the card started out great. I loved the app, spending flexibility, and straight cash back to your bill. The card requires you to pay the balance each month, which is how I like it. I was just marveling at how much I liked this card. Recently, they started denying small charges. I went in see why and the app said to make a payment to see if that helps. The balance is due two weeks from now and is nowhere near where it usually is. I called Capital One and they also said to make a payment. I asked them why - the balance is nowhere near what we usually spend, great credit scores, perfect payment history, etc. The lady on the phone said she is on my side but that's the way things are. I told her that means I can't do business with this card. She said it's Capital One's loss and she understands my frustration. I told her my business Amex cards work the same way but they don't do me like this. I will be canceling the card and moving over the Chase Ink Business with no annual fee. It's embarrassing when employees get their cards denied for a $34.00 charge and the balance is $4000 with a $2000 statement balance. This card has been charged anywhere from $2000 to $12,000 a month without problems until now. The "no preset spending limit" that "changes over time depending on how you use the card" is an obvious problem. I do not recommend this card to anyone.

This card is awful. They reject half the charges for “security reasons” even if they are from the same vendors that have been rejected then approved 100 times before. They also closed my account for “missing information” which was a lie because they refused to let me provide what was missing, or even tell me what it was, so that obviously wasn't the true reason. I have around a 800 credit score, and am excellent in every other qualifying metric for credit cards, so there is no clear reason like that.

Will need to wait and see on this one. We purchase a lot of materials for our contracting business and in the first month had a purchase denied from our primary supplier. Yeah there is no credit limit, but the card will throttle your spending at an arbitrary number! I called and was told that the card would have to learn my spending habits and the amount allowed would increase over time. Well how is it going to learn my spending habits if it will not allow me to spend?! The rep told me to try to charge weekly, then make payments each week on the card and use the spending limit tool each week to determine how much I could spend. That sounds like a lot of additional work just to hope that Capital One will see fit to let me purchase goods for my business. I will give this a try to see if the benefits are worth it, but I have never had to work this hard to give a vendor by business!!

C1 isn't known for giving much credit and it's hard to get a spending limit increase. Some people manage to get higher opening limits than others. C1 has been serving my needs as a beginner to credit. 3 years.
