Austin Energy is a city-run organization dedicated to providing the city of Austin with electricity and water. They also offer a comprehensive online account center where you can manage your account, track your usage and pay your bills.

SIGN UP FOR CITY OF AUSTIN UTILITIES ONLINE SERVICES

If you’ve never paid your Austin Utilities bill online you will have to sign up for their online services by going to the City of Austin Utilities customer portal and completing the steps listed below:

• Click the “Register” button at the bottom of the page

• On the next page, type in your first and last name
• Create a username
• Enter your email address
• Verify your email
• Choose whether or not you want to receive email updates from City of Austin Utilities and click “Next”

• Choose your password
• Choose your security questions and type in the answer
• Verify your email address
• Follow any further instructions provided by the website.

AUSTIN UTILITIES BILL PAYMENT ONLINE

• Go to the City of Austin login page
• Sign into your account

• Go to the bill payment section of your account center
• Choose to make a payment
• Enter your banking information
• Type in the amount you want to pay
• Follow any further instructions provided by the website.

ONLINE QUICKPAY

• Go to the Quick Payment page

• Choose to pay with your credit card or your debit card
• For debit card, enter your account number and phone number
• For credit card, enter your account number and email address
• Follow any further instructions provided by the website.

PAY BY PHONE

• Make sure you have your most recent invoice and your preferred method of payment on hand. Credit cards and debit cards are accepted

• Choose “Quick Pay” from the automated system
• Follow all further instructions provided by the automated system or customer service agent
• Please note that a convenience fee of $3.49 is charged for each Quick Pay transaction.

PAY BY MAIL

• Write a check or money order for the amount you want to pay
• Shove your payment in an envelope with the payment remittance stub from your most recent invoice
• Mail your payment to

• Make sure you mail your payment 7-10 days before it is due to avoid late fees.

PAY IN PERSON

• Find the authorized payment location closest to you on the “Pay in Person” page
• Take your most recent invoice and your preferred method of payment. Authorized payment locations accept cash, check and money order
• Follow any further instructions provided by staff on site.

AUTOPAY

• Make sure you have your most recent invoice and banking information on hand
