REINVENT YouR...
Future... Business... Style... Success... Self...
Reinvent your…you fill in the blank! Right
now, I think just about everyone is feeling
the need to reinvent themselves in a
positive way, and I’m a true believer that
Cookie Lee gives you lots of options to do
just that!
Reinvent is our theme for 2009, and by
now, if you’ve seen the Spring/Summer
2009 Catalog or attended Fashion
Week, you’ve seen that we’ve put the
word into practice by bringing Cookie
Lee to a whole new fashionable level!
This season, the catalog itself is your
“style guide” and reads like a fashion
magazine that gives tips on the latest
looks and how to wear them. Your
customers will see more than ever
that Cookie Lee is at the forefront of
fashion and totally on trend. Plus,
everybody is looking for value, and
the new jewelry screams “value”
with innovative versatility and great
price points!
But as the headline suggests, we’re
looking at reinvention from all
different angles! You can start by
reinventing your style, but you
don’t have to stop there. You can
reinvent your life, your success and
your recruiting by re-evaluating
your definition of a “career” and
rethinking the way you can earn
income for your family. We’ve heard
story after success story, including
Executive Director III Mine Veral-
Burk (see pg. 28), of Consultants
who suddenly had the responsibility
to support their whole family due to
a layoff or family crisis and DID IT
with their Cookie Lee business! You may not be in a
desperate situation, but you can use the extra income
to give yourself financial security and a strong future.
The key is that you have to believe that you have what it
takes to reinvent yourself. You have something valuable
to offer women across the country, but you have to
make the opportunity relevant to them and you have
to be passionate about the jewelry. I recently spoke
to students at the University of Southern California
(USC) about being an entrepreneur and the lessons I’ve
learned along the way, so let me share a few with you:
1. You have to have a goal that is compelling enough to
get you off the sofa each day to work your business.
2. You have to be passionate about what you do—it
needs to get you excited!
3. You can’t be afraid to work hard for something you
truly believe in.
4. You have to set your own priorities and not work
according to someone else’s. Make a decision for
yourself about what’s most important to you.
5. You have to be resourceful and find a way to get
around the challenges—don’t let them stop you or
get you down.
6. Don’t listen to negativity.
7. Find something to set you apart and give you a
competitive edge.
8. Capitalize on the areas of your business that you love
the most, but still work on all the others.
As an entrepreneur, you have the freedom to make
your business whatever you want it to be. Use the tools
available to you this season to reinvent how you look at
selling, recruiting, home shows, your style, your business
and ultimately, your life. I am so excited about this new
season and can’t wait to hear your success stories!
XOXO,

“
My husband lost his job, and I wanted to make
extra money. I went to a home show and saw
that my recruiter made 50% profit, how easy!
As I started doing Cookie Lee, I was able to
put my husband through school and keep our
kids active in extra-curricular activities.
”
— “I” story from Executive Director I Annette Page,
Latrobe, Pennsylvania
Cookie Lee is
“Getting America
Back to Work!”
This is our goal for 2009.
Our business opportunity
has always been about
Cookie’s passion to help
moms be able to stay
home with their kids.
Now, in this tough
economy, all women
are receptive to this
message and your
offer for the hope of
earning an extra $ 200
or more a month by
joining and selling Cookie Lee
jewelry. Remember when the presidential candidates
debated about the definition of “rich vs. middle class” in
America? One candidate said a $ 250,000 a year salary.
The other joked that it was $ 5 million a year. The point
is, in today’s economy EVERYONE is open and willing
to listen to your suggestion to join and become a new
Cookie Lee Consultant. Sure everyone is tightening
their wallets. But if you ask enough people, you will
find a steady stream of Consultants just like Annette
Page (quoted above) who are ready to embrace our
income-earning opportunity. So this is the year that
our company will grow to new heights as we help, “Get
America Back to Work”!
Why Club Med Punta Cana?
There is a reason why this will be our fifth trip to a
Club Med resort. Our Consultants love the delicious
all-you-can-eat food, all free activities and water
sports, entertainment all day and every evening and
this year it’s an all-new facility. Ah, to enjoy the ocean
and the beach at a tropical resort. Punta Cana is in the
Dominican Republic within the Caribbean, and it’s
the hot new destination for celebrities. Even Donald
Trump is building a resort there. But the biggest
reason Consultants love Club Med is that we will all
be together in one happy village. The camaraderie and
fun, along with the opportunity to make new, lifelong
friends and connections are unbeatable. Biggest secret:
the husbands and guests end up having the most fun
of all. Be there.
Let’s beat this economy and Get America Back
to Work!
$ 150
- $ 100 Demostración de Hogar
$ 50
- $ 50 Orden para un compañero de trabajo
¡Felicidades!
ingresar a Cookie Lee.
Saludos!
THE COOkIE CONNECTION | SPRINg/SUMMER 2009

what’s happening
The Cookie Connection is Going Seasonal and Online
In 2009, the Cookie Connection magazine will be going to two printed issues and five
online issues. The two printed issues will be released as Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter
issues, respectively, along with the launch of each new catalog launch.
Why was this decision made?
We understand that this is a big change, but it was a
business decision that we believe will help the company
operate more efficiently. Our first goal is to continue to
provide fabulous jewelry at great prices, and it is also
important for us to give you the tools you need to be
successful. We are excited about the opportunities that
going online will give us now and in the future.
What will be different about the
online issues?
The first online issue will come out in March, followed
by the April/May, June/July, October, November/
December issues. The content in these issues will be
very similar to what is currently included in the printed
issues; including the promotions and recognition.
Some of the added benefits will be:
Ability to forward individual articles, your
promotion, Cookie Tips, etc, to those in your email
list and Downline
Search feature to find specific topics
Increased recognition—no more space limitations!
In the near future, we also plan to add multi-media
features such as video-streaming of Cookie Tips!
What can I expect to see in the
printed issues?
The primary objective for the printed issues is to
maintain their relevance for the duration of the
Spring/Summer season. These issues will be great to
use for prospective Consultants and new Consultants
as the information will consist of big announcements,
important dates, overview of training opportunities,
articles that are relevant to all Consultant’s businesses,
recognition, etc. All Consultants who have been
promoted since the last printed issue will have their
names listed in the most recent issue, in addition to
having their profile and picture published online at the
time of their promotion.
Again, we understand that this is a big change and we
appreciate your patience as we make the transition.
Our goal is to make the online versions fun, easy to
use, and, of course, fashion forward!
thank you 2008 president’s Circle for your dedication!
Our sincerest gratitude to the influential
contributions made by the 2008 president’s Circle
members including Executive Director II Heather
kirton, Executive Director II Anita Livelsberger,
Executive Director II Connie Allred, Executive
Director II kathy Bueter, Executive Director
III Mine Veral-Burk, (Cookie Lee), Executive
as a gift to show our appreciation, each
the unique power to bring the heartfelt
plan to voice the issues and comments of Consultants in the
this company listens to their Consultants
I am so honored to accept this position
and it is an important tool for change and continued growth! I
am really looking forward to the coming year.
The 2009 President’s Circle members have been
What is included in the $ 99 Kit?
The $ 99 Kit includes the Consultant start-up fee, Tote Bag
pieces of current, top-selling jewelry to display in their Tote
The recruiter will not receive any points or incentive
credit for a new Consultant signed up at the $ 99 Kit
option. However, the recruiter will receive points,
incentive credit, etc. if their new Consultant makes a
qualifying Option 1 purchase ( $ 325 retail) within their
first full calendar month. For complete details and
rules, please reference the chart provided online at
Cookie Lee is excited to announce a new startup
option that will allow a new Consultant to
join Cookie Lee for the very low cost of $ 99!
The $ 99 Kit includes the tools they need to do
a catalog show and begin collecting orders to
go toward their first qualifying Option 1 jewelry
purchase of $ 325 retail ( $ 243.75 wholesale).
How does a $ 99 Kit Consultant become a qualified
Consultant?
A $ 99 Kit Consultant becomes a qualified Consultant when
they make their first jewelry order of $ 325 retail or more. The
$ 99 Kit Consultant cannot make their first purchase unless
their order is greater than or equal to $ 325 retail (Option 1)
in jewelry. At the point of this first purchase, they will be
considered an Option 1 recruit. It is important to note that
the Tote Bag and Start-up fee are included in the cost of the
$ 99 Kit and need not be repurchased when their first Option
1 jewelry purchase is made.
A Consultant who joins at the $ 99 Kit option is not eligible
to make their first purchase at 50% off as an Option 2
Consultant. If their order total is greater than $ 325 retail,
they will receive 25% off the first $ 325 and 50% off the
additional amount of their purchase. They will be considered
an Option 1 recruit and count as an official recruit for their
Upline, please reference the chart provided online at
www.cookielee.com—Training— $ 99 Kit Rules.
What happens once the $ 99 Kit Consultant purchases
Option 1?
Once a Consultant who originally signed up under the $ 99
Kit makes their first qualifying jewelry purchase equivalent
to Option 1, they will enjoy all the benefits of a Cookie Lee
Consultant, including:
50% discount on all future purchase
Ability to purchase jewelry in any increment
Nyra’s tips oN
How to Use the
$ 99 Kit for Your
Cookie Lee Business
The $ 99 Kit is not for everyone As the recruiter,
it is important to realize that when you sign up a new
Consultant at the $ 99 Kit option, recruiting becomes a
two-step process. Because you will not receive points or
incentive credit until your new Consultant makes their first
qualifying Option 1 jewelry purchase within their first full
calendar month, it is imperative that you train and help
them collect the orders needed to get to Option 1.
The $ 99 Kit is not for everyone and is certainly not the
best value for a new Consultant starting their Cookie
Lee business. It has been designed specifically for the
prospective Consultant who is eager to start their Cookie
Lee business, but would not be able to sign up unless they
collect orders in advance to make their first purchase of
$ $ 325 ( 243.75 wholesale, in other words Option 1).
When should I offer the $ 99 Kit? The $ 99 Kit
option should not be your first offer during your recruiting
interview. As usual, go through the 6 Recruiting Cards,
present Option 1 and Option 2, and answer your prospective
Consultant’s questions so they can make a decision to join
Cookie Lee. State the reasons why both of these options
will set them up for success as a brand-new Consultant.
If, and only if, your prospective Consultant says they do
not have the money for Option 1 or Option 2, would it be
appropriate for you to offer the $ 99 Kit.
What should I say? Your conversation might sound
something like this:
CONsUlTANT: “Mary, it sounds like the only thing holding
you back from starting your Cookie Lee business today is
the money to get started. Is that correct?”
PROsPeCTive CONsUlTANT: “Yes.”
CONsUlTANT: “Well, Mary, I do have another way for you to
join Cookie Lee that will help you to generate the money
you need to purchase Option 1, it’s called the $ 99 Kit. The
$ 99 Kit comes with your start-up materials and six of our
top-selling jewelry pieces from the current catalog. This
kit is designed for you to show and sell these six pieces of
jewelry as you give out catalogs to collect orders that total
the $ 325 retail needed to purchase Option 1. Does that
sound like something you’d like to do?
PROsPeCTive CONsUlTANT: “Yes!”
CONsUlTANT: “When you purchase the $ 99 Kit, you will
have until (give exact date) to collect $ 325 in orders. And,
I would be willing to give you some tips on collecting orders
as well do a kick-off home show for you! Your kick-off show
could easily generate the $ 325 you need to purchase Option
1, and I’m sure we’ll also be able to book some future
home shows for you as well! What do you think? Would you
like to start now and purchase your $ 99 Kit today?”
Why is the $ 99 Kit a beneficial
recruiting tool?
The $ 99 Kit is a great recruiting tool for those prospective
Consultants who would otherwise not be able to afford
to sign up with you! But remember that when you offer
the $ 99 Kit to a prospective
Consultant, you are committing
to working with them closely
so that they reach Option 1
within their first full calendar
month. This will ensure that
you receive the benefits of a
new recruit for your Group.
When your $ 99 Kit Consultant
purchases Option 1, then
they will officially count as a
Consultant in your Downline.
tips and inspiration from Your Cookie Sisters
I always break my trip goal down into how
many points I need to earn each month. I
make sure I know every way to earn points and
make the most of them. I am always watching
my points and purchasing in $ 500 increments
to maximize purchase points. But most of all, I
keep earning the trip “top of mind”!
kriStiN MCiNtyre, Executive Director I, Fairfax Station, Virginia
I tell all of my friends and I announce at every show that my goal is to earn that trip! Guests
at the shows are amazed that Cookie Lee is “giving away” such a great trip to all of their
Consultants. My hostesses and customers refer me to their friends because they know
how committed I am! When you share your dreams and goals with others,
people will step up and help you achieve your goal!
SHaroN BeaN, Executive Director II, Crystal Lake, Illinois
I love being able to treat my husband to a “honeymoon” every year! With Cookie
Lee we’ve had some fabulous ones including a Hawaiian cruise, Turks and Caicos, the
Bahamas, and most recently, Jamaica! We have become great friends with people we’ve
been on the trips with and have such a fun time vacationing with our Cookie Lee
buddies! Once you go on a Cookie Lee trip, you’ll never, ever want to miss one!
kareN weatHerS, Executive Director I, keizer, Oregon
For the 2009 trip, I changed my voicemail to: “Hi you’ve reached Angie Eaton, Unit Manager II with
Cookie Lee jewelry. I’m out and about earning my FREE trip to Hawaii. ALOHA!” You don’t know how many people
commented on how cute my message was and that they’d love to help me earn it. I’ve received referrals and
orders like you wouldn’t believe!
aNGie eatoN, Unit Manager II, Livermore, California
First and foremost, you have to make the decision that the trip IS something
you WILL earn. Do away with any negative self talk or doubt. Do not allow yourself
to fall into the trap of, “Well, I’ll try and just see what happens”. Make a decision to
do what it takes to earn the trip. Then add a little determination to your “can-do”
attitude and you have a recipe for success.
HeatHer kirtoN, Executive Director II, Everett, Washington
The Dream Getaway Trip is not to be missed because Cookie
Lee and her staff pick the best locations with the best
accommodations and treat us like royalty for the
entire stay. In what other business do you get the fun, rewards and
recognition that we receive with Cookie Lee jewelry? Now, go out
there and book some shows, so we can all be at the next Dream
Getaway Trip together!
Metallic Expressions necklace/
earrings sets on page 44 of the new
catalog. Each set comes with seven
pieces that you can mix and match
both! The catalog shows four of our
favorite combinations with the Crystal
the Filigree and Metallic Expressions
sets to create new looks of your own!
The Charming 5-in-1 necklace/bracelets comes with five bracelets that snap together
to create a necklace. Each bracelet is 7½" long, so you can snap a few
together for a shorter necklace, while wearing a couple as bracelets or you can
wear them all together as a necklace or all separately as five bracelets—it all
depends on how you feel that day! Plus, charms are a hot trend this spring, so
any way you wear yours, you’ll be in style!
Now you can get the hip look of a
How to make a
STATEMENT
Step 1
Step 1: Base Necklace
METALLIC GLAM NECKLACE
Item #89779 $ 39 pg. 53
Start your statement look with a
multi-strand or doubled Cookie Lee
necklace. This necklace will be the
base for the statement look that you
are about to create. When selecting
your base, keep in mind that the
other necklaces you incorporate will
all need to complement this piece.
Step 2
Step 2: Pendant
SPARKLING STARFISH NECKLACE
Item #25932 $ 24 pg. 18
A pendant helps to define the tone of
your statement necklace. Even if your
base necklace is dressy, you can add a
pendant that is more of a daytime look
or vice versa. You just need to select
a common thread in your statement
pieces whether it is the same finish, a
certain color or a theme like rocks or
links. This will keep your look cohesive
and clean.
cutting-edgecookie
Step 3
the hottest spring/summer 2009 necklace trend is all about making a statement without saying
a word! grab attention by layering cookie Lee necklaces into statement necklace combinations.
this signature look can be achieved by mixing and matching your favorite pieces to create
chunky styles that fall just around the collarbone. You’ve seen statement necklaces on the red
carpet and in celebrity magazines, now is the time to try the trend yourself—cookie Lee style!
Step 3: Complementary
Necklaces
AQUA ICE NECKLACE
Item #89757 $ 36 pg. 39
Once you have combined a strong base
necklace and a stylish pendant you have
achieved a statement type of look. However,
to really give it the pop of a truly fashion
savvy statement necklace, you can add your
complementary necklace or necklaces. Pick
a necklace or two that ties into any part of
the look that you have created so far. This
extra item is a great opportunity to add a pop
of color or customize your look depending
on the time of day or the occasion.
Statement necklaces are a great way to update your style and upsell trendy combinations to your customers. Affordable Cookie Lee
jewelry is the ultimate way to try this fashionista trend. Check out other statement necklace ideas in the Spring/Summer 2009 Catalog.
THE COOkIE CONNECTION | SPRINg/SUMMER 2009
take a behind the scenes look at Cookie Lee’s top
saleswoman for the last three years running! From life as
a stay-at-home mom to supporting her family, Executive
Director III Mine Veral-Burk has done it all and done it in style!
She is not only a model Consultant but our cover supermodel for
Cookie Lee’s first Spring/Summer 2009 issue. Mine (pronounced
Min-ay) isn’t comfortable with openly talking about her success.
So, take this rare opportunity to learn her secrets to sales, style
and an attitude that is all about the LOVE!
Behind the scenes with
mine
verAl-Burk!
true love
Jewelry has always been a passion of mine since I was a
little girl. So when I found this company, I was in LOVE! I
joined Cookie Lee about five and a half years ago. A friend
in my neighborhood was doing a Cookie Lee fundraiser
and she knew I was crazy about jewelry. As soon as I saw
the Spring/Summer 2003 Catalog, I loved it and decided to
join Cookie Lee on the spot. I had never sold anything in

my life, and I’d never been to a home show. I went home
and called the lady whose information was on the back
of the catalog and said, “I want to do this.” I signed up
and had my first Cookie Lee show in my own home at my
dining room table. I sold $ 1,295 dollars in jewelry without
letting go of a single piece! I didn’t know any better yet. It
was really love at first sight, and I never looked back! I was
so sure about my commitment that I ordered a license
plate that said “COOKI L” on it right away.
A Fun loving personAlitY
I am from the Mediterranean country of Turkey. People
there are very passionate and fun loving. I come from
a background where I didn’t have much but there was
a tremendous amount of love. My mother was such a
positive, strong and loving lady. I think I get my strength,
positivity, and always having love in my heart for
everybody in this business because of her. So if anyone is
curious, no, it’s not my accent that makes me sell! I don’t
work that angle. Perhaps my crazy personality helps my
sales. However, such a personality is not necessary for
success in this business. I’m a firm believer in that! Love
of this jewelry line and my excitement about it is what
truly sells it for me, not the personality. I try to be the
Consultant I’d want to have in my house, that’s all. I am
not afraid of being goofy. I go around with my tags on
my jewelry, and I don’t care if that makes me look silly if
it helps me sell jewelry.
eXcitement From the heArt
I am simply somebody who is full of love for EVERYTHING
you can think of! I am passionate about life and my job
with Cookie Lee. I live and breathe this business and that
carries over to my hostesses, Downline Consultants,
potential recruits and especially my customers! My
excitement is so overwhelming and it’s not fake, it’s what
I feel from my heart. I believe we have the best product
with the best price range, plus Cookie and John’s heart
and vision to lead the way so I never have to worry about
competition. My best advice is to fall in love with your
product and your company and sales will follow. It’s
always about the jewelry for me, always! Just let your
passion come out for it!
cookie lee For All
Everyone needs Cookie Lee in their life; they just don’t
know it yet, and it’s my job to tell them why! People are
not walking around thinking, “I need to have a Cookie
Lee jewelry show today.” I am a big believer that every
woman needs to buy Cookie Lee jewelry or have a show.
I tell them that they need Cookie Lee and then I list the
reasons why. I tell them that, “Even if you put a single
piece of Cookie Lee jewelry on you’ll look hotter and
feel better about yourself!” Jewelry has the potential to
change the way a woman feels. I say, “I don’t care if you
feel awful that day, you’ll look hot!” I believe in the power
of jewelry and how it can transform the way a woman
looks and feels in her daily life.
plAYing With JeWelrY
Home shows are what I enjoy most in this business, I love
them! When you have a handful of women that are there
just to see your jewelry, the opportunities are endless.
This is where the excitement of this jewelry line spreads
to others like wildfire, passion is so contagious. I try and
create a fun atmosphere at my shows and people respond
so well to that. I am a big believer in putting jewelry
on people, and I insist that they do just that. Always
encourage customers to accessorize based on eye, skin
and hair color. This opens up new doors for them, such
as trying gold jewelry instead of silver. I choose pieces
that are going to look fantastic on them and invite other
guests’ feedback. Once they “oooh and aaah”, I can smell
a sale a mile away! This is why I insist that everyone try
their jewelry on, to ensure their satisfaction before they
leave the show.
stAYing motivAteD
My love for this business and the home shows keeps me
going. It wasn’t a financial reason why I started with
Cookie Lee, but it became a financial need two years into
it. For a while Cookie Lee was the “bread and butter” for
my family, including my husband Alan of 22 years and
sons Jeremy (16) and Justin (11). During that time, I
learned that this job can provide for a family of four and
that was a huge revelation for me! Although there was
a greater need for income when my husband was ill and
having business difficulties, I still feel the need to bring
money to my family and be there for my kids when I am
needed at home. That flexibility was a huge motivator in
the beginning and it still keeps me going today!
WhAt’s neXt
I love that Cookie is so fashion forward! Because of her
and her emphasis on trends, I have become more fashion
conscious than ever before. It used to take me a long
time to try a new trend. Now, I am so into what is new
and hot, and I’m excited for Cookie to bring these styles
to us each season! I can’t wait for our first-ever Fashion
Week and to bring that energy back to the east coast. I
am looking forward to growing with my team this year
and continue to watch them develop and blossom, which
will be my ultimate joy! To know that I had something to
do with other people’s success is an unparalleled feeling.
I want to continue to sell, earn Dream Getaway Trips
with my supportive husband, have fun at my shows, gain
amazing friendships through Cookie Lee, grow, share,
inspire and party with my Cookie sisters!
how to
Overcome Common Objections
When I first started in this business, overcoming objections was a stumbling block for me. I got
better at overcoming objections by practicing! I gained training from Cookie University, Cookie
Lee events, Consultant speakers, and professional speakers like Belinda Ellsworth. I learned that
most objections in this business are brought on by individuals’ fear of failing. So, you need to
prepare what you can say to ease their fears. Be ready and able to answer their questions and
assure them that their concerns will not be a problem. When I did learn how to assure people
in order to overcome their objections, my booking and recruiting numbers really grew! Being
prepared in advance is the best way to do this well.
Although I still get nervous sometimes, I’ve realized
that all you really need to do is listen and find out the
“real” reason someone is raising this objection. Be caring
by listening to their concerns, ask questions about
those concerns, listen to their answer, acknowledge
that you’ve heard them and offer the suggestions to
overcome their objections. It’s the “Feel, Felt, Found
Method”: “I understand how you feel. I have felt that
same way. And this is what I’ve found.” This is a simple
way for handling objections. See below for scripting
examples of how I use this and other basic methods to
overcome objections when booking and recruiting.
Booking Objections: What do you say
when a potential hostess says,
“i’m not a good hostess.”
Usually they’ve had a bad experience if they say this. I
ask, “What makes you say that?” Ask a question back
and hear the “real” answer! The “real” answer may be,
“No one came to my last show.” Then I can let her know
how this show will be different because Cookie Lee is
different. “With Cookie Lee there are no presentations
JoNi kNapp
Executive Director III,
San Clemente, CA
ABOUT THE EXPERT
Joni knapp has been a Cookie
Lee Consultant for eight years and
was previously a dental assistant
for 20 years! She is married to
husband Rick and their son Robert
(19) is a college student. The selfproclaimed,
“Steady Eddie,” has
been on every Dream getaway
Trip since she started with Cookie
Lee and is currently driving a white
Dream Drive-away Mercedes-Benz.
Her proudest honor to date was
being nominated for the Heart-to-
Heart Award at the Fall/Winter 2008
Convention. By next convention Joni
plans to achieve $ 300,000 in Career
Sales, and she’s almost there!
so guests can be social, they take the jewelry away right
from the show and it’s an open house format where
people can come and go. Plus, women love this product,
jewelry makes great gifts, it’s affordable and I offer
deals and raffles!” Simply address their issue and give
reasons why the bad experience they had before is NOT
going to happen with a Cookie Lee show! Assure them
you are going to help them have a great experience!
“i’m too busy to host a show.”
This is one of the most common objections I get. But
I let them know that, “Busy people have the most
successful shows!” This is because they know the most
people to invite. Busy people are used to easily adding
one more thing into their schedule. Let them know,
“It’s not going to take much more of your time than
attending a show. Keep snacks simple, and I will do all
the work. All you need to do is get the invitations out.
I will be there, you don’t need to clean the whole house
just the room we are using and a guest bathroom.” Just
assure them that it’s not going to take too much time
and usually this “no” turns into a “yes”.
“My house is too small.”
Sometimes I get this objection because a person is at
a show at a big house. So, I’ll ask, “How big is your
house?” Then I listen to her answer and try to offer
solutions. I’ll let her know that, “Some of the most
fun shows I’ve done have been in small houses because
they are more intimate.” I tell the story of when I had
my jewelry out on an ironing board, but we had sales
and lots of fun! But, if they really feel uncomfortable
with the size of their house, I will offer alternatives
like having an office show, a show at a neighborhood
club house, at a friend’s house and share the hostess
benefits, at a park during kids’ playtime, at restaurant,
morning coffeehouse or a group event like Bunko. It’s

easier to offer alternatives if you’ve been listening and
getting to know them throughout the show.
“i don’t know anyone around here.”
My response to this objection is, “Hosting a show is a
great way to meet new people! Plus, if you don’t have a lot
in common the jewelry will facilitate the conversation.”
Encourage them to invite their neighbors and coworkers
to “Coffee and Tea with Cookie Lee”. I also mention to
people who make this objection that, “You know more
people then you think you do.” I help them make a list
that includes their neighbors, co-workers or husband’s
co-workers, neighbors’ friends and co-workers, church
members, kids’ friends’ parents…just jog their memory!
Recruiting Objections: What do you
say when a potential Consultant says,
“i don’t have the money right now.”
I recommend that my potential Consultants start taking
catalog orders over the next one to two weeks. That is
the best way to make the money for their initial order.
The $ 99 Kit is a great tool to use in this case as it will set
her up with everything she needs to take these orders. If
possible, I also offer to do a kick-off show for them and
I mention the programs like QuickStart and incentives
that will help them make their initial investment back
right away!
“i need to run this past my husband.”
When they say this I always say, “I can respect that. I
did the same thing.” Then I ask, “What do you think his
questions are going to be, so I can help you answer them
for him.” I also let them know that, “My husband was
skeptical too until he saw the earning potential. If you
would like your husband to call my husband we could
definitely arrange a call?” Then I give a Cookie Connection
magazine so they can show their husband the Success
in Numbers page which has proved to yield successful
recruiting results.
“i don’t have the time.”
I explain that, “The beauty of Cookie Lee is that you can
work it alongside your life.” You can do a ‘Show on the
Go’ just by carrying your Tote Bag or Jewelry Portfolio
(Item #N0802, available through Successorize). Since
you wear your product on your body it’s so easy to work
your business into your life. You make the decision how
far you’ll take it. But, busy people like you really make the
best Consultants because you know lots of people, you’re
out and about, and you know how to get things done! I’m
sure the people that you have supported with your time
would love the opportunity to support you in return.”
Upsell Objections: What do you say
when a customers says,
“i don’t wear a lot of jewelry.”
Identify with their objection. I speak from the heart
and let them know, “I know how you feel, I didn’t wear
a lot of jewelry before I joined Cookie Lee either, partly
because I felt that I couldn’t afford it. But what I have
found is that with Cookie Lee you can try a new style so
affordably, like a $ 20 pair of hoops.” I have had customers
like you who had this objection and then took a chance
and realized how fun it was to try something new and
came back for more and more versatile pieces. They get
hooked and some are Consultants now.
“i’m on a budget.”
This objection is the perfect opportunity to suggest,
“Then why don’t you host a show and earn FREE jewelry?”
Sometimes at my shows, I tell guests my “I” story that
at my first Cookie Lee show I wanted everything, but I
could only buy two gifts because I was on a budget and
that is one of the reasons I became a Consultant. You
could turn that guest into a hostess and then into a new
Consultant. Hosting a show is a great way to share the
opportunity with a potential recruit!
“I only wear fine jewelry.”
I explain that, “The fun part of Cookie Lee jewelry is
that you can mix and match it with your fine jewelry and
no one can tell the difference! Also, if you are traveling
and don’t want to risk bringing your fine jewelry you
can achieve the same look for less with Cookie Lee.”
If they just don’t want fashion jewelry then remind
that person that, “Cookie Lee jewelry makes for great
affordable gifts!”
Try This at Home
Now, it’s all about practicing. Role playing with objections
at Unit Meetings is extremely helpful. Just write up
some of these or other common objections onto pieces
of paper and then divide your Unit Meeting into small
groups. Hand out the objections and send your groups
to different corners of the house to go through their
objection and come up with some possible scripting.
Then have each group present their objection and
responses to it with the group. As a group, you can add
to each answer and help everyone with additional ideas!
I think when you teach something you learn it! For more
ideas and an extended version of this article go to www.
THE COOkIE CONNECTION | SPRINg/SUMMER 2009
how to
Grow Your Cookie Lee
Business into Your ONLY Job
When I signed up with Cookie Lee I was waitressing 30 hours a week on weeknights and weekends
at an Italian restaurant in Maine. I was also a mother trying to stay home with my two baby boys,
Brady was two at the time and Grant was ten months. The waitressing job was difficult to fit into
my life because my husband had to leave work early in order for me to leave for the restaurant
a half hour away. I was never home for dinner, I got home at ten p.m. or later each night and I
couldn’t afford a sitter. I wanted something more!
Working an Inflexible Job
It was always my goal to leave that job so I could do
something I was passionate about and have more
flexibility to be home with my boys. The restaurant
job was just a means to an end. Before I had kids, I had
traveled around the world, graduated college and worked
in marketing with a horrible commute. After having my
boys, I still wanted a career I just didn’t know what I
wanted to do but I knew it had to be flexible. Not only
was the restaurant job something I was not passionate
about, I realized you can only make so much money in a
night, it was mundane, it was physically demanding and
someone else was making my schedule.
Seeing the Opportunity
When I signed up for Cookie Lee I didn’t know what to
expect. My cousin Executive Director II Cindy Brooks
sent me the catalog and it took me two months to call
and say, “I want to do this!” I joined in November 2007
and thought about making Cookie Lee a part time
career until I read the March 2007 Cookie Connection
with Katherine Chrisman and saw the kind of money
top leaders were making. Then, I started thinking big
and thought if they can do this I can too!
tara JoHNSoN
Executive Director I,
Alfred, Maine
ABOUT THE EXPERT
Executive Director I Tara Johnson
is currently Cookie Lee’s 3rd Place
Rising Star and achieved a National
President’s Recruiting Award at
Cookie Lee’s annual convention
in 2008. Within her first year, she
achieved QuickStart and JumpStart
which earned her both the Pink
and Purple CZ rings and two Starlet
glam bracelets. She was also able
to earn the Dream getaway Trip for
her and her husband! She currently
has approximately 70 people in her
Downline and balances it all with
being the mother of two to grant
(2) and Brady (3) with supportive
husband kevin.
Finding the Need
At this time there were also financial worries in my
personal life. My husband Kevin is part owner of a
company that was struggling and we were worried
that we would lose all the money we had invested. The
thought of that was paralyzing. Even when Kevin came
home with this news, I knew there was not a possibility
for me to work full-time job and leave my children. I
thought I had to do something to contribute to our
family’s financial situation. It was within that week
that I signed up with Cookie Lee.
Experiencing a Quick Transition
I started asking for fewer nights on the restaurant
schedule and after only four months into Cookie Lee
I told my restaurant manager that I would like to take
a little break and focus on doing shows. I was worried
that my new jewelry business was too good to be true,
and I would have to go back to what I was doing before.
But I never needed to go back, and I haven’t gone back
since February 2007! Now, instead of waiting on people
they are waiting on me!
Wanting to QuickStart
When I signed up, I hit the ground running. I recruited
my first Consultant from my mom’s office show before
the end of November. I followed the QuickStart Guide
to Early Success and was able to achieve it in my first
three months. By the time I quit the restaurant, I was
a Unit Manager II. I don’t know if it was the title that
made a difference in how quickly I was able to leave my
former job or just how fast my business was growing.
I felt confident in my momentum and motivation to
succeed and those factors made me feel like I could leave
my other job. I had come to realize that in two nights of
doing shows and sharing the Cookie Lee opportunity, I
could make the same amount of money as four nights at
the restaurant.

Building A Downline
Sharing this opportunity and growing a Downline
are essential to make this business your full-time job.
I couldn’t have quit my other job if I wasn’t recruiting,
helping my team grow and earning commission income.
The amount I can do alone is limited but what I can do
through my Downline is infinite! Initially, recruiting
seemed scary to me. But, it’s simply all about loving what
you do and sharing it with others. You don’t have to be
a seasoned Consultant to recruit. You may even have an
upper hand when you are new and excited. People want
to know what is making you so happy. Reach out of your
comfort zone. The risk will pay off. In less than a year, I am
now a leader to 70 encouraging and supportive women!
Setting Goals
You need to know what you want, write it down and
revisit it. If you are constantly looking at your goals,
you’ll remember to take the steps that you need to
get there. Each month I make sure I have at least two
shows a week and I always try to get two bookings from
those shows and tell two people about the business
opportunity weekly. I recommend knowing how much
money you need to make in order to afford to leave your
current job. Then figure out how many shows you need
to book to make half of that and how many people you
need on your team to make up the other half.
Planning an Exit
Before I left my other job, I had to believe in myself and
know I was capable of being successful. I needed to see
that my Cookie Lee income was the same or better than
my current job. I had to see that my calendar was full
for two shows a week (or more) for at least a month
or two in advance. If I saw an opening on my calendar,
that was the first date I booked. I offered an incentive
to hostesses to fill those dates. On my business card, I
mentioned a free gift if they booked one of those dates
I labeled with a star and I put those cards on my Booking
Tree. I was really pleased when I booked two shows a
week. But I was bummed when some got rescheduled.
So, I learned to over-book but not double book. Most
often I just book twice as many shows as what I actually
want. And if I need to, I’m not afraid to schedule two
shows on a Saturday or Sunday (one in the afternoon
and one in the evening).
Promoting at Work
When I was still working at the restaurant, I sold a
few pieces to the women I worked with. I invited all of
them to my kick-off show and that helped with getting
bookings. I also invited the women who work with my
husband. I invited as many work contacts as possible to
that show to help me fill up my calendar to meet my goal
in order to start out full time with Cookie Lee. Working
at the beginning was actually helpful to setting up my
business and enabling me to quit my other job. My coworkers
became my customers and hostesses, and were
great for referrals!
Finding Time Daily
Organize your calendar to make time wherever you can
find it. Carve out time for your business on your lunch
break, after work, while you’re driving, waiting to pick
up your kids, during sports games, kids’ nap time or any
other time during day–to-day life. Keep your business
top of mind by wearing your jewelry and carrying your
Tote Bag everywhere you go every day. The more jewelry
you wear the more compliments you’ll get and the more
chances you’ll have to talk about your business.
Taking Advantage of Tools
There are several tools I used to turn Cookie Lee into my
full-time career. First of all, I use the CLICK online tools
to stay organized and keep in touch with my contacts.
With the help of a friend, I set up a spreadsheet to
record my Cookie Lee sales, costs, taxes, expenditures,
receipts and purchases. If you start organized from the
beginning it is so much easier than trying to figure it
out later! I made sure I had Cookie sisters that I could
trade jewelry with when I needed to. I learned priceless
tips from leaders like Executive Director II Cindy Brooks
and Senior Executive Director Michelle Johnson who
told me to monitor my inventory closely, never buy
more than what I think I can sell and buy inventory
based on how many shows I have booked. At shows, I
use the Hostess and Customer Specials to increase my
sales and bookings. All of these practices helped in my
success and still work for me today!
Enjoying the Benefits of ONLY Working
Cookie Lee
If I had NOT found Cookie Lee I would still have to
be working as a waitress. The benefits of being able to
work only my Cookie Lee business include fulfillment,
empowerment, extra income, staying home with my
boys and being able to afford a sitter for date nights
with my husband and outings with friends. I am so
proud and happy about what has become my career. I
love telling other people what I do for a living. Compared
to waitressing, the money is better, it takes less time
to earn more money, there are more perks with this
company, I get to wear beautiful jewelry, earn luxury
vacations for me and my husband, receive recognition,
make new friends and my next goal is to earn a Dream
Drive-away Mercedes-Benz. This is better than any job
I could have imagined, and I get to call it work! In this
business you truly get back what you put in!
How you stay a
“Jewelry expert” each season!
I’m subscribed to Tiffany & Co., Nordstrom, Macy’s, Spiegel and Victoria’s Secret emails.
This way, when I receive email blasts regarding their jewelry sales or new items, I print
them out and share them with my hostesses and guests at shows. They can then see for
themselves how “in the now” Cookie Lee is with current fashion trends at incredibly
low and affordable prices that fit everyone’s budget!
weNdie Madrid, Unit Manager II, Mission Viejo, California
I purchase fashion magazines like Bazaar, In Style,
Glamour and People Style Watch. I read through,
making mental notes of the upcoming trends. Then
when Cookie comes out with something similar,
I cut out the magazine pages and set them in my jewelry
trays next to the matching jewelry. Customers always want to
accessorize like the pages of fashion magazines.
BoNNie oroNa Executive Director I • Harbor City, California
While at my shows, I try to ask women in three
different age groups what their favorites are, and
what are their likes and dislikes. I especially like to
talk to the younger girls. They give me the best ideas
on tips, trends and their style.
teri BriLLHart Director • Duarte, California
Staying informed of the latest jewelry trends
helps me upsell. I consistently review the Cookie
Connection to see the Cookie Tips, visit the local
showroom to view jewelry tips on display and attend
Fashion Week to see the Cookie Lee models on the runway.
aNa FraNkLiN Executive Director II • Hawthorne, California
I watch my girl friends! I have five of the most
fashion forward and trendy friends, from the hair
to the shoes. I ask my friends what they think about
the jewelry and which items will sell the best—they
are brutally honest! My friends and my love for fashion are
what keep my business alive.
eBoNNe LawreNCe Consultant • York, Pennsylvania
attending convention has helped me grow into
the jewelry expert I am today. In addition to all the
wonderful training sessions, we get to feel and try
on ALL the new jewelry. Plus, just looking around
at all the creative ways and combinations that fellow Cookie
sisters wore was bonus training!
JeNN SMytHe Senior Consultant • Honolulu, Hawaii
Every time a new catalog comes out, I look at our
competitors’ catalogs to see what styles they are
showing so I can share with customers how Cookie
is right-on with the fashion trends and makes a
better quality piece of jewelry compared to all others! This is a
huge plus when comparing the different looks!
LiSHa pLatta Unit Manager II • Corona, California
Compliments give me insights into the preferences
of family, friends, co-workers and the many other
people I come into contact with throughout my
daily activities. I mentally make a note of feedback
for future encounters so I will have extra jewelry that appeals
to the people who complimented my jewelry.
LorraiNe CHaMBerS Consultant • Costa Mesa, California
Each season when Cookie Lee releases her new
jewelry, I surf websites with fashion jewelry like
Nordstrom, Dillard’s and Saks Fifth Avenue. Then
I make a jewelry trend scrapbook to show my
customers the similarities of Cookie Lee jewelry with celebrity
and high-end department store jewelry. I show that Cookie
Lee’s jewelry is just as stylish, but much more affordable.
Carrie Beaird Unit Manager II • Jefferson, georgia
Just listening to my clients and being a people
watcher has helped me over the years. It may
sound simple, but trends are happening right under
our noses. By taking a step back and watching how
women are wearing their clothes, cutting their hair and
accessorizing, I find it simple to fit each and every piece of
Cookie’s jewelry into every day!
success stories
John Lin is a Celebrity
Today was an awesome day! I was in the hair supply store with my two little girls when my
cell phone rang. I answered it. It was CEO John Lin. I was so shocked! I felt like Tom Cruise
was calling me. I was totally freaking out! John told me what a good job I was doing and
congratulated me on achieving Unit Manager II. I was thinking, “Is this for real? Is John
Lin really calling me?” I was so excited after I talked to him that I called all my Cookie Lee
friends, my husband, my mother-in-law and well you get the idea. I felt so special. This
company is so genuine and loving. They treat us like family, and I love that about this
business. I couldn’t be happier working with any other company on earth! I will never
forget that day. I felt like a million bucks!
Fulfilling a Wish
My mother passed away in October 2006 from pancreatic cancer. She was able to have
surgery to give her one more quality year of life to be with us. She had a wonderful doctor
in Pittsburgh who is leading the research at the David Koch Research Center to increase
the odds of survival from this most lethal cancer. My mother’s wish for us, her family,
was to raise money to help her doctor’s research. My daughter told me about this terrific
Cookie Lee show she was invited to and how much she liked the jewelry. I looked into it
and decided that Cookie Lee was a good thing for me. I now sell Cookie Lee and donate
ALL the profits to my newly formed non-profit organization Mellie’s Mission. Selling the
jewelry has helped me with all the start-up costs. It is catching on, too! Now people are
gladly giving me catalog orders and booking shows to support our cause!
A Symbol of Peace
I am a registered nurse and work for a local hospice. I am also dating a wonderful man,
Mark, who works as a nurse for the same hospice. I was looking through Cookie Lee’s
Fall/Winter 2008 Catalog while visiting my boyfriend at his home. I looked at item
#25810 on page 39, the Spirit of Peace Cross slider necklace. Since the dove is a symbol
of hospice, I said, “Look Mark, it’s a hospice necklace.” Mark agreed and asked me to
order 10 necklaces so we could gift them to the other hospice nurses. When Mark took
the necklaces to the office, everyone agreed that they would be the symbol of our often
difficult work. It was decided that our chaplain would bless them and present one to each
of the nurses. I shared this story with my Upline over the telephone. She was moved to
tears as she remembered the help she received from hospice when her mother was ill. We
just never know how we can touch the lives of others in a special way.
Sell What You’re Wearing
I stopped by my customer’s office to visit her. She loved the whole Cookie Lee set that I
had on and ended up ordering $ 280 worth of jewelry! I dropped off her order today and
gave her a Recruiting Packet which she signed right then and faxed in. Don’t you just love
this business!
ask nyra
Dear Nyra,
How can I find new business? I’ve run out of
friends and family. Are there any special ways
to meet new people?
Dear Pamela!
You are not alone! Consultants often run out of
contacts to book new home shows and meet new
customers. Here are a few suggestions on how you
can continually add new customers and hostesses to
your business.
1. F.R.A.N.K. List
Make a “F.R.AN.K.” List of people who you want
to contact to offer our hostess and Consultant
opportunities. F.R.A.N.K. stands for:
F- Friends
R- Relatives
a- Acquaintances
n- Neighbors
K- Kids’ parents
Once you have made your list, keep it handy so you
are always adding new names to these categories.
Begin making phone calls and offer each person the
opportunity to start their own Cookie Lee business.
If they are not interested in joining right now, you
can book a home show with them as one of your
hostesses or offer them an opportunity to purchase
from our catalog.
. Referral Program
Whether you are on the phone or out and about,
remember to end every conversation by asking for
referrals. Your conversation may sound like this:
“Mary, do you know anyone who has not heard of
Cookie Lee jewelry or perhaps lost contact with their
Consultant? I have a referral program, and when you
refer me to someone new for my business you can go
—ON THE PROWL PAMELA
NYRA CARRANZA
on a shopping spree with me.” Be sure to make a similar
statement at all of your shows. Everyone at your show
knows at least 200 people that they can either directly
or indirectly refer you to!
. Out and About
Before you leave the house, be sure you have at least five
catalogs with you. Put a sticky note on each one. This will
make it handy to exchange information with the person
you’re giving the catalog to. Tell yourself that you, “Can’t
go home until all five catalogs have been given out”! It’s
a fun game to play and will often result in sales and
bookings. Your confidence to talk to strangers and offer
Cookie Lee to them will grow as you see their positive
response to our jewelry. When you’re at a restaurant,
don’t give the hostess your name for a table; instead
tell her “Cookie Lee” is the name for your reservation.
Then, when she shouts out, “Cookie Lee party of four,”
the whole restaurant will know that Cookie Lee is in the
house! You never know, you just might find a few new
customers, hostesses or recruits!
Every day ask yourself this question, “If I were
arrested for being a Cookie Lee Consultant, would
there be enough evidence to convict me?” Load your
Tote Bag with jewelry, catalogs and your calendar.
Wear lots of jewelry to show that Cookie Lee offers
stylish looks to the women who wear our jewelry and
you’ll never run out of new business!

I joined Cookie Lee to generate additional income to help my sister go to college. She
is now enjoying her career as a nurse. I have also been in the health care industry before
becoming a Cookie Lee Consultant. Cookie Lee has given me the opportunity to develop
my sales business skills which I never thought I’d be good at. I am now more comfortable in
this area and enjoy, not fear, selling our beautiful product. Additionally, through the great
training this company gives us, I have developed my leadership and business skills and have
had the opportunity to implement them right away with my Group and my customers. This
aspect of my experience has truly been rewarding and fulfilling.
I was a stay-at-home mom, and after three attempts at other direct sales companies I
decided to give direct sales one more shot and try Cookie Lee. I found that the beautiful and
affordable product as well as the convenience of being able to take it with you immediately
helped me be successful. When I started with Cookie Lee three years ago, I just wanted some
adult time with other women. But as I started to achieve success and have tons of fun, I
quickly changed my way of thinking! I don’t feel that there is any real “secret” to selling
Cookie Lee. I think that the women who are successful at this business are the ones who truly
believe in their product, never give up and continue to be pleasantly persistent.
The jewelry is so great that
it pretty much sells itself. But
there are many tips that can help
increase sales. For example, I
find that lighting enhances the
attractiveness and interest in the
jewelry. It is also important to
be organized and show potential
buyers how enthusiastic you are
about the items. It often helps
shoppers to see what multiple
pieces look like together so they
can get a vision for what they
might like to buy.
ROBIN LYNN FISCHETTE
Simi Valley, California
At my shows, merchandising
the jewelry by color, style and
theme helps guests visualize the
possibilities. Then I get busy putting
the jewelry on as many people as I
can. I look at their coloring, discuss
their tastes and show them how
fabulous pieces can complete their
look in a snap! I share as many
features as I can to make each piece
special. Increase your show sales by
having your guests touch and wear
the jewelry!
This business is so simple;
we sometimes make it more
complicated than it needs to be.
Just sell jewelry and have fun
doing it! This is a fresh, exciting
and innovative company that isn’t
limited to a home show. I love the
extra income I am able to make
and the fabulous new ladies I now
know. I’ve enjoyed meeting people
at my shows and working with my
team. Hearing their success stories
and the excitement in their voices
makes me love being a leader!
All the acknowledgement
that we get from Cookie Lee, CEO
John Lin, corporate staff and our
Uplines motivates me to succeed
in this business. With Cookie Lee,
anything is possible! My initial
Cookie Lee goal was just to make
extra money. But now as a leader, I
enjoy being able to help all my girls
succeed with their businesses. I also
have fun meeting all my customers
and talking to everyone about my
exciting Cookie Lee business.
I can honestly say that I have
been truly blessed with an amazing
team. After almost two years in this
for their own businesses has allowed
me to achieve my promotion.
Also, monthly team meetings,
weekly phone calls to my mentor
One factor that I think was
HUGE in my success was starting
this business with a start-up buddy,
my sister Executive Director II
Christina Andreas. We called each
other every night, planning and
strategizing about how we were
going to earn the 2005 Hawaii
Dream Getaway Trip. Then my next
goal was to become an Executive
Director and stay home with my
children. And now, here I am, an
Executive Director and stay-athome
mom!
I wanted self growth and the
ability to meet new people, form
friendships, have more time for
myself and learn new things. I also
wanted to earn my own money to
do projects around the house. I
always have fun with Cookie Lee.
So it doesn’t seem like “work” to
me. I have fun empowering other
women. When women on my
team succeed it is rewarding for
me, too. I am always enthusiastic
about our business!
Attending my first convention
in 2006 was the biggest motivator
that I have experienced. My goal
the next year was to bring some of
my team with me. Now that I’m an
Executive Director I, I’ve achieved
my most recent goal which was
to get one of the chairs up front
with the leaders at convention. My
other big motivator is earning this
great extra income. Becoming an
significantly! Plus, the $ 2,000 ED I
while having fun? I have gained such a great
new part of my “family”. It’s amazing how
many wonderful people this business helps
you meet and connect with!
SHARON LUkE
glen Burnie, Maryland
Presentation is everything. I’ve learned
that having the proper merchandising
materials allows me to set up an attractive
display quickly, which gets people excited
about the jewelry. Then after setting up, the
jewelry sells itself!
CECILIA MACIAS
San Lorenzo, California
I love the monthly Hostess and Customer
Specials! I present these pieces at all my shows
and my customers “oohh” and “ahhh” over
them. I am also a VIP Insider, and I just love
the jewelry from Cookie Lee. My hostesses
and customers just love it, too!
JOELLEN MARTIN
East Berlin, Pennsylvania
The QuickStart program was a huge help
in getting started. It motivated me to reach
the goals and earn all the wonderful free
jewelry and business tools. Cookie Lee is a
great company to work for with no quarterly
minimums, and the 50% gross profit is great
for earning extra money!
JANET MAST
Curtis Bay, Maryland
I have a pretty full life, but Cookie Lee
has brought so many wonderful women
into it that have become my new friends.
My husband and children are my motivation
to succeed in this business, and they are so
supportive of me and my new adventures
with Cookie Lee.
I asked everyone I knew to please have a
show. Whenever someone would compliment
me on my jewelry, I would say, “Have a show
and earn this for FREE!” I also offer, “Bring a
friend and receive one item at 50% off”. This
has been a great way to increase attendance
and sales at any show!
BRANDI NICOLA NAJM
Aliso Viejo, California
I feel a certain sense of success like never
before. Cookie Lee has made me a more
confident woman; knowing I can run a
business and still be a wife and mom to my
family. My success will never be determined
by money. For me, it’s about the time I get to
spend with my family.
MARIE ANgELIQUE NELSON
San Diego, California
This is a wonderful company. So, if a
potential recruit looks like they can sell,
I tell them that they would be fabulous
at this. Most times they say, “yes” to the
opportunity! Having a goal with my business
and in life, and having something to achieve
motivates me.
IRENE ODOM
Sun City, California
I used to work all the time and had no social
life. Now I work AND have a social life at the
same time! My Upline, Executive Director III
Linda Hurley, has always been there for me
saying, “Always be the best you can be and
don’t compare yourself with anyone else.” That
gave me the courage to never give up.
RANELLE PADILLA
Hollister, California
My Cookie Lee business has allowed
me to attend San Jose State college full
time while I complete my Bachelor’s Degree
in teaching. The company and my Upline
both motivate me to be successful by
making me feel special and rewarding my
accomplishments!
IDALIA PADRON
Edinburg, Texas
I decided to join Cookie Lee when I read
Empowering Women magazine. Women can
be good mothers and wives and still have
a career that they can be proud of without
compromising their responsibilities at home.
When I wear the jewelry I feel rejuvenated,
young, glamorous and empowered!
JULES PARITI
Medford, New York
Demonstrating the different ways to wear
an item, layering a look, suggesting matching
items and using my hostess as a model have
all helped with my shows sales. I attended
Executive Director II Connie Allred’s sales
training at convention and she told us that
she offers free gift wrapping and shipping, so
I do that now and guests love it!
MIA REDD
Palmdale, California
I’m so excited about Cookie Lee that
it just seems to be contagious! I started the
QuickStart program right away and talked to
everyone about Cookie Lee. The majority of
ladies who hosted shows eventually signed
up as Consultants, too!
SHERRIE ROBERTS
Chesterfield, Virginia
I never thought I would have my own direct
sales business, but I had never found the right
one for me. This business is easy and fun, and
the company just keeps getting better! With
the incentives and generous Career Path, I
know I can achieve my goals.
CHARA ROBINSON
Richmond, Virginia
After living in South Carolina for eight
years we moved to Virginia. Cookie Lee has
forced me to get out, meet new people and do
social activities that I might not have tried.
As a stay-at-home mom, I also use Cookie
Lee to pay for fun classes and activities for
my son and I to do during the day.

gRACIE RUBIO
Seaside, California
Having been in another direct sales
company years ago, I was immediately drawn
to the beauty and affordability of Cookie Lee’s
jewelry, no presentation and the 50% gross
profit! I recognized the amazing opportunity
right away. And the ability to raise funds for
non-profits in my area is an extra perk.
AMY RUESkEN
Crown Point, Indiana
I believe that success is in the palm of
your own hands. I love the fabulous jewelry,
the friendships I have made and the fun I
have doing shows. I will be forever grateful
to Executive Director I Deanne Hilvert for
introducing me to Cookie Lee jewelry.
DEBBIE RUSSELL
York, Pennsylvania
I tell potential Consultants that they can
have one show or 20 shows a month, it is up
to them. I ask, “Wouldn’t it be nice to pay a
bill or two every month and have FUN doing
it?” Who doesn’t need an extra $ 200– $ 300 a
month? Cookie Lee has given me something
I can own, and it’s up to me to succeed.
LISA SINgER
Studio City, California
Attending my first convention was more
inspiring than I could have imagined. I came
back more motivated than ever, and all my
friends were able to sense that something was
different with me. My newfound excitement
for Cookie Lee attracted more business and
more importantly new friendships.
JOANN SMITH
Asking for help from my friends and
family has helped my success. Don’t be afraid
to ask for help! Women love to help other
women. Be honest, don’t just let them know
what is in it for them, but tell them what is
in it for you as well. Show your excitement
and let it infect those around you.
I can do this business, too! I can stay home
Needless to say, the past year has been
As a teacher with two grown daughters,
I was looking for a fun way to make some
received at other jobs.
LARISSA TAYLOR
I have two sisters in this business with
me, Executive Director II Lisa Perkins and
we motivate each other to succeed. We have
so much fun meeting together in Anaheim,
California, for convention and having that
weekend as sisters!
My daughter and I are partners in this
business, and we believe that “when you
correct. We always go the extra mile for our
hostesses and potential recruits. Every part
of this business is fun, and it doesn’t seem
like work at all.
ESMERALDA TORRES
Indio, California
My husband recently lost his job, and I had
to find a second job. Cookie Lee was my best
option because it’s easy to make money with
the beautiful jewelry and flexible hours. My
8-year-old princess helps me with my Cookie
jewelry for home shows
TANYA TRIPP
Brown Summit, North Carolina
I thought Cookie Lee was like the other
direct sales businesses until CEO John Lin
called me by name, gave me a hug and said,
“thank you”. That blew my mind and really
made me feel special. Since joining Cookie
and more money, too!
MARILYN VALEROZO
Joining Cookie Lee has helped me
new Cookie friends that have given me
Cookie Lee I will me successful because the
jewelry sells itself.
CHRIS VEkONY
Parma, Ohio
The phone call I received from CEO John
Lin for my Unit Manager II promotion showed
me that this company really cares about us.
With well over 100,000 Consultants, he took
the time to call me on a Saturday to thank me
for my hard work and dedication. I’ve never
had another employer do that!
COYLINDA WALL
I decided to join Cookie Lee because I
love the jewelry, and I wanted to supplement
my retirement income. It is so much fun and
easy to be a Cookie Lee Consultant. Also, the
training is excellent and readily available. I
am excited to share the fun and beauty of
my Cookie Lee business.
ALFREADA WALLACE
When I first started this business I set
short-term and long-term goals for myself. As
and believe in myself and this business.
NARDA WEBER
Using the Hostess and Customer Specials
do this!”
CARLOTTA WHEELER
I am very blessed in that I play music for
part of my living. So, I’m always around people
to not only make extra income, but to work
with other women who are striving for a lot
of the same goals that I have.
NATALIE WIDOMSkI
My enthusiasm for the jewelry and my
I use the Jewelry Portfolio as my 50%-off
If they spend over $ 100, they get five items
Spring/Summer 2009 brings NEW Training for all Cookie LeeConsultants
and leaders! This year Cookie Lee is launching the all NEW Consultant
Basics and Leader Basics training programs!
NEW! Consultant Basics
Cookie Lee’s new Consultant Basics will replace what
was previously known as New Consultant Training
(NCT). Whereas New Consultant Training was directed
to new Consultants only, the Consultant Basics program
will provide the basic skills needed by Consultants and
leaders at all levels. The 6 Skills of the Selling Cycle is being
replaced with Consultant Basics. Product Knowledge,
which was one of Cookie Lee’s personal requests, has
been added. Here is a list of our updated Consultant
Basics training: 1) Contacts and Referrals; 2) Booking;
3) Hostess Coaching; 4) The Home Show; 5) Follow-up;
6) Recruiting, and 7) Product Knowledge. This exciting
new training series will provide tips and direction on the
basic fundamentals of our business. And, the best part
is that Consultant Basics will be trained by leaders in
their own areas as they see the need or hear the request
from their Group. No longer will you have to wait for
someone to come in to train, and no longer will there be a
minimum attendance required to schedule the training.
A leader can now present Consultant Basics training
around her kitchen table, living room, in a restaurant
or meeting room depending on the size of the group.
Please note: NCT Online will continue to be available to
all new Consultants in 2009 and will slowly evolve into
Consultant Basics Online by the end of 2009.
09
NEW! Leader Basics
Our other new training program is Leader Basics, which
will take the place of Emerging Leadership Training.
This program will be taught by leaders to meet the needs
of both established and emerging leaders. Leader Basics
will consist of 7 leader basic fundamentals: 1) Incentives
and Recognition; 2) Effective Unit Meetings; 3) Career
Path Reports; 4) Time Management; 5) Business
Opportunity Meetings; 6) Identifying and Promoting
Leaders, and 7) Coaching Skills.
GREAT! 2nd Saturday Training
Cookie Lee will still be presenting our successful 2nd
Saturday Training (SST) series! Held the second Saturday
of every month (excluding August and January) in
Showroom cities, 2nd Saturday Training will help you
maximize the key features of the Career Path, learn how
to train and mentor your new Consultants, and increase
bookings, sales and recruits at your home shows. Plus,
learn new jewelry trends and tips that will help you upsell
and become a “jewelry expert”! SST will also continue to
be offered online as a live recording, go to www.cookielee.
com—Training—Cookie University—SST.
2009 will be a record-breaking year for Cookie Lee as leaders
and Consultants alike increase their income through increased
knowledge! Take advantage of these FREE and fabulous Cookie
