Changes to Courier Journal Saturday print delivery start this week. How to read online

Beginning this Saturday, the Courier Journal will cease home delivery on Saturdays and instead will provide subscribers with a full digital replica of the newspaper.

This decision does not change the Courier Journal's commitment to our community or local, investigative and watchdog journalism.

While the platforms on which people are consuming news continue to evolve, our print newspapers remain a vital and important part of our strategy.

The digital replica will be filled with local news, advertising and features such as comics and puzzles. The new model means subscribers will get newspapers delivered to their home six days a week, with a digital newspaper available every day.

The Saturday digital replica, or e-Edition, will have the same look and news as the printed newspaper. The digital format also has some additional features, such as the ability to clip and share articles with friends and family and adjust the text size.

As part of the changes here are several benefits you will see:

  • UNIVERSAL E-EDITION ACCESS: Subscribers can now access more than 200 USA TODAY Network publications through their e-Editions. Simply go to your e-edition (courier-journal.com/eedition) and select the Universal icon on the right rail. From there, you can choose a publications to read. This access is available through the desktop or e-Edition app. As a reminder, the electronic edition of USA TODAY is also available every day as a bonus section. Watch this video for more information on using the e-edition. Link here.

  • NEW NATIONAL SECTIONS: New to the e-Edition are two daily sections — Nation & World Extra and Sports Extra. This content will be inserted into the e-Edition pages but can also be found in the Bonus section. Nation & World Extra is now appearing with every morning's e-edition, and Sports Extra, the companion section with late sports scores and agate, will launch Saturday, March 5.

  • SHARE YOUR DIGITAL ACCESS: As a subscriber, you can share your subscription with a friend or family member. They will receive their own login and can access it as long as you remain a subscriber. Go to account.courier-journal.com and make sure you are logged in (in the top right corner, you should see a button labeled "Hi *your name*” if you are already logged in. If not, click on the button for “Sign In.”). Next, select your name and go to “Manage Account." In the left-hand menu, look for “Share digital subscription." Click on that and type in the name and e-mail address of the person to share access. An e-mail will be sent to their inbox with further instructions on setting up their own credentials.

Beginning Saturday, your favorite puzzles, advice and horoscopes will have a new home. A new "entertainment center" has been created to house them in one place in the section with comics. The comics will not change but will be cleaner and easier to read.

Some puzzle and game changes to be aware of:

  • In the daily paper: Daily Dear Annie will be replaced by Carolyn Hax. We are also adding 7 Little Words, ScrabbleGrams, KenKen, Boggle Brain Buster, Kubo16 and LexiGo to the daily newspaper.

  • On Sunday: We’re transitioning away from Quote Acrostic and Sunday Plus. Bonus content will include: Kubok16, Sudoku and Jumble.

We are also replacing the daily TV grid with a new What to Watch feature, highlighting the best viewing options of the day.
