In the first run of the course, starting in September of last year, we kept a close eye on things in both contracted services and teaching services, to see how things went with the course. A few issues have arisen, but I’m pleased to say that these have primarily been amended in the new teaching services and contracted services 2015 online course.

First, using the ‘.pdf’ forms for assignments were causing students a lot of grief, namely if they were not able to update the latest version of Adobe. In answer to this, students now have the option of downloading Word document versions of forms for the assignments, along with the ‘.pdf’ option. This already has proven effective and I’m so relieved. It’s weird, because the ‘.pdf’ fillable forms were meant to be ‘cutting edge’ alternatives for students to submit their work with, and they ended up being such a hassle…

Otherwise, there were some little glitches and hiccups in assignment instructions that needed ironing out, and arguably there are still more things that will need to be fixed, but for now, a good deal of corrections have been made.

Lastly, there is still no Key for the workbook gradables, but work is still in progress on a marking guide for the course. I’ve been quite occupied with course development in the last few months, but now that I’ve been freed up, I should be able to finish this.

As usual, if you have any questions or concerns or even complaints concerning the course, do let me know, either by phone, email or the blog comments below.
