Received a fraudulent text over the weekend and replied "NO" when asked if it was me. Received a phone call right after. I shut down my card and went to get a new one first thing Monday morning. I was told the charges were still "pending" and that there was nothing I could do until they posted to my account. They posted this morning. I called and was informed that I have to wait 10 days to review my fraud claim, even though they alerted me to the same charge three times. I feel like something similar happened to me about a year or maybe a year and a half ago with the bank that has my mortgage, and they provided a preliminary credit while they were investigating the transactions. The only reason I opened this account with Eastern was that it's nearby, and they were having a promotion around direct deposits. I might have to rethink this now and find a more customer-oriented bank.

I have had Eastern Bank as my bank for over 10 years; they have helped and serviced me very well, notifying me in advance of any fraud in my account. I was recently scammed by a company that appeared to be Costco. However, it wasn't; the name came up after Eastern Bank notified me of a scam sale on my debit card out of the UK. The bank issued a new card, and yesterday I received my funds back into my account! It made me happy that the bank helped me; it made me feel important. Eastern Bank is my bank, Michael Sciarra.

The tellers and management at Back Bay Bank are excellent; however, the telephone customer service is beyond bad. When I call, I am told others are ahead of me and someone will eventually come to me. After five or so minutes, I am told that if I want to keep my place in line, I can receive a call back. The callback never comes. Obviously, this bank does not put customer service as a priority.

The new online banking system doesn't work properly. You cannot edit a recipient's information online, nor can you look up their address. If the recipient has a change in address or account number, you can only delete it and enter a new recipient. Of course, you have to call the recipient to obtain their address. This has been a significant problem for two months, with no resolution in sight. Whether you visit one of the branches or call customer service, they indicate they are working on it. However, this issue is not a major bug and should have been resolved within a couple of weeks; a two-month delay is unacceptable.

With the new update and switch, it has gone down. Really contemplating closing my account and going somewhere else. How do you do a software switch and not check for glitches? I can't transfer my transactions from my account to my QuickBooks. Their response? "Do it manually." Really?

The recent "upgrade" of Eastern Bank's online banking software has been a disaster. Basic things, like a $500 balance minus a $100 cleared check, equal $200. WHAT? It turns out the running balances, which appear to be incorrect, are actually correct, BUT they don't show or even add up multiple transactions on a single day correctly. The drilldowns on those daily change lines don't work, so there's no proof of multiple payments, even though that's what's actually happening. There's a load of white space on the screen, but very little accurate information. Online monthly statements stopped working completely. Having been a client for 30 years, I was used to downloading them. However, I had to drive to a branch to get my monthly statement, even though the statements appeared to be available online. The download process simply didn't work. It stalled out repeatedly. I figured I'd give them a month to get the software fixed, so I changed my statement option to "paper" to get the next month's by mail. This caused my entire history of electronic statements to be DELETED. Even if a client chooses the "paper" option, statements SHOULD STILL be available to download if the client needs them, say, for a loan application - they shouldn't simply be GONE. Lastly, using an ATM has been a real test of patience for several years. After inserting your card, you still have to sit through ads about how great Eastern Bank is. Isn't using an ATM supposed to be quick? And if I've already inserted an EASTERN BANK card, why do I have to sit through ads for the bank before the actual banking process starts? I'm done. I'm switching. The "upgrade" is still a mess more than 6 weeks later, and I don't need to see more ads.

LOUD and WRONG - Difficult rude and uninformed teller. If you need business services, see the manager. Unfortunately I needed a cashiers check to pay our construction firm. When I asked Belicia if she could help with a cashiers check and withdrawal she replied,”FOR WHAT?!?” When I tried to explain “FOR WHAT?!?” Then she just said,”You need to fill out a withdrawal slip.” This was my first and probably last trip to use banking services. She told me I had to have an in state ID (wrong). I had written down the account number, amounts and gave it to her with my ID and she was still angry that she had to help me and asked me how long I had an account.
At this point she told the manager,”This is a lot of money.” As if she was going to tell me that we couldn’t pay our vendor.”
Luckily the Manager who helped me open the account was there, corrected her errors on policies and Belicia put on a fake smile for the remainder of the encounter. I can’t wait for my debit card and checks to arrive so I don’t have to deal with Belicia and her attitude anymore.

Like many other reviewers, I would give zero stars if I could. Made the mistake of letting these clowns (Braintree) do an international wire. I had provided ALL the necessary information needed from the actual international bank statement. The cash was taken from my account on 6/28/2023. Many phone calls later the money was returned to my account on July 10th (12 days later), less $41.26 and they charged me plus a $40 transaction fee on top. The International Bank charged me for the Eastern Bank mistake and Eastern Bank are not refunding me. I made the mistake of conversing with the manager on 7/10 and he told me we could redo the wire and he would have the paperwork ready for me to sign. All he needed was the bank account number which he would not take over the phone but I could email it. I didn't receive his email before I showed up at the bank. They did not have the paperwork ready and we could not do the transaction as it was near closing time. When I voiced my dissatisfaction to the manager with the whole situation some other little man in a suit was making light of me to the cashiers and thought the situation was hilarious. I soon wiped the smirk off this little tossers face. I inherited these incompetents as they bought out Century Bank and Trust that I have happily done business with for a lifetime. The irony is that I don't ever even want to step inside the bank branch but they have a limit on remote deposits now of $6000. What a joke shop. This bank needs to wake up, not woke up.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I have banked with a number of banks, large banks, small banks, in between. This bank is the worst. Online platform is horrible, low utility. Telephonic service is horrible. In person service, horrible. I am going to move my business elsewhere. It's too bad because I really want to support small, local banks, and I've given this bank several years to get its act together. But this bank is just consistently bad.

They will never get my business. I went to them for a MASS SAVE heat loan only because the heating contractor recommended them and you can apply online. The only thing good about them is they are fast........ to turn you down. Don't bother l guess unless you make a lot of money. Even if you have really good credit it doesn't matter. They don't even do their due diligence and collect the proper documentation. The woman l talked to actually had the nerve to tell me l could try and get a co-signer. I'm a 50 year old man. I haven't needed a co-signer for any loan since like l was 16 buying my first car. And l've had plenty of loans approved. Even then there were no guarantees l would get the loan. So l did what l should have done in the first place and went to my own bank South Shore Bank. It took about a week, and some documentation and l was approved no problems. I don't even think Eastern should be in the heat loan program. They are NOT an equitable bank as they claim.

Been with Eastern Bank for 30 years but just found out that they "MAIL" there bill pay. A bill i was told would be paid by the 13th and it even stated was "Received" by Capitol One on the 13th, actually did not arrive till the 30th, so i got service charge and interest charges. So i can never guarantee a date my bills will be recived the person i spoke to told me that is why they always say "estimated date" even when i reminded her that the bank said it was "received" by the 13th, she kept telling me that is an "estimated date". Not knowing when your payment will hit is way wrong.. and all this time I thought the "bill Pay" system was electronic, and now find out it is just sent through our lovely US Postal service is wrong. I will definetely be looking for another bank.

Can I do 0 stars here? They have cost me And my business so much money Due to missed deadlines over the past Year. My loan officer has been trying to prevent My business deals from going through because she wants my loan balance higher For more interest. It has been tens of thousands of dollars since March that I've lost because of my loan officer at Eastern bank. Tens of thousands of dollars in renegotiations and penalties and fees that I've paid because they have been missing deadlines

Avoid Eastern Bank! They did not process our mortgage payment multiple times, even though the payment arrived at their offices. Eastern Bank charged me a late fee and attacked my credit report. When I asked to correct my credit report, they do not respond. I have spent hours on the phone trying to resolve this, still no resolution. Worst bank ever!

I got transferred from Century Bank. It is night and day. Century was great. I could call and speak with the manager at my local branch for my business anytime. I now have to go through a main number and wait endlessly and then I am lucky if the person speaks proper English and can actually help. CANNOT WAIT TO CHANGE BANKS. What a hassle and shame after 20 very happy years with Century.
