Annual Transit Card Plan Discontinuation

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is phasing out MetroCards and moving to the OMNY contactless fare payment system. If you participate in the Commuter Benefits Program Annual Transit Card Plan, your current card remains active through June 30, 2025. We have automatically updated your enrollment to the Commuter Card - No Admin Fee Plan. Edenred will send you a new Commuter Card, pre-loaded with your exact account balance, by the end of May for your use beginning July 1, 2025.

Your payroll deduction amounts will remain the same, and we will waive the one-time Commuter Card Issuance fee of $2.50. You will need to activate your card when you receive it.

MTA MetroCard Discontinuation

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is phasing out MetroCards and moving to the OMNY contactless fare payment system. If you are enrolled in the Commuter Benefits Program Transit Pass Plan and you only receive a MetroCard product, your enrollment has been automatically updated to the Commuter Card - Unrestricted Plan. You will also be receiving a new Edenred Commuter Card pre-loaded with your exact account balance by the end of April. Your payroll deduction amounts will remain the same. The one-time Commuter Card Issuance fee of $2.50 has been waived.

The City of New York Commuter Benefits Program Annual Transit Card (ATC) plan is no longer accepting new enrollments.

ATC plan pre-tax payroll deductions will continue for current plan participants, and participants can use their Annual Transit Card to pay for unlimited rides on MTA subways and buses until June 30, 2025. The ATC card will not work after that date. To switch to a new plan or to cancel enrollment altogether, log into your agency's payroll portal.

Effective January 1, 2025, pre-tax contribution monthly limits for transit and parking will each increase from $315 to $325

Only the participants with a monthly Commuter Benefits deduction greater than $315 for transit or parking will be affected. By January 1, 2025, FISA-OPA will implement the update for affected employees.
