The WORST company I’ve ever dealt with.

I cannot express how bad an experience I am currently having with Barclays. I’ve been on this earth 36 years, and have never dealt with a company so incapable of completing even the simplest of tasks.

All other banks allow for virtual consults, or phone banking… Barclays continues to insist on using “post only” if you’re not close to a branch - like it’s the 1960s.

If you are thinking of moving to Barclays, don’t do it. Keeping your money under your mattress would be a better option.

I currently have a complaint in with the Financial Ombudsman, who are investigating. They won’t even let me close my own account without jumping through 37 hoops.

Barclays business... Not here to help!

Barclays business... we are here to help. (They claim)

I have an online business and Barclays just decided to block £5K coming from my online business sales because I owe to Barclays just under £1K so I won't be able to pay my bills this month forcing me to get into more trouble.

Not the best way to help customers isn't it??

Shame on Barclays for using likewize…

Shame on Barclays for using likewize company for gadgets insurance, most time claims get denied when they do accept them, they take your phone, it gets repaired within 5 working days of them receiving the phone. If your screen is broken they put screens that you can see through the glass you can literally see what’s inside your phone. I reported to Barclays they said there was nothing they can do about it. Shame on both companies people are spending a lot of money on their phones. If Barclays doesn’t stop using likewise I will be posting it all over social media.

Local branches are a waste of space

What is the point of their local so-called branches? I applied for a credit card and couldn’t get my proof of income to them- every time I tried to upload just got an error message. So, following the advice on their website to take the documents into a branch, went into their Worksop “branch” which turned out to be a small office in a business park and they couldn’t help - They had no scanner (eg a 40 quid printer would do the job) so said they couldn’t do anything with the paper copy I had and their system would not let me email a digital copy to them. Their suggestion was to keep trying or to go to a main branch (which apparently have the luxury of a scanner) nearly 20 miles away. They gave me a phone no to ring to get another email link - no doubt involving endless menus and waitingbut couldn’t be bothered to ring themselves Their website only says these branches can’t do cash and cheques whereas they seem useless for most things. Literally a waste of space

I have lasting power of attorney of my father’s Barclay account which includes Barclaycard. So I have complete access to his accounts yet when I try to close the Barclaycard credit account down I am told I have to send the LPA documents. This makes no sense as I already have full access via the LPA with Barclays. I have spent an hour trying to sort this and have got nowhere. I’m not impressed with Barclays.

Shocking customer service

Shocking customer service. Going round in circles with them. Trying to set up a kids savings account but they are making it so difficult. No patience left, moving on.

Shocking Customer Service.

The advisors on the chat mode of the Barclay’s app seem to be untrained. I never get anywhere on there. Barclay’s you seriously need to sort out your Customer Service or I’m moving.

Sam - Bishopsgate London Branch

Bishopsgate, London Branch - Sam

I went in quickly today with only 10 minutes to get my train from Liverpool Street! I needed to get onto my mobile banking app on my new phone but couldn’t access it due to not having a pin reader! I met Sam and he literally ran to grab me a card reader and helped me set it all up within 4 minutes and I was able to make my train! Big Thankyou Sam!! :)))

Why are your call centers in India…

Why are your call centers in India Barclays?? What happened to the GDPR?? I called your call centre this morning for assistance, after about 15 minutes talking to a robot, I was transferred to a human, the person that picked up had a very strong accent, so it took a while to understand what she was saying, I asked her where she was based and she said India and that Barclays Banks call centre is in India. I did not proceed with what I wanted to do because I just don't trust this. Why are your call centres not in the UK anymore? I will change bank if this is the case.

Don't use Barclays ever

I had 3 payments taken that was not authorised. I phoned fraud at Barclays. They are the most incompetent department I've ever dealt with I first spoke to Akosua who I appeared to wake up and couldn't be bothered. I then rang back and spoke to Habib who put the phone down when informing him that I would like a simple yes or no answer as will be going to the FCA. I then spoke to Diane who was just as unhelpful. She managed to speak to a manager, yet I wasn't able to be able to speak to them. I then spoke to Jack. He was helpful to a point then basically called me a liar. I asked what the fraud department does or is responsible for and he terminated the call. Seems a theme here as I wasn't abusive or raising my voice. I have been so many problems with Barclays over the years. It's my fault for not leaving sooner. I wouldn't bank with them as the colleagues are so untrained and incompetent beyond belief. You should never terminate a call. Especially fraud as the customer is agitated for a reason. Shame on you Barclays as both Habib and Diane did this. I didn't swear or use any foul language either Just an excuse for incompetence.

Barclay's representatives increased my credit limits only to lower them shortly afterward...which very negatively impacted my credit. I spoke with them about this and they had no real explanation.

Worst mortgage experience ever

I just completed my re mortgage with Barclays and it was the worst experience ever. I encountered unnecessary delays from the beginning, the bank forced me to pay more money to reduce the LTV amount of my mortgage as they did not accept a valuation I had from an independent RICS certified surveyor I paid. They gave me a valuation produced by one of their own "trusted & independent" surveyors (without any evidence or the actual valuation report because it was on an non-disclosure basis) which was of course lower than mine and they force me to accept that one on a take it or leave it basis...

Barclays have removed access to my…

Barclays have removed access to my business account along with access to £13,000 of money that is due to be paid out at end of the month. Absolutely no written notice, said they had sent letters, checked and they still had old address on file despite acknowledging that I did tell them 2 years ago. They have offered £100 in compensation but not willing to re open the account or allow access to the money in the account. This now means the end of my business which is the main source of income for my family. Absolutely appalling treatment, I truly feel like just ending it all.

Worst bank ever

We have been trying to open a business ltd bank account with an existing sole trader account already opened. Barclays kept asking for more and more proof each day they would call and ask for something. Worst bank ever, we called and cancelled. All paper work is already submitted, and they dont know what they are doing honestly.

I have just tried to set up Power of…

I have just tried to set up Power of Attorney on my mother's account. I have spent 2 hours on this and got nowhere. I am confident in tech and computers. The web access is poor and the web pages do not link and flow. I class it as a failure when I have to call the helpline and ask how! I had to do this twice and even with the nice ladies help there we failed. Barclays systems cannot even be worked to completion by their own staff. Is that not mad??
It was in the end the phone app authenticator that blew everything out. That was not allowing registration of myself?
The best is now to come......
No other way now to complete this apart from going into branch. OK, so book me in, my appointment is the 10th May 2 weeks away!! I just have to smile now at the service I am getting.
Needless to say when I eventually get full power of attorney my first task will be to say good bye to Barclays.
You are not even worthy of 1 star.

I have been with BARCLAYS all my life

I have been with BARCLAYS all my life, and I never had any dispute of any sort with them. But I had a dispute with AVIVA, when they charged me twice for my car insurance for the SAME car, one for £429-21p the other for £448-00 .I complained to Barclays bank, told them what has been happening. and asked them if they could initiate a charge back or a refund from AVIVA. I was put trough SHAMILLA to deal with this, and what a superb job she has done !! The first thing she did was to cancel my card so they cannot take any more money, and all the money was reclaimed next day!! Just today I also received my new Barclays card . Barclays also have this clever and fool proof sentry card which is brilliant. Thank you SHAMILLA and Barclays for all your hard work.

Barclays bank will only offer you or…

Barclays bank will only offer you or loan or mortgage when you dont need it, 38 years dealing with them, i would not recommend this bank. you can have a 999 credit rating on experien credit report £2 million pounds in property and they will still turn you down. stating you havent passed their own credit assessments. no late payment no ccj no adverse credit.
if youve never failed to repay a loan never missed a payment never late with a payment in 38 years , how can they state you may not pay loan back. Absolute joke of a bank

Customer service is none existent !

Customer service is none existent !! The whole experience is appalling !! No one wants to help all they want to do is send you to a machine, people want to deal with nice helpful people and I am sure that it’s not the staffs fault as they are just following bank instructions so that they can get everyone using machines and then they will get rid of all the banks and staff, I will be closing my my accounts and transferring all my investments from them.
