7 How I started with GMO… With those all ministry involvement from child hood I always asked God to serve him with Media and Internet I learned Computer Science for my Basic Degree… Until CM2007 Students conference in South Korea, I had no clue of how I can start the virtual ministry….

8 After graduation, I joined Ethiopian Telecommunication Corporation as junior programmer…. I found GMO and registered to be an Online Missionary in May 2008…. My INVOLVEMENT WITH GLOBAL MEDIA OUTREACH also helped convince me to leave my work in telecommunications and join the staff of Campus Crusade in Ethiopia in Nov 1, 2008.

21 Being an Online Missionary … It's easy! If you can send an e-mail, you can share the Gospel. It's safe! No one sees your e-mail address and no one can send you spam. You control how many e-mails you receive. You decide how much time to spend online. GMO provides the training and the resources.

22 Just three steps… Register online on www.gmojoinus.comwww.gmojoinus.com You will be asked to provide the name and e-mail address of a spiritual leader who can give a reference for you (such as your Bible study leader, campus staff mentor or pastor). This should NOT be an immediate family member. You must have reliable access to the internet and agree to check your account regularly (at least 2 or 3 times a week). After your application is approved, you will receive a link to the Training Manual.

28 Your Role as an Online Missionary: Pray... – that people would clearly understand the Gospel and make genuine decisions for Christ. – for God’s wisdom and discernment as you respond. Promptly respond to Visitors, within 24-48 hours if possible. Address questions or comments to the best of your ability. Encourage the Visitor to take the next spiritual step – salvation, recommitment, church or discipleship commitment. Ask open-ended questions that encourage them to write back. Help Connect them to the local church and to someone who can Lead them through discipleship. If that’s not possible, then you are the disciple. Equip and Motivate them towards sharing their faith.

33 ARC-Mail Alert (cont’d.) ARC-Mail Inbox button –click on this to see a list of all the messages in your box (see next page). New envelope icon –Indicates a message you’ve not yet responded to, OR... Opened envelope icon –shows that this is a return message from a visitor who has already been corresponded with by you or another Online Missionary. Preferences button allows you to change your personal information or password, and set your own vacation dates (see page 21). Not available in training communities. You can click anywhere on the blue underlined header text to see the first message, but we recommend you use the ARC-Mail Inbox view instead.

34 ARC Mail BOX The Inbox resembles the interface familiar to users of other e-mail systems. This screen displays only OPEN contacts –either brand new messages, or repeat messages from existing contacts. The columns are 1)From (name), 2)Subject, 3)Date Received, and 4)Discipleship. The window can be sorted by any column with a click onthe column header. The default sort order is Date, most recent messages first.

35 ARC Mail BOX To answer a message, just click on the ―From‖ or ―Subject‖ of any message (they may not all have subjects), and you’ll go right to the ARC-Mail Preview window (next page). The Discipleship bar in the far right column is an ―at-a-glance‖ overview of someone’s spiritual progress. It will be filled with colors depending on how they have met certain criteria as entered by you, or as triggered by certain events. For your new contacts, these will mostly be blank. You can click on the ―Disciples‖ icon to see detailed information (this is covered in the ―Discipleship‖ supplement to this manual, which you will have access to after your initial training period).

36 ARC mail Preview This screen shows the entire message from the Visitor, including personal info and any indicated spiritual decision. You can Reply, look at History (past messages), Most important is the Comment/ Question section at bottom. Make sure to address the comment or question when you reply. When you are ready to respond, hit the Reply button, OR one of the topical response buttons (varies by community), OR one of the personalized template buttons if you have them.

37 Once you hit the Reply button, the two-part ARC-Mail Reply screen appears. based on the indicated spiritual decision (Received Christ, Re-committed, Still have questions). The bottom part shows the original message for your reference only. Each window has its own scroll bars (if needed) so you can see the entire message. This system sends messages in plain text mode, so formatting such as font name or size, underlining or bold, will be lost. Don’t use them. Now it’s time for you to make it personal.

38 Reassign button Clicking the Reassign button will open the window below. This feature allows you to forward difficult emails to other volunteers who are equipped to handle them. 3) Finally, click the Reassign button to send. 1. Type your reason for forwarding the e-mail in this area 2) Choose the appropriate bubelow (yours mavary). Use the NO Response Need choice for a duplicate or smessage.

39 E-mail flow and Vacation he system is designed to let you do ministry at your own pace. Let your Community Leader know how many contacts you want and what days you want them. However, the system will send you a warning message when you have not logged in for four days. Therefore you should log in every 3 days at least.

40 E-mail Flow and Vacation If you are about to go on vacation or be away from your computer for any length of time, use the Away From and Away fields in the Preferences screen.
