Bitnami install package for Windows (local Moodle install)

I want to see how moodle works underneath, so I downloaded and installed the bitnami solution from http://bitnami.org/stack/moodle (from amazon.com), a link was on the moodle docs 'Complete_install_packages_for_Windows' page (version moodle-2.6.2-1).

It all works locally on my PC, I can create courses, adjust the settings etc but now I want to try installing different plugins, themes and look at how the Moodle database is structured.

Has anyone else done this and got any tips? or am I asking for something which can't be done?

I've done it locally, but not with your install, which I couldn't get to work years ago. It's a simple process. And most of the plugins give you directions.

Basically, you unzip the plugin and put its folder in the folder with the appropriate name. Themes go into "Themes" and such.

Obviously, turn off your Moodle first. Copy folder into appropriate folder. Turn on Moodle. Login as admin. You will be taken to "Notifications" in Site Admin where you confirm the install.

It really is quite simple, and with a local install, if you *truly* mess up, just delete all and start again.

Practical example. I use Joseph's RegEx question type. As of Moodle 2+, it requires two other pieces. Each time I forget to install the two other pieces, Moodle notifications tells me I'm a fool and it won't run. I go get the two pieces and put them where they belong, and Moodle says thank you and runs.
