Acid basehomeostasisCourse Description:<strong>Human</strong> <strong>Anatomy</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Physiology</strong> is intended <strong>for</strong> Allied Health <strong>and</strong> Science majors. Itencompasses structure <strong>and</strong> function of selected organs systems <strong>and</strong> systems of thehuman body. The focus of this second course is on the cardiovascular, respiratory,digestive, endocrine, immune, urinary <strong>and</strong> reproductive systems. Additionally, thebiochemistry of energy production <strong>and</strong> metabolism are discussed.Remark: This course together with BSC 1085 provides the foundation <strong>for</strong> an underst<strong>and</strong>ing of thehuman body. Most students taking this course plan a career in health care. To anyone planning towork in the health field this class will be the background to a deeper underst<strong>and</strong>ing about yourself<strong>and</strong> your patients. A patient’s life or health may depend on whether you know what you are doing.Additionally, this class will provide the necessary background <strong>for</strong> other professional courses that relyon anatomy <strong>and</strong> physiology. There<strong>for</strong>e, learn as much as you can in this class. You will benefit fromit. Course Objectives:At the end of this course, the student will be able to:1. discuss the anatomy <strong>and</strong> the biochemical <strong>and</strong> physiological activity of the endocrinesystem.2. describe the anatomy <strong>and</strong> physiology of the cardiovascular system.3. discuss the anatomy <strong>and</strong> physiology of the respiratory, digestive, immune, lymphatic,urinary <strong>and</strong> reproductive systems.4. explain aspects of human metabolism, nutrition <strong>and</strong> fluid balance.5. analyze clinical manifestation of pathological conditions while considering normalanatomy <strong>and</strong> physiology of the affected organ system.6. relate the connections between healthy functions of human organ systems in anintegrative manner.Pre- <strong>and</strong> Co-Requirements <strong>for</strong> this course:College level reading <strong>and</strong> writing! All quizzes will have to be completed <strong>and</strong> submitted at 11 pm on thedeadline date.b. There will be a time limit of 30 minutes <strong>for</strong> each quiz.c. There is one attempt only <strong>for</strong> each quiz. So make certain you takethem at a time when you will NOT be interrupted <strong>for</strong> 30 minutes.d.
