HDFC Bank has launched the HDFC Bank virtual credit card through software known as NetSafe. Similar to a prepaid credit card, the virtual credit card is a payment solution that protects the cardholder's personal details such as their credit card number, PIN as well as other proprietary information.
A virtual credit card is one where the physical card details are not used for making a payment. Instead, a virtual card number will be generated for each payment made to avoid duplication or the phishing of information entered when making a payment online.
With the objective of making online transactions safer and more secure, HDFC Bank does not levy any fee or charge for the NetSafe virtual credit card. It is provided free of cost until further notice.
With the aim of making it possible for all individuals to benefit from a secure way to make payments online, HDFC Bank has the following eligibility criteria for the virtual credit card:
You can avail of the card by registering for NetSafe through NetBanking. Follow the instructions on screen to activate your NetSafe account and begin using the virtual credit card.
Yes, you can use NetSafe with both Visa as well as MasterCard credit cards.
The amount as specified will be debited at the time of creating the NetSafe card. Any unused balance will be refunded to your credit/debit account after the card expires.
No, it is not possible to use the NetSafe card to withdraw cash as it can only be used to make online payments.
If you forget your password, simply reset it through HDFC Credit Card NetBanking after submitting certain information such as the credit card number, CVV and card expiry details.
