I am pleased to add to the list of customers who are dissatisfied with this insurance company. My recent experience with them has been dreadful. I encountered a situation in which a tree fell on my house during a storm. Because they are opting to categorize it as wind damage, I am required to pay a significantly higher deductible (over $2,000). The tree expert that they sent to my home states that it was not due to wind, but they refuse to heed his opinion. The claims adjuster, Jordan Thomas, and his manager, Jared Matthiesen, were of no assistance. The claims adjuster never replied to emails or voicemails. The manager merely upheld the company's stance to prevent the insurance company from having to pay a larger share of the costs. I spent the majority of my time pursuing the claims adjuster for answers regarding my claim. They then closed my claim without as much as an email or a letter. They claimed that they paid two vendors for work done on my house and for tree removal services, but neither vendor has received payment. I will definitely be switching to another insurance company.

I am so glad to hear from others how poor the service is for them as well. I cancelled my homeowners coverage back in early January and was told three times by different agents, over a six-week period, that my $8,000 refund was "in the mail." However, they would not nor could they offer any proof that one was even sent out. As a result, my mortgage payment jumped $600.00 to cover the shortage this company has created by withholding my money. Stay away from this network of insurers; it isn't worth it.
P.S. A complaint was filed with my state insurance board and NICA. I wonder how much good that's going to do. It's an agency funded to protect carriers against fraudulent homeowners who are forced to carry coverage.

Homesite Insurance is truly a scam. If anyone wants to start a class-action suit, we are seriously thinking about filing one. This is ridiculous—no communication—we have had six different agents and no one knows what is going on. The claim starts over every few months and they need all the papers again. We have been lied to; we filed a lightning claim and they found wind damage. One agent told us to take pictures and we could throw away the damaged property. Now they say they need a strike check to come out. It has been almost a year and we get letters saying they are trying, but they aren't denying or approving. This is a complete nightmare.

Horrible home insurance company compared to other companies. After 12 months, my insurance went from $3,200 to $5,800 a year. I would keep shopping around.

BUYERS BEWARE They hired a company to come in and clean up water damage. The workers stole belongings from rooms that were not affected. Then they denied the claim for thousands of dollars of stolen property. They only completed half the work needed to restore my house. Subsequently, they raised my insurance to over four thousand a year. My house payment went up by over 450 a month. They have disrupted my life since I'm disabled and on a fixed income, and now I'm having a hard time making my house payment, which I've never been late on in over ten years. This company needs to be investigated by the insurance commission. Call your senator, congressman, and insurance commission.

I regret to share my extremely unsatisfactory experience with CONNECT, Powered by American Family Insurance, underwritten by Homesite Insurance Company Of The Midwest. Switching my policies to them in May has been nothing short of a nightmare.
The agent, Angell Richards, failed to disclose crucial information about a separate deductible and a non-recoverable depreciation policy. Furthermore, my insurance information wasn't updated with my mortgage companies, and she neglected to communicate the necessary paperwork for my vehicle insurance, leading to the cancellation of two policies. Rectifying these oversights required hours on the phone, intervention from a supervisor, and persistence to reinstate my policies.
Recently, when filing a claim for my roof, I discovered a $6,620 deductible instead of the communicated $1,000. The insurance coverage provided a mere $2,709.06 for a $22,596.97 roof repair, coupled with a refusal to cover $13,018.93 in depreciation. My roofer, a reputable professional with a significant track record and extensive experience, deems this a scam, highlighting that only 2% of homeowners have a non-recoverable depreciation policy. He expressed astonishment at the unusually high deductible and the presence of non-recoverable depreciation policies.
Compounding my frustration, Kyera Dalton Eloie, the Claims TPA Property Independent Adjuster for Homesite Insurance, neglected to call and explain the claim decision letter. She approved it and mailed me a check.
When I called her, she told me to calm down, called me “sweetheart” and started that it’s not her fault. It’s my policy. I told her that I do not accept the payment and I want the claim closed. Kyera refused to close my claim. She said that it will remain open even if I do not accept/cash the check. Now my claim history will be tarnished without my consent or acceptance the claim and payment. How is this legal?
I have placed a call to her supervisor, Patty, who is of course, out of the office.
This entire experience has raised serious concerns about the integrity of CONNECT and the practices of American Family Insurance and Homesite Insurance Company Of The Midwest. It is disheartening to contemplate that such companies can legally engage in what appears to be deceptive and unfair treatment of their customers. I strongly advise not considering CONNECT for any insurance needs.
I wish I was never solicited their information by Costco. It is truly inconceivable for companies to operate without accountability, particularly during periods when consumers are grappling with significant stress and losses.

I have been going through my claim for over six months now, and every step of the way has been painful, to say the least. My claims adjuster, Acquina Carbin, has a poor attitude and seems to struggle with her job responsibilities. Let me explain: concerning her attitude, she has been difficult over the phone with my water restoration company, the abatement company, and me. The abatement company was quite upset about the situation once the tension arose. I reported this to the supervisor, who has been mostly helpful, apart from continuing to assign Acquina to my case.
My claims adjuster kept requesting additional information each time we supplied it, necessitating repeated calls to the supervisor to manage the issue. Even with the final part of the process, my contractor sent two detailed summaries to Acquina, and she responded that she needed more information and did not understand what had been provided. My contractor, with previous experience with Homesite, echoed that Acquina is making unreasonable demands. They really need to reconsider her employment or change their claims process because my first claim with Homesite Insurance four years ago was also troublesome. I will be looking for a new insurer after this claim is resolved.

I paid for my homeowners insurance on 8-21-2023 in full by credit card. Homesite then also billed my escrow account a week later. I asked that that payment be refunded to my escrow company. They sat on the payment for 6 weeks while claiming the payment was refunded and finally after another 20 days and 6 phone calls later sent the check to me. I just found out that they billed my escrow company again who sent another payment. So far I have paid $5,832 for a $1,944 annual policy. I am really starting to wonder what would happen in an emergency situation such a tornado or fire. I am thinking of reporting them to the insurance commissioner board.

THEY SHOULD BE IN JAIL! I've been going through HOMESITE INSURANCE for years for home insurance. I have been paying $85 a month on a $95,000 home after they raised their price $5 from the previous year ($80) I just seen they are raising my premium again. Are you ready for this? What would you say would be a fair increase due to inflation and such with no claims? Well the good honest workers at HOMESITE INSURANCE saw it justifiable to raise it from $85 to $400 with no other explanation other than inflation. This is criminal and they should be prosecuted! I will be talking to an attorney to see about a lawsuit as well. If that isn't price gouging I don't know what is!!! If you have been a VICTIM of HOMESITE please call Department of Insurance and Financial Services to report it at 517-290-4580 or 517-284-8715

I have to say, this is the worst ins. Company I have ever dealt with. They took out money, then sent us a letter saying we had 30 days to have a completely new roof put on, or they would cancel us. Now mind you it is August in SC, 100 plus degrees, roofers are going to wait. That's ok. I canceled them. That was dirty. We are seniors living on fixed income, and we already had 4 different roofing companies tell us our roof is fine for 4-5 more years. Don't hire them for you insurance needs. They take your money then screw you over. Plus they were $600. A year more than other companies.

Buyer beware. It honestly feels like living in the middle of a scam. They work with shady contractors and constantly change adjusters, so your home problems will never get fixed. I filed a claim in Feb for something that should G’s d been fixed in weeks. They started repair at the beginning of May. My house is still torn up. They are slow and unresponsive and it’s as if there is a button they can press to reassign your adjuster it comes time to actually make progress. This is the worst company I’ve ever given money to for a service. Do not make my mistake.

Recently had a power outage due to a bad storm that knocked out power across multiple state areas. Homesite does not cover the hundreds in food costs that I know have to replace because I lost power to my fridge. I have personal property coverage and loss of use, but it’s apparently not covered. This is a VERY COMMON coverage, that apparently they just don’t do.
They also have a ridiculous new policy where they WILL NOT DISCUSS YOUR COVERAGES WITH YOU. You have to file a claim which they will then approve or deny, they will not tell you a straight answer whether or not something is covered. One of the absolute stupidest policies I’ve ever heard.

Okay so the scam is to get a customer to sign up and get that initial money from them or their mortgage company. Then come up with an excuse to cancel the policy Within the first 30 days so they won't have to pay anything or deal with you again. They are simply existing off of the first 30 days × however many unsuspecting people who get duped. Progressive and Geico are in cahoots with these dirt burglars and they are guilty by association. Apparently they don't care that your mortgage will lapse your coverage and penalize you because you can somehow fully replace a roof in 4 weeks. Homesite insurance scammers are truly ruthless. Aside from the reviews more people should go through the proper channel to make complaints. At least agitate them while they're robbing you.
