HSBC's Premier Service, not so Premier after all.

Dear Cassey Sum, Alex Lim, Muhammad Yusof, Jerrick Foo and HSBC WPB review team.


For the 3rd time, I would like HSBC to STOP harassing me with the attached letter requesting me evidence of US citizenship and US WBEN form which I do not have, and to send me an APOLOGY for relentless customer harassment - I shall post these correspondence publicly on HSBC Malaysia Google Review and other public places.

I hope I will not receive a 4th letter in the post or my account gets blocked because of your incompetency and inaction (I am referring to Cassey, Alex, Muhammad, Jerrick and HSBC WPB review team), in which case I shall stop being civil.

As explained on 29 February to my customer relationship manager Ms Cassey and in writing to all of you....I neither have or want a US citizenship and passport.

Happy to meet Ms Cassey and sign any additional documentation in the second week of June.

I look forward to having a written response to my 3rd email to you.

We are very impressed with the assistance of Mageswari Spursmaniam at the HSBC Downing Street branch, Penang. Our account was dormant over 3 years. She was able to solve our problem very quickly and in no time we got our account reactivated with new debit cards, etc. she was extremely efficient and courteous with attention to details. We cannot praise her enough. Thank you Magie.

Wish to thank sincerely Madam Pui See Assistant manager and Madam Anu Radha HSBC Ipoh at Jalan Sultan yussof who were most efficient ,prompt and above all most compassionate. Truly appreciate their kindness and excellent service. May we have many more like them. God bless them. Thank you HSBC.

Two thumbs up

My issue and inquiry : reset password for online banking. Attended by customer service person - Calvin Lim. A job well executed as a front liner. Even the issue is unable to be resolved via the phone but Calvin has delivered his best efforts to resolve. He has walked an extra mile. For that, I think his efforts should be mentioned on Trustpilot. Ive resolved my issue at the local branch as advised. Im not sure of if any other HSBC customers have the same frustration as I, for just to reset the online banking password. Just hope the procedure may be minimised for the future development or consideration. Again thank you, Calvin for your service.

Appreciation of a staff member

We have often found her to be helpfull, efficient and friendly. Why can't all customer services be like this (not specifically HSBC)???

Poor Customer Service, Extremely Slow, Poor digitalisation

As a client for well over a decade, I would say they have two key issues:

(1) Slow Service
On average be prepared to spend 30 minutes to 1.5 hours every time you visit. The staff are really friendly and helpful but there is so much red tape, so many unnecessary forms and formalities that simple things take 30-40 mins to resolve, anything more complex and you're looking at over an hour!

(2) The bank is very poorly digitised, their business and personal apps are useless aside from checking balance and conducting simple transfers to pre-set parties you cannot do much else. They really need to look at what Revolut is doing.

The customer service is BAD

The customer service is BAD, worst customer service experience i ever had, phone hang for 20 minutes no agent to assist, i had change to other hotline same situation no luck at all, look for online assistance but give me a virtual bot that telling me all the sh!t that I already knew. Good luck at getting new customer onboard on your sh!tty bank.

Is as if the customer service dept is non-existent

Called them few times ( morning, afternoon and evening ) with an average of 30 mins for each call and no surprise, no one picked up. I am shocked because even other local banks customer service picks up the call. I tried chatting with them on mobile app and website but both are virtual bots not directing me to an answer. Please buck up your service.

Poor quality of fraud team and customer service

Noticed fraud transactions on 15th Aug, continuous calling customer service all day long - no one answered. Submitted fraud form myself received confirmation email from HSBC on same day.

Called customer service again on 16th Aug, from morning and finally agent picked up at evening. Informed investigations will be processed, fraud team will contact me on 17th Aug. But no one called.

Contacted HSBC mobile app on 22nd Aug, told me no records of my submission for fraud investigations. Said will reply me in another 3 days.

Very poor customer support, don't expect them helping you during crisis.

HSBC CREDIT CARDS - AVOID AT ALL COST!

I am suprised with the sluggishness in terms of HSBC's customer service. Discovered an unauthorised transaction around mid-August. Called for one whole week and nobody answered. Sent email but to no avail as well. Finally I managed to reach a customer service representative from the bank through my mobile app but was informed that I would have to clear my balance before a new credit card was sent to me WITH CHARGES. Upon hearing this, I opted to terminate my business relationship with the bank.

Truly the worst ever bank in Malaysia if you are looking to apply for a credit card. Beware and apply at your own risk and detriment!!

Recently received a unauthorised…

Recently received a unauthorised transaction message and was trying to call to HSBC however after around 2 hours still no one pick up the call. Hopeless especially during critical time. All my reviews can support by screenshot of my phone. This is shame on their CEO.

Had to make an appoinment does not guarantee service

Had to make an appointment which is not an issue. But at the appointment time, no one attends to you. Imagine the security guard is the one who direct me where to seat. Waited aimlessly for 30 minutes and still no one attend to us. I gave up. HSBC Penang Tanjung tokong Branch

HSBC Malaysia - unsafe and bad customer service

HSBC Malaysia has become both unsafe and not secure. I've had unauthorised transaction on both my debit and credit card. The bank asks you to report suspicious activity when it occurs, yet it impossible to even reach the customer service lines; both the chat function and the call centre. I've had to be on hold for more than an hour and then just to be cut off after holding that long. This is very disappointing as HSBC used to be good, especially the ease of which to deal with customer service. There was also no question on the security of the bank. However, over the past 2 years its been awful and now with the security issues as well - this is not a bank I feel safe with any longer.

Top 1 worst bank service

HSBC otp never appear on my phone. And they freeze my debit card. After that I went to their branch to activate it, the customer service told me I can only use it after 24 hours. Unlike other bank we can ensure our card is working before we walk out from the bank, in HSBC they don't ensure your card is working. Guess what? It never works. I still can't use my debit card online.

Ghost Customer Service

This is by far the worst experience I’ve had with a bank. Non existent customer support, so good luck to you if you need urgent help with your credit card. HSBC will let you down flat.

Fantastic service

Fantastic service, great experience. Premium customer service is sometimes overloaded with requests via telephone but the availability of my advisor via whatsapp almost 24/7 is estonishing.

Nobody ever picks up the call. Ridiculous customer service for a so-called international bank. Even local banks pick up calls. Absolute worst bank
