Over 90% of Customers Restored After Recent Storms
Final Push Underway for Remaining Customers
After favorable weather conditions sped progress with restoration efforts Saturday, Consumers Energy expects to restore most customers’ power by the end of today. Customers in hardest-hit areas should see power restored by the end of the day Monday.
As of Sunday evening, our crews have restored over 90% of the nearly 287,000 customers affected by the string of tornadoes, thunderstorms and hail that swept through Michigan May 15-17.
“More favorable weather conditions this weekend helped our crews speed up restoration progress significantly,” said Norm Kapala, one of our Officers in Charge for restoration. “We continue to thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we work to return life to normal. To those still awaiting restoration in especially hard-hit areas, we understand the difficulties you continue to face, and we won’t stop until the job is finished.”
