How FBA works

Step 1

Register for FBA

Sign up for a selling account, or log in to Seller Central if you already have one. To register for FBA, select the gear icon, then Account info. Then select Manage on the Seller Account Information page and click Register for FBA.

Step 2

List and assign products to FBA

You can select some or all of your eligible products for FBA. Before deciding which products to select:
  1. Confirm your products are eligible by reviewing FBA product restrictions.
  2. Review FBA policies and requirements.
  3. Estimate costs using our Revenue Calculator.
You can assign new products during the standard listing process by selecting Amazon will ship and provide customer service (FBA), or change an existing listing to FBA.

Step 3

Send shipment to Amazon

Transport your products to an Amazon fulfillment center using the Send to Amazon workflow. The workflow will guide you through the shipment-creation process, including preparing, packing, and labeling your inventory.

To save time and effort, use our FBA Prep Service and FBA Label Service.

Step 4

Let Amazon handle fulfillment

Track your shipments to the Amazon fulfillment network. We receive and store your inventory, pack and ship orders, and handle customer service and returns on your behalf.

Step 5

Manage your FBA inventory

Use the FBA Dashboard to help forecast and manage your FBA inventory.

Use a suite of tools and services, including the FBA Restock tool, Replenishment Alerts, and FBA Liquidations, to help you maintain balanced inventory levels, keep your most popular products in stock, and avoid long-term storage costs.

Step 6

Optimize and expand your business

Use a suite of FBA services to help streamline your operations.

Pair FBA with programs like Amazon Global Logistics, Remote Fulfillment with FBA, and Amazon Export to help reach more customers around the world.
Not sure if FBA is right for you?

Save with the FBA New Selection program

You can get free monthly storage, rebates, and waivers through the FBA New Selection program. As a new seller, you’re automatically enrolled when you bring new eligible products to FBA and create an FBA shipment within 90 days of listing your first buyable product. As part of the program, you get access to the FBA New Selection dashboard, which shows your enrolled products and the savings you’re enjoying.

How much does FBA cost?

Costs for FBA depend on the products you sell and the exact services you use. Compare FBA to the cost of fulfilling customer orders yourself, then select the right fulfillment method for each product.

FBA fulfillment costs

The fulfillment cost per unit includes picking and packing your orders, shipping and handling, customer service, and product returns. Costs are based on the weights and dimensions of your product. Shipping weight is calculated based on the item’s unit weight or dimensional weight.
