John Tyler Community College’s program for unemployed workers is one of its more attractive offerings.
Located in Chester, Virginia, John Tyler Community College (JTCC) offers those who are unemployed a variety of training opportunities through their “On-Ramp” program.
On-Ramp provides tuition assistance while teaching its students new skills
for a new career path. On-Ramp also offers resources for career-searching, educates students on the most-in demand career fields, and helps them devise a career plan.
In order to qualify for On-Ramp, students must be at least 18 years of age, unemployed or underemployed, and seeking a degree or certificate.
JTCC also offers over 50 traditional certificates and associate’s degrees in such programs as business, the arts, sciences, nursing and engineering. For those who do not wish to pursue a career or degree, continuing education courses provide opportunities for personal enrichment as well as basic adult education.
John Tyler Community College’s financial aid foundation has a number of corporate and individual-funded scholarships. These are awarded to eligible students based on their areas of academic study. Other forms of financial assistance include loans, grants and veterans benefits for those who qualify.
