the service itself was alright- though i won't miss the taxi and eating out surcharges. the card itself was FLIMSY as hell, and really cheaply made, so i had to constantly replace it. Kaiku thought I was committing fraud, so they shut down my account.
Horrible customer service! Kaiku regularly placed holdss holds on my monthly direct deposits claiming fraudulent activity each month (I was able to verify every "questionable" transaction each time) despite 18 months of consistent spending patterns, of receiving my once monthly paycheck via direct deposit and then spending the entire balance within 5 days to pay rent and bills. Then, out of the blue, they sent me a letter with no explanation, notifying me that my account was terminated- and I never did anything wrong- I only deposited my monthly paycheck and then payed all of my bills from my card. NOTHING on my account even appears fraudulent- it consists of utility payments, cash withdrawal for rent and gasoline, and insurance and car payments, so I don't understand why they consider it questionable activity. Good riddance Kaiku- thanks for all the hassle every month- you did me a favor by closing my account now that I see the enormous amount of consumer complaints on many websites. It is obvious now that customer satisfaction is not your game.
Awesome prepaid card but sadly, I just received a email today 04/20/17 saying that kaiku will be discontinued its card on June 7th 2017 and no longer accepting any deposits.
Are they discontinuing it for everyone? I got the same email.

I opened an account with kaiku to receive my income tax return. my money was deposited I activated it and used my card and when attempting to take all my money off kaiku locked my card. When I called them they told me they needed me to verify my identity and they asked me to send them my ID, social, 1099 and a bill. I sent them all the required information over 30 times via fax and email kaiku claimed that my ID wasn't clear They claimed that they didn't get the last bill.. I asked them what other information would they be willing to take to verify me or can I answer some credit security questions and kaiku told me there is no other way they could release it it's been weeks and they will not release my money. I asked them to return it to the IRS or send me my money in a check then a week later after contacting better business bureau they unlocked my account now they said wait for a new card it has been two weeks still no card I called and asked where the card is and now the account is locked again and now they are claiming that they will mail a check. And claimed the request to mail a check was two days ago. But my money still shows it's in a closed account and has yet to be sent ....I warn everyone do not I say do not make any attempts to do business with kaiku card they are a scaming people and defrauding everyone. There risk services department isn't even in the building it's in another state from the actual bank there customer service is in a third stage different from the other two each department is in a different place. The supervisor can't even reach any department in there business through phone everything is done through an email which takes 2-5 days for a reply if any reply at all. You will get the rub around. This place is just as bad as the achieve card
Haven't had this card very long and as soon as I can, never will use again. I have more limitations with this card than my bank and at least with the bank I have somewhere to go rather than customer service telling you to send an email to Kaiku because they can't help. Denied gas although there was plenty of available funds. Have attempted to make payments on accounts but they are being declined. Not happy at all
It was hard for me to decide on this card based on the reviews. But our reason for having this card is completely different then everyone elses. We got this card for my step dad to carry with him throughout the week to use for small purchases (coffee, lunch, etc). He rides the bus to and from work every day since he can't drive due to epilepsy and we worry that he will lose his debit card/credit card(it's happened a few times before) or forget it on the bus. So if someone else was to get a hold of his card we don't want a lot of money on it. We don't plan on using direct deposit at all. Someones review said they were not able to set up pay pal. It's a user error for sure. I set up pay pal yesterday on my step dads Pay pal account. SUPER EASY. you just have to make sure you follow the directions! You will have to log into your Kaiku app and confirm pay pal sent you a "test deposit" then you log into pay pal and key in the "test deposit" funds they sent you. If you do NOT do that within the time frame they will cancel your set up. So far we have had no issues with the set up. Side note, you cannot set it up using the actual card #, you will see a routing/account # on the website for your card, and thats what you use for pay pal to set up your account. I also transferred funds from my pay pal to his card today and it's currently pending 3-5 days which is okay but that's whats expected. We have a ton of visa ready link locations around us for a quick immediate deposit if we needed it. For someone like this ... where you are only using it for incidental purchases throughout the week...get this card. I can't speak for anyone else who is having issues with there direct deposits. At my Previous job I worked in Finance and we never accepted prepaid debit cards to have direct deposits sent to because of the issues stated below. Again most of the time the user of the card does not read all of the rules associated with direct deposit and a pre-paid card and how long it can take to be "available" which seems to be many peoples issues. Hopefully this review helps someone decide if they want to get this card or not. I have also not had to reach out to customer support for anything yet...so I can't speak for that.
Ive had tgis card almost a year and cant wait to cut it in half! The world's WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON EARTH!!! All the reps are ghetto i literally HATE calling i rather call India at least they attempt to help you. I cant wait to close this crap card! Im suprised the reps can even type. I cant login to the website which is THE ONLY way i choose to deal with them. now im locked out (internal error) so im forced to cal laquandesha again and they tell me to go to kaiku.com ???????? Dude I CANT LOGIN. Direct deposit is ALWAYS late dealing with literally any issue is a headach! Im so done.
This card SUCKS I pump gas and pay at the pump and it put a hold on my money first hold for $99, second hold for $75 I am still have yet to receive the money, customer service said "next time you pay at the pump" well I know that now that you are holding my money hostage. Sorry strongly NOT recommend this card.
I would give this card ZERO stars if I had the option. This card does not work with PAYPAL. I repeat, this card does not work with PAYPAL. It is a lie. I purposely picked this card so that I could load money on it from the states with Paypal for my son to use it while he was in Germany. Total BS. Paypal has never heard of this pre-paid debit card and after I jumped through all of PayPlas hoops to verify the account and waiting over a week for confirmations...paypal says "nope sorry" we can't load money onto this card!!!! NEVER GET THE KAIKU CARD IF YOU EXPECT TO LOAD IT FROM PAYPAL!
Horrible customer service, I have never had the opportunity to become a customer. I simply asked a few questions and they completely ignored it, don't waste your time with them.
They don't make it very clear that you can't spend more than $500 cash a day so if you got $4,500 in your bank account they don't care you can't spend more than $500 cash a day you can't retrieve more than $500 a day so basically doesn't matter what you need even if you talk to a supervisor there's nothing they can do to override that it's $500 a day so for me big mistake bad customer service!
If I could give them 0 stars I would. I have had this card for four months and have been a victim of identity theft every month that I've had the card. The first time it was for 17 dollars, no big deal it seemed to me as if it was refunded immediately. Got a new card 2 weeks later (couldn't touch the rest of my funds during this time period) So I was without for several weeks pending the arrival of my new card. The next time was a month later Jan 30 2016, this fraudulent transaction was for 228 dollars and some change. I filled out a dispute form and had to 2 whole weeks for my new card ( not able to use my funds at this time) My new card arrived Feb 13, 2016, the 228 was debited to my account the following week on the 18th. Wouldn't you know it a week later Feb 26, 2016 fraudulent charges on my account again. This time 4 transactions totaling 65 dollars. These charges sat on my account for a whole week and I was never notified nor was the account suspended or put on hold. I should mention that my pin number was used to make these transactions... What made me notice these charges was because a week later my account was put on hold for a fraudulent transaction totaling 2,000! On my brand new card mind you. Every fraudulent transaction on my account was posted from a retail store in California, where this company is located. Seems as if someone working for this company is selling my info to people as soon as my card leaves the printing area. How else would someone using my card clear across the country from where I live could get my pin code to make purchases. The purchase that totaled 2,000 I called the merchant and the criminal had a duplicated card with all my info on it because I had my card in my possession the entire time he was in CA using it. How could he possibly have obtained this card except from someone who works for them. I've contacted the BBB in Cali and Kentucky. They are crooks and need to be investigated.
Job says theu transferred funds to my account on Wednesday, Monday now and still no deposit... Someone help!! Whats going on? Am I waiting for the 5th business day??? TUESDAY?? Where are my funds

There may be a temporary hold on your first direct deposit transaction but after that you will receive your money as soon as your employer releases it. You can find out more here: https://wallethub.com/edu/available-funds/11314/ . Hope this helps!
Many hotel chains will accept prepaid cards, though they are more likely to do so at check-in or check-out than at the time of booking. That policy should also apply when renting a car; however, each rental company has its own rules about acceptable payment options.
We actually have two great articles that should help clarify matters: https://wallethub.com/edu/book-hotel-without-credit-card/25850/ and https://wallethub.com/edu/car-rental-without-credit-card/25551/ .

Yes, you can use the Kaiku card abroad, and there is no foreign transaction fee. The easiest way to reload your card while abroad is to link it to your bank or PayPal account. Best of luck!
After reading the cardholder agreement on KAIKU card's site, it seems that if you take a picture of your check it is deposited to your KAIKU account through the Ingo remote deposit network. The FAQ at Ingo's site mentions that with a check you can add funds from $5 up to $2,500 and there's a maximum limit of $2,500 per check, $5,000 per day and $10,000 per month. Also, in the aforementioned cardholder's agreement we...
