Higher Education: What Must Be Done

Higher education has seen unprecedented challenges in recent years. Questions about its value, particularly concerning the cost of tuition, access for middle and working-class families, and whether a college degree increases the income potential of graduates, have deepened the perception that postsecondary studies can be postponed. Coupled with campus protests and the enrollment decline predicted to begin after the high school class of 2025 graduates this summer, these challenges may seem overwhelming. At Niagara University, we encourage students to carefully assess where to spend their educational dollars, because NU has taken a decades-long approach to aligning its strategic priorities with this point in time – and return on investment – in mind. Colleges and universities that are pivoting now for a demographic cliff foretold nearly 20 years ago are too late. NU, inspired by the vision of a 17th-century Catholic priest, St. Vincent de Paul, has been able to overcome these challenges and is positioned to manage those that are yet to come.

Every professor in my program cared about me, not only as a student, but as a person and an aspiring professional. Because of their support and guidance, I found my passion for the sports & entertainment industry. The mentors, experiences, and friends I found at NU are something I will always be grateful for.
