Responding to Login Failed error messages

Troubleshooting


Problem

When a user attempts to login in, the "Login Failed: Your user ID or password is incorrect" error message is displayed. This error message is generic, and there can be several reasons why the login failed.

Cause

Authentication can fail because of several reasons, and the same error message is displayed.

  • The user name or password are incorrect. This is easily corrected by typing the correct user name and password.
  • The user password has expired.
  • The user name was disabled in the LDAP provider.
  • The user name was set to configure a new password on the next login, but no change password option is displayed.

Resolving The Problem

The user or administrator must review the user name and password settings and make corrections before attempting to log in to IBM Financial Crimes Insight with Watson application.

  • If a password has expired, the user must reset the password with the appropriate tools.
  • If a user name is disabled, select a valid user name to log in with.
