Lowe's Store Card Review Highlights
Here’s what you need to know about the Lowe’s Store Card before you apply.
Way better for rewards than financing. The Lowe’s Credit Card lets you choose between saving 5% on everything you buy at the store and paying down big-ticket purchases with “special” financing. But it’s an easy decision, considering what’s hiding within the financing promotion: a feature known as “deferred interest”. You can get a 0% intro rate for six months on purchases of at least $299, but if you miss a due date along the way or don’t repay your full balance by the six-month mark, interest will retroactively apply to your original purchase amount at the full regular rate. So what seems like a great way to save money could easily end up costing you big-time. A better approach is to use the Lowe’s Card to earn rewards on purchases you can repay within a single billing period and get a 0% credit card that’s not associated with a particular retailer for purchases you’ll pay off over time.
Extremely high regular APR. If you’re not convinced that carrying a balance from month to month with the Lowe’s Store Card is a bad idea, just consider the rate at which you’ll pay interest when its standard terms are in effect. The regular APR is well above the average among credit cards for fair credit – the minimum credit standing required for Lowe’s Card approval.
No annual fee is nice. This makes the Lowe’s Credit Card $23.75 cheaper than the average card and enables you to maximize your savings.
Fairly easy to get approved for. You only need “fair” credit to get approved for the Lowe’s Store Card. That, combined with its lack of an annual fee, makes the Lowe’s Card a decent choice for low-cost credit improvement. If you aren’t sure how good your credit is, you can check your credit score for free on WalletHub

Synchrony Bank is a terrible partner for Lowe's card. There's a flaw in the online application, and I was hit with a significant second ding on my credit when they tried to work on it. And... 31.9% interest? We miss you, Senator Levin. That should not even be legal!

They will close your account even if you always have a low balance and always pay on time! Instead of decreasing the limit, they just closed ours the day after we used it, and we found out when we were in the store two days later because it kept denying our card. We have great credit and never missed any payments. Now, Lowe's will not get our business.

Excellent for home projects and tools because I got a roof which was supposed to be $9200, but they gave me a deal for being a Lowe's card holder for $8200, which is still a lot. It was for a 700 sq ft house with two porches and a 1.5 car garage, and several pieces of wood also had to be replaced. The contractor was great, and Synchrony raised my limit from $3000 to $9400 easily without an inquiry on my credit. Then they offered me 12 months same as cash or 10 years at 9.99% on the roof, which is a very good offer. I am very pleased with this card. Can't wait to pay it off in about 5 years making double payments so I can then redo my kitchen, get a new privacy fence, and have siding and a garage door with an opener installed. One thing at a time. I may go through Home Depot to do the garage door. I'm hesitant because they supported a political figure I disagree with, but they got bought out by Lowe's now anyhow, so hopefully they don't contribute to that person anymore. Get this card!

Just rip my Lowe's credit card. Reason? Tried to log in and could not do it. Finally was able to get through and paid my balance, however, I noticed that it did not say if it was successful or not. Thinking I paid the balance, later on, I noticed an additional charge of $30.00 for a late payment. Had to go 25 miles to the Lowe's store to find out what's going on. They were rude and did not want to hear my complaint, just pay your bill. I did! Not saying I will never go to Lowe's, however, I'll pay cash. Raul

They did the same to us, now Lowes won't get our business. They could have decreased our limit since we weren't using alot of the limit but instead closed it all together. We bought all of our pool chemicals from Lowe's too

I'm a military veteran and have never been late on payments. Lowe's raised my credit limit this month without my asking. The moment I paid off the remainder of my balance in the same month, they closed my account because they checked my credit report without my permission and discovered my credit score had dropped slightly. Things happen in life, right? I had a credit limit of over $6,000. The point is, I've had credit with them for years and have never been late on a payment. It seems as if they punished me for paying off my credit card by closing my account. Does that make sense to you? That is very poor business practice. I will never spend another cent at Lowe's from this day forward. I still have a Home Depot credit card with thousands available for me to spend. My advice is to avoid Lowe's.

After I received a $1000 credit card, I spent some of my money and was making payments on time. Then, for no reason whatsoever, they lowered it to $600 because I made all my payments so I paid it off completely. Well, I went to the store to buy some paint today, and they discontinued my card because I made all my payments on time. I would not recommend this card unless you miss payments so they can make money off you.

Synchrony Bank is ruining Lowe's reputation! I had a $1,000 credit limit, always paid on time, and had about $700 available. Despite a year of punctual payments, they slashed my limit to $300. When I called to inquire about the reason, they blamed my credit score, which is perplexing since I have an excellent score with all the major cards and no late payments. Then, within 30 days, they abruptly closed my account. I've decided I will never shop at Lowe's again. I have stopped visiting their stores, even during holiday seasons. I sincerely hope the executives take note of my message and reconsider their partnership with Synchrony Bank as it's detrimental to the Lowe's brand and business.
