It shouldn't be so hard to cancel a credit card! It took me a couple of minutes to get the credit card from MidFlorida, but I am in the process of moving and want to cancel my credit card with them. I realize they don't want customers to cancel, but this is ridiculous. I asked at the bank, 'How do I go about canceling?' 'Oh, just call the customer service number on the back of the card.' Well, I am now heading into phone call number three and still no luck. No one seems to know who or what or what time the branch opens or ANYTHING. Ridiculous.
Hi enjoyitcar, sorry to hear about this experience you're having. Please send an email to [email protected] with some details about what happened and be sure to include the phone number where we can best reach you. - Rebecca

I worked with Ruth Baluyut on a loan. She was extremely professional, friendly, and truly interested in me and my wife becoming customers. She was very responsible and always responded to my questions in a timely manner. I did a lot of research and found MIDFLORIDA Credit Union to have very competitive rates and lots of convenient locations. Ruth is a true asset for MFCU. Thank you, George & Bonnie.
Hi George and Bonnie,
We saw your amazing review about Ruth Baluyut, and we wanted to say a big thanks! It sounds like Ruth went above and beyond to help you find the perfect loan for your needs. We're so lucky to have her on our team, and we'll be sure to pass on your kind words. We're happy you found MIDFLORIDA to have competitive rates and convenient locations – that's what we strive for! Welcome aboard!
Thanks,

As a fan of fintechs and neobanks, I've used a variety of financial services from various institutions. Never in my life have I been denied a checking account because of my credit score. Yes, you heard that right—a checking account, not a credit card or loan. I applied online for MidFlorida's Free Checking, and after submitting the application, I received an email stating I was denied because my Experian score is 565. Out of curiosity, I went to the Experian website to check, and my score is 644, which is good enough to get approved for a decent number of credit cards. Yet here's MidFlorida treating me as if I'm not even good enough to have a checking account with them. If this is a reflection of their overall service, I am at a loss as to how they became such a large credit union in the first place.
It is extremely challenging working with credit unions that do not truly care about their customers and their needs. We are treated simply like a number. In my opinion, Sun Coast, Mid-Florida, and Space Coast Credit Union are the worst institutions to be a member of. They have great customer service approaches until you become a member, and then, as a customer, you experience the absolute worst service.
Space Coast Credit Union - Purchased and fully paid off two new vehicles within 3 years, demonstrating an excellent payment history. At Sun Coast CC, I applied for a credit card and was approved; however, they felt the need to approve me for a loan to refinance a new car I purchased less than a month ago. This loan was approved without my application. I declined as I had a better rate with my current lender. Instead, I applied for a personal loan for one-third of the amount of the refinancing loan they approved, and I was declined. Make that make sense. At Mid-Florida, I have a current vehicle loan with a perfect payment history and three months paid in advance. Yet, I was denied a credit card that I was planning to use for home improvement. These were horrible experiences, and I will not refer any of these institutions to anyone and strongly recommend people not to become members.
MidFlorida CU is the worst credit union and is extremely bad at servicing business customers. I am a small business owner and deposit one check weekly from my largest customer, a local business, and MidFlorida continuously places one-week holds. This makes it extremely difficult to run my business. I speak to them all the time about this problem, yet they continue to place the holds. The deposits range from $2,500 to $4,000 per week, so the deposits are not very large. I have now decided to close all my accounts, both personal and business, and open accounts elsewhere. I advise you to never use MidFlorida CU.

Customers Beware. If I could give them a zero, I would! I have been hit with a negative credit due to their system issues and the manager, April in Collections, would not accept fault for the company or try to correct it. Instead, she said, "You're calling on Friday at almost 5 pm," and hung up on me. People in these positions and this type of service provider should be more sensitive to people's credit as it is very important to maintain a good score. I will move forward with writing to the BBB as well, because a system error should not be my fault and should be fixed. I should not be hung up on, even on a Friday at almost 5 pm. April is a poor manager who needs corrective actions or to be shown the door.
Had a check returned to Mid Florida from my drawing bank for "no known account." My deposit to Mid Florida from my drawing bank account was miscoded when processed by Mid Florida (incorrect account number presented on the MICR transmittal by Mid Florida), resulting in the "no known account" message upon refusal. Mid Florida charged me $15 for an NSF check deposited into the Mid Florida account. I found out about the issue when attempting to withdraw funds from Mid Florida. No mention to me of why the check was returned by either institution. Mid Florida simply did not care. And, worse, did not investigate the background of the "no account known" message, leaving me with the potential of writing many NSF checks locally. I had to complete the investigation and bring it to the attention of the local branch manager, Ms. Schroeder at 3008 South Florida Ave. How many other members are being poorly treated and potentially overcharged for Mid Florida's errors? Where is the quality control?
They are thieves who steal your money and won't return it. I am owed money and I want it back. I will be closing mine and my children's accounts tomorrow.
This credit union is garbage. Customer service is rude and. Not helpful at all. All they have is script rebuttals . They will keep your funds regardless of whether an item got paid or returned due to insufficient funds. I understand that no one should be overdrawn; however, in today's world, everyone is struggling. If one of my bills causes my account to overdraft, I agree to the $30.00 insufficient funds fee. But if they do not honor the payment and return or reject it, the consumer should not be subject to the $30.00 fee. In essence, they are taking your money when they reverse payments and keep $30.00. Other credit unions offer much better services than this one. Consider Navy Federal, Space Coast Credit Union, and several others. If you're in the market for a credit union, I would recommend staying AWAY from MIDFLORIDA.

I absolutely dislike MidFlorida Credit Union. Just to pay my car loan every month requires a phone call to them, and I wait 20, 40, 60 minutes on an automated line. Or I request a callback and wait a day or two for a return call. I dislike MidFlorida Credit Union. They have the "bottom of the barrel" in phone and customer service.
Hey there Sue, I'm sincerely sorry to hear about your difficulties with our customer service. To help you quickly reach a resolution, I'd like to forward this over to our Help Desk team. I have been a client/customer of this company for many years maybe 5 so far. I have had a lot of issues with hacking my account and charges that were not authorized. In hopes that my bank would stop them they replied I would need to close my account. However I have everything set to this one. Not only did I go ahead and continue to pay the NSF fees due to these fraudulent charges. I’ve called and been on record making this known. I decided to go inside and close my account due to the excessive amount of charges building up. I was told there was nothing I can do beside pay for fraudulent barges caused by scammers. I am being forced to have people constantly take my hard earned money as I continue to wait for a dispute about charges I’ve made them aware of months ago. I find this to be so irritating and after I get my deposit I will be closing my account and not coming back. I don’t recommend this bank to anyone. They do not take in consideration your longevity or the relationship built. I am extremely upset and as a single mother my hands are tied due to me being immature and having only 1 BANK ACCOUNT! so now me and my children (3 kids are left to struggle and beg for cash until MY ACCOUNT IS FIXED, A DEPOSIT IS MADE SO I CAN OBTAIN MY PAYCHECK DUE TO PAY CYCLES TO AVOID RECEIVING PAPER CHECK BEING THAT ITS THE 1st OF THE MONTH.) IVE NEVER BEEN SO ANGRY OR DISGUISED WITH A COMPANY BEFORE UNTIL NOW.
0:5 stars don’t recommend however I was forced to rate it at least 1 star
MidFlorida has a product called Extreme savings. Of which they pay a whopping .35% (yes, a third of a percent) And if you miss the $10,000 minimum balance you get charged $10. I was below it by a couple hundred dollars for a few months in a row and there was no forgiveness. I looked up MidFlorida's fee income compared to SunCoast per their call reports they are required to submit quarterly. As of Sept 2023, MidFlorida is on pace to charge TWICE the fees per asset size as Suncoast. Stay away from this organization. It is NOT member centric by any means!
Hey there sipinv23,
We genuinely appreciate you sharing your experience with our Extreme Savings product, and I'm deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused by the minimum balance requirements and associated fees. Your feedback is invaluable, and we take it seriously. Rest assured, we're committed to addressing these concerns and improving our services to better meet our members' needs. Your comparison with other institutions regarding fees per asset size is duly noted, and we'll use this feedback constructively. If you'd like to discuss this further or if there's anything we can do to regain your trust, please contact us directly at [email protected]. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Sincerely,
Rebecca

This is a horrible Credit Union to become a member with. All of the customer service reps are trained to deceive you about membership and member banking products. You are doing your self a huge disservice by becoming a member here. This Financial institution is a very conservative lender. I’m not one to write reviews but I just could not let someone be deceived by their deceptive tactics as a financial institution. I’m also putting in a complaint with the consumer financial protection bureau. I’m also placing reviews on ever social media and banking platforms available. I just don’t want a person to experience the type of deception about products and discrimination that I encountered.
Trennel, we appreciate your feedback and are genuinely sorry to hear about your recent experience. It's important to us that our members have a smooth and transparent banking experience here at MIDFLORIDA Credit Union. We're committed to improving, and your insights are invaluable. Please email [email protected] with more details about your experience and include the best phone number for us to reach you. They have gotten so big they have forgotten what customer service is. Very poor service. Locked both me and my wife's debit cards on Veterans Day weekend when they were closed Friday and Saturday because they said my wife's card was compromised. So let's lock both of them????. No calls, messages, emails, nothing. They just locked our cards. Then when we call we are told we have to go in to get new cards, they won't mail them. When your bank gets so big you no longer care then I hope you go bankrupt.
