What is MyHealthRecord?

MyHealthRecord offers patients personalized and secure online access to portions of their medical records. It enables you to securely view information about your health. With MyHealthRecord, you can view:

  • Reason for hospitalization
  • Care team
  • Procedures performed during admission
  • Current and past problem list
  • Current medication list and medication history
  • Current medication allergy list and medication allergy history
  • Vital signs at discharge
  • Laboratory test results
  • Summary of care
  • Care plan
  • Discharge instructions

How do I sign up?

Patients who wish to participate can be issued a MyHealthRecord invitation in two ways, 1) while registering for a scheduled visit for hospital services or 2) Stop in the hospital Patient Registration office at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center with a photo ID and ask to be signed up.

How do I claim my invitation?

An invitation will be sent to the email address you gave during sign up. Once you have received the email, follow the directions on the screen. The step-by-step process will allow you to verify your identity by answering a challenge question and entering your date of birth. You will then be guided through the process to build your own username and password.

When can I see my test results in MyHealthRecord?

Your test results will be viewable in the patient portal immediate after the results are put into your health record. The following test results are currently not available to view in MyHealth Record: Tests indicating Sexually Transmitted Diseases, HIV, Hepatitis Serologies, Pregnancy Test and tumor markers.

Why are certain test results not shared electronically via MyHealthRecord?

Tests of a very sensitive nature are not released to MyHealthRecord.

If some of my information on MyHealthRecord is not correct, what should I do?

If you think anything in your health record needs to be corrected, please call 1-800-324-8163 to place your request.

Can I enter my own personal health information in the MyHealthRecord?

Yes. Under Account Settings, select "change settings with Cerner Health," and select the Health Record tab to add your personal information. This information is for your own reference and will not be part of your hospital medical record. You may share this self-entered information by selecting "Share This Record." To return to MyHealthRecord, click on "Return to MyHealthRecord."

Can I view a family member's health record in MyHealthRecord?

To access a family members account, you must have your own account and have the family member grant you proxy access. To grant proxy access, the family member will need to log into their portal account and select the "Proxy Dashboard." Next, they select "Grant Proxy Access" and fill in the User ID for the person they want to grant access to. Once they have granted access, you will need to log into your own account and accept the access. Then you will be able to access their account by logging into your own account and selecting their name from the "Viewing health record for" drop down in the upper right hand corner.

Can my spouse and I share one MyHealthRecord account?

You and your spouse will have separate accounts in MyHealthRecord.

I forgot my password. What should I do?

Click the "Forgot password" link on the sign-in page to reset your password online.

I have too many failed login attempts. My account has been disabled. What should I do?

How do I choose a MyHealthRecord UserID and password?

Choose a MyHealthRecord UserID and password that's easy for you to remember, but difficult for others to guess. An email address can be a UserID, but must be unique to one user.

Please keep in mind that only you will know your MyHealthRecord password. Your hospital and physician offices will not have access to this information. If you've lost or forgotten your UserID or password, please call toll-free MyHealthRecord Customer Support for technical support including password resets, by calling 1-800-324-8163.

What if I don't receive the PIN Via text message?

If you do not receive the PIN you may need to opt into text messaging from this service. To opt in, send a text message to 622622 with the following message PatientPortal. Do not include any spaces or quotes. You should receive a confirmation text that you have opted into the PatientPortal SMS. Once you receive confirmation, you will need to go back to the Verify PIN page and click the resend PIN link.

Is MyHealthRecord secure?

We take great care to ensure your health information is kept private and secure. Access to information is controlled through secure invitation process, personal IDs and passwords. Each person controls their password, and the account cannot be accessed without that password. Furthermore, MyHealthRecord uses the latest 128-bit SSL encryption technology with no caching to automatically encrypt your session with MyHealthRecord.

What is your Privacy Policy?

MyHealthRecord is owned and operated by MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center and Cerner Corporation. It is fully compliant with federal and state laws pertaining to your privacy. Your name and e-mail address will be treated with the same care and privacy given your health records and will never be sold or leased by MyHealthRecord.

I was logged out of MyHealthRecord, what happened?

We aim to protect your privacy and security of your information. While logged into MyHealthRecord, if your keyboard remains idle for 20 minutes or more, you will be automatically logged out of MyHealthRecord. We recommend that you log out of your MyHealthRecord session if you need to leave your computer for even a short period of time.

What do I need to use MyHealthRecord?

You need access to a computer connected to the Internet. Please ensure you have your web browser up-to-date. If you experience difficulties accessing your portal using Internet Explorer please switch to Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox.

What type of apps can I link my health record to?

You can connect and pull in data from your health record to the applications listed below if you choose.  Please check back here for the most recent list of apps available.

Cerner Hospital Portal:

NextGen Clinic Portal:

These apps give you the ability to view some of your medical record (or someone else's records, where you have proxy rights) on an app or website other than your patient portal.

How do I connect my medical record with an app?

To access your record through one of these apps (or someone else's where you have proxy rights) you must first create a patient portal account that is linked to MercyOne Health. If you do not have access, please sign up by creating an account.
