Returning students

If you're returning to a non-medical or dental healthcare course in 2020/21 after a period of absence, and you were previously in receipt of a NHS Bursary, check with the University to see if you're still eligible for NHS Bursary funding on your return, or whether you should apply via the Student Loans Company for tuition fee and maintenance loans.

NHS guides explain what you should know before, during and after you apply for your NHS bursary, and the different financial help available to you.

NHS Bursary Students - help and guidance

Information on application deadlines for all NHS Bursary students

Once your application is approved, your bursary entitlement for the forthcoming academic year will be available to view in the Payment Schedule of your BOSS account.

If you meet your application window deadline and you are eligible for a bursary, your  first payment will be made to your bank account on the third Friday of the month in which your academic year begins.

If you miss your application window deadline, we will assess your application within 35 working days from the date of receipt, but there may be a short delay to your payments.

In all cases, we must receive your BOSS application and supporting evidence within nine months of the start of the academic year for which you are applying.

We’ll let you know by email what supporting evidence you will need to send once you’ve submitted your application.
