McNair ES-News & Announcements for April 6, 2018

"McNair Runs with the Best!"

News & Announcements

April 6, 2018

Hello McNair Families,

It has been an exciting week at McNair, as we officially kicked off our Boosterthon Fun Run Fundraiser and celebrated College Day! Our 6th grade students also had the opportunity to meet their future schools leaders, Dr. Copeland, Principal of Westfield HS, and Mr. Stokes, Principal of Carson MS, at Wednesday morning's Parent Coffee Talk. They had the opportunity to hear about the strong academic and athletic programs that each of their school offers to students.

Kindergarten Orientation

We will hold our annual Kindergarten Orientation on Monday, April 16th at 9:00 a.m. in our cafeteria. If you have a rising kindergarten student, we invite you to join us to meet our Kindergarten staff and learn about our Kindergarten program here at McNair.

Our Boosterthon Fun Run is Underway!

Our Hot to Trot Fun Run kicked off today with our exciting Pep Rallies, and we are thrilled about this year’s program! Our Fun Run includes EVERY student in a fun, fitness event while helping our school raise much-needed funds.

This year, our entire school is raising funds for technology, reading, and math resources. Our goal is to raise $30,000, and we need YOUR help!

Here’s how you can support McNair:

  • Register your student on funrun.com using this code: 486-871. Once you do, your student will receive a FREE GIFT just for being registered. Then, use funrun.com to log pledges for your child.
  • Reach out to sponsors. Every student’s goal is to connect with 10 sponsors. And with funrun.com’s smart sharing features, reaching out to sponsors is easier than ever. The easiest way to get pledges is to simply click the Facebook share button on your student’s pledge page. Plus, with a few clicks you can create a custom Student Star video to share on social media. You can also use the Easy Emailer to connect with friends and family. As you gather pledges, be sure to record each sponsor’s e-mail address so they have the opportunity to easily pay for your student’s pledge online via credit card.
  • Ask your child about the Castle Quest Character Lesson of the day! This year’s character program is Castle Quest, a castle theme all about bravery. On their quest to regain Bravemore Castle, students will learn the “SIX VIRTUES of a TRUE HERO” from a cast of colorful characters. Join along by watching the fun character videos with your child on funrun.com.
  • Come to the Fun Run on 4/13! All students are included in the Fun Run, regardless of financial participation. Remember, students will be running 30-35 laps, and we would love for you to come out and cheer!

Thank you for supporting our school. We hope to see you next week at the Fun Run! Go Mustangs!

Our Fun Run schedule will be fanned out to families early next week so that families can join us to cheer on your Mustangs.

Positivity Project P2

This week our students finished learning about forgiveness. Ask your child this weekend what they learned about forgiveness and how it benefits them. Next week we are going to focus on the character trait of Integrity. This trait can be summed up very quickly with the phrase, “integrity is doing the right thing even when nobody is watching”.  People with this trait are seen as honest and trustworthy, because there is alignment in what they believe and in the manner in which they act.  Integrity is vital for high functioning teams, organizations and society in general. We look forward to learning more about this important trait with your children.

Upcoming Events...

April 13th- Boosterthon Fun Run (schedule will be fanned out early next week)

April 13th- Two Hour Early Release; dismissal at 1:30 p.m.

April 16th- Teacher Workday; no school for students

April 16th- Kindergarten Orientation at 9:00 a.m.

Have a nice weekend!

Mrs. Goddin

PTA Announcements

Dear Parents,

Hope you and your family had a wonderful Spring Break, last week and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Its April already, though they are talking about snow in our area, over the weekend.  Hope we will start seeing some warm weather soon.

This is the first week of our Spring After School clubs. Please pick up your child at the time indicated in the emails sent to you by the club vendor.
Change in the Dismissal door for clubs: We will have DOOR 2 for dismissal for all Spring clubs and NOT the front door. This has been done to make dismissal easier. Parents can park in the side parking lots or on the street and come pick up their child or children, but NOT park in the Kiss & Ride loop or bus lobby.

This is the door where it says 2 on the outside of the building near side parking lots.  Our onsite clubs coordinator Ms. Kristen Luck will be there for a few weeks, in case you have any questions around dismissal.

For other clubs related inquiries, please don’t hesitate to contact our PTA After School club manager at mcnairptasecretary@gmail.com.

We are also looking for volunteers to lead Bingo Night, scheduled for 04/20, and for Teacher Appreciation Week, if you are interested, please email presidentmcnairpta@gmail.com.
