This review is for the Athol, Idaho, branch. Unfortunately, workers don't realize that their actions can have a negative impact regarding perception on the entire organization. Recently, I went in to open a checking account. As I mentioned this to the teller inside, she started shaking her head as if she was very overwhelmed and frustrated. She asked questions that were irrelevant and that she could have easily answered if she had checked on our account. She then made excuses that she had to send the person who needed to help me to lunch and didn't think they could help me that day. I don't care about your employee staffing issues. There were four people working there that I could see. Surely somebody could help open a basic account. I don't go into a place where I expect professionalism and want to be greeted with an attitude and feelings of being overwhelmed by the worker. This negative review is only for the Athol branch, with which I have had repeated problems. The Hayden branch is exceptional in their professionalism, as is Boise.
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS CREDIT UNION. The loan officer misguided me throughout the entire process. I had only called to inquire about the documents needed, and I had "consented" to what I thought was a soft inquiry as other loan processes officer an initial soft inquiry and because I was not told otherwise, and she pulled a hard inquiry during my very first conversation before I submitted any documents to apply for the auto loan. I explicitly stated and provided a job offer letter of when my start date would be, and she told me that only a verification of employment for my new job would suffice for the application. As a result of her not providing accurate information about the appropriate documents, my application was declined because "I needed a first paystub," and "There are other variables to take into account," that she did not inform me of until after my decline. They said they would need to pull a second hard inquiry because my first paystub would be after the 30 days. She hadn't told me she pulled a hard inquiry until a week later. Her supervisor used the excuse that the loan officer "was new and not aware/trained" and P1FCU's Vice President of Member Services refused to remove this hard inquiry from my account, even after her supervisor admitted that this process was incorrect and were in the wrong. I reported P1FCU to the Better Business Bureau, and the VP said they would not be correcting this and closed the grievance.
I have happily chosen another credit union for my auto loan. This credit union has an A+ rating; was more professional, efficient, and helpful; and guided me through the whole process to ensure it was done correctly the first time. I encourage everyone to steer clear of P1FCU and be aware of the deficient, unprofessional service that P1FCU provides.
This credit union just doesn’t meet the standards that other local credit unions have set, especially related to business accounts. When running a business it’s important to have access to money instantly. Not only do they place insanely long holds on deposited checks, even up to 10 days as we have experienced, but applications such as Venmo are not supported by P1FCU for instant transfers to your account. No matter what you end up waiting a few days to access whatever money you want to deposit unless it is cash. Between their application, ATMs, and money access they are not my favorite for having a business account. Other local unions have much better applications, faster ATMs, and instant access to money no matter what you deposit.

Great rates with prompt and knowledgeable service. I chatted with the first rep on their site and within a couple hours after submitting my application an account specialist called to verify our information and ask for proof of address. Wilma was tremendously helpful and genuinely pleasant to talk with. The plan was for this to be a secondary account but would have no problem switching to P1FCU as my primary account if needed. I also really like that their social media isn’t overtly political or pushing certain social matters. They’re honestly just focused on their members financial success and education in with some community and charitable activity…as it should be.
First of all Sara Mallamo the branch manager is awesome! The whole process for refinancing my vehicle and opening a bank account was seamless. Not only did they lower my interest rate, but they lowered my monthly payment significantly. She has gone out of her way to answer any of my questions and to help me with things that I didn't understand through this process. I am very satisfied with their outstanding customer service. I will use them again for my next auto loan. I just can't say enough about the the excellent customer service that Sara provided. I am very happy with my experience and I will continue to bank with them.
This is the most unprofessional credit union I have ever worked with! I applied for an auto loan and had to follow up with them. They wanted more information and proceeded to be very vague as to what this was. They were asking for documentation that is only required for non-citizens. I was told 3 times that I would receive a call back and never did. I again followed up and was forced to speak with someone other than the loan officer while she instant messaged her back and forth. I once again did not receive a return call as promised to determine what information was being requested. I called the following day to speak with a supervisor, finally got a response and submitted requested information within minutes. I received a follow up call and was told they did not want to process the loan citing inaccurate information and reasons that were not valid such as length of credit history. I am middle aged with probably 30 previous car loans (some for 80k plus) and 4 previous mortgages. Because they were called to the carpet on their incompetence early in the process, they decided NOT to process the loan. After further research on this credit union, that is probably for the best as no one seems to know what the other is doing.
I have had two home loans with this bank since 2008 and two car loans since 2012. They have always had lower rates than any of the other local banks in the area and have never denied me a loan. Unlike fargo who wouldn't even consider giving me a mortgage though I have a credit score over 760.

I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS CREDIT UNOIN!!!! Have a been continuously let down by this guys. The credit union isn't honored by all retailers. I have been out of town and been refused sales of items because I was banking with this institute. The card machine literally read 'no tender with this institution'. On Xmas eve in Spokane isn't a good time for this to happen. Costumer service is 0 out of 10. They're rude and act as if they're inconvenienced by your calls. Now! They charge you $12 to make a debit card payment on your loan. Unbelievable that's the geedest thing I've even heard of in my life. Not surprise just another inconvenience offered by P1FCU. I'm going else where. I would strongly recommend doing the same. You've been warned!!!

About six months ago my daughter wanted to begin establishing credit. She was a member of this credit union and applied for a small personal loan. They told her she needed a co-signer so I went in with her. My account had well over $5,000 in it; not with this credit union, but with my bank. The entire time they dealt with us we stood at the window, with customers in line, so everyone could overhear our conversation. It was an embarrassment for them to tell me I was a risk. Why was I a risk? I was self-employed. I have never been made to feel like such a low life as to stand there with a bank teller explaining to me and my daughter, with everyone overhearing, how she could not apply for a small loan because we were such a risk. We have since closed her account and opened a new account at a location that did work with us....with no problems at all.

I didn't particularly enjoy my loan experience with Potlatch. My daughter, who was also a member of Potlatch, was seeking a loan of $1000 for 90 days. They requested a co-signer, so I went in. Despite having well over $1000 sitting in my account, and despite my having a credit rating over 715, they turned my daughter down saying I was too much of a risk. The man in charge of the loan department was actually quite rude about the whole process and made us feel like we were doing something wrong by even applying. His attitude was that we were bothering him and wasting his time with the whole approval process. I got the feeling that he had already determined he would turn down my daughter's request and was looking for a reason to do so. When I did not provide him with that reason, he simply refused for a baseless reason.

I have been a member at Potlatch 1 federal credit union since 2005. In that time I have been one of the happiest customers. From the always friendly service to the low loan rates you can always count on P1FCU. I really enjoy the local aspect of the P1FCU but with all of the “big bank” options. As far as fees go you will pay a fraction of the cost compared to top leading banks. I have been a member of other banks with outrageous fees and it just does not make financial sense to stay with them, compared to my credit union. They have free checking account and the offer a VISA debit card as well, to make it easier for those of us who do not have time for paper checks.
