Adding to this difficulty is the fact that a portion of the force still uses SAMS and
PBUSE because the Army is still in the process of developing and fielding GCSS--Army.
Changes in
PBUSE, of course, require commanders to re-inventory property to accurately reflect shortages.
* Check that serial numbers on all serial-numbered items in SAMS-E match the serial numbers in
PBUSE. Note that GCSS-Army will use only the last 18 characters of serial numbers from
PBUSE and SAMS-E.
* Conducting a STAMIS communication gunnery by setting up the satellite dishes and computers and ensuring all systems (including VSAT, CAISI, SAMS, SARSS, and
PBUSE) can communicate with one another.
Within each Wave 2 fielding event, two blackout periods occur: one for
PBUSE and one for SAMS-E.
While the task of bringing all this property to record in
PBUSE or DPASE seems to be straightforward, there are two choke points:

Another training initiative that has recently been fielded is the new Property Book Unit Supply Enhanced (
PBUSE) training aids.
In the Property Book Unit Supply Enhanced (
PBUSE), unit-level users can create entire component listings without appropriately validating BOM structures.
The Property Book Unit Supply Enhanced (
PBUSE) is the Army's web-based Combat Service Support property accountability system.
Once a component list is complete, it needs to be updated into
PBUSE. This has the added benefit of a couple things.
