Our Mission & Philosophy

The Humane Society for Hamilton County is one of very few open-admission, truly no kill shelters in the country. We believe every animal deserves a chance to live, love and be loved regardless of age, breed, special medical needs, or disabilities.

Our mission is to save lives, educate communities, and complete families. Because of our remarkable team, and supporters like you, we are building a brighter future for both Hamilton County and Hoosier animals.

Connecting People & Pets

We believe animals possess the ability to connect with people in ways that inspire hope, healing, and purpose. That is why HSHC funds and facilitates programs like Pets Healing Vets that connect Hoosier veterans suffering from PTSD or TBI with emotional support pets.
We also offer age appropriate programming for kids K-12 designed to to teach bite prevention and plant the seeds of kindness, responsibility and philanthropy in children through their love of animals. Learn more about these and other programs HSHC offers the community and animals we serve.
