What is a grace period?

Your grace period is the time period between when your payment is due and when you will be charged a late fee. Most mortgages have a grace period of 15 days, but you should review your paperwork for information specific to your loan.

Can I make a partial payment?

If you can’t make a full payment, contact customer service at 1-800-822-5626. They may be able to assist you in setting up a payment plan.

Can I make a lump sum payment and get my monthly payments lowered?

You may be able to make a lump sum payment of $10,000 or more toward your principal and have your mortgage re-amortized. This means they will lower your payments according to the new balance. For more information, contact them at 1-800-822-5626.

If I make an extra payment, do you apply the funds to the principal or the interest?

You can have funds applied to the principal if you specify that in the memo line of your check. Your account has to be in good standing for the payment to be applied to the principal.
