2025 PNC Personal Loan Review
PNC personal loans have low APRs, ranging from 8.14% - 24.99%, based on applicants’ creditworthiness. While you might be able to find a lower minimum rate from other lenders, PNC’s maximum is one of the lowest around. That means even people who just barely qualify for a loan will still get a good rate. Plus, PNC further minimizes costs because the origination fee is None. PNC offers $1,000 - $35,000 in funding, with 6 - 60 months to pay the loan off.
There are a few drawbacks to PNC personal loans, such as the fact that rates vary heavily by ZIP code. PNC isn’t as transparent as they could be about approval requirements, either. However, the benefits definitely outweigh the shortcomings.
PNC Personal Loan Review Highlights:
PNC personal loan rates: 8.14% - 24.99%
Funding timeline: As soon as the same day you're approved
PNC personal loan requirements: 18+ years old; SSN, ITIN or passport
Loan amounts: $1,000 - $35,000
Payoff periods: 6 - 60 months
Origination fee: None
Late fee: Varies
Customer satisfaction: PNC holds an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and an average user rating of 3.6/5 on WalletHub.
Overall, PNC offers personal loans with very attractive rates, though it’s a bit difficult to get some information on those loans. Fortunately, you can pre-qualify for a PNC personal loan online without hurting your credit. You can also try out WalletHub’s pre-qualification tool to check your status with other lenders.

Worst banking experience I have had in over 30 years. Their online banking app is inadequate and doesn't update for days at a time, leading you to believe that you have funds in your account when it may be low or even negative. They have the highest overdraft fees I have encountered. Forget about making purchases over the weekend; they were not processed until Tuesday, five days later. They also refused to waive overdraft protection fees that other banks are usually willing to do (such as for unexpected automatic withdrawals). When requesting a waiver, we were informed that we had already been granted one in September of 2024 (nearly a year ago). They are also currently involved in a class action lawsuit for "profiting at the client's expense." Do not bank with them.

After running out of checks, I received an automatic shipment of new checks. For $23.68, did I receive two or three boxes of checks (8-12 books)? No, I received only two books of checks with a total of four deposit slips between the two books. Just another insult to injury on top of the $0.01 interest on my balance. What started as my local community bank has morphed into a gigantic conglomerate. No problem... I just switched to a genuine local bank!

There are things in the fine print you must be aware of. You no longer get the advertised rate after you reach $8000 in a year, so you must keep track online. Also, the 3% for restaurants isn't always accurate. You must ask if the restaurant is categorised as such. Recently my family ate at an upscale Spanish restaurant but only received 1% instead of 3% because it was not categorised as a restaurant. The restaurant was full of people, including children, who were eating food at nice tables, but PNC told me I should have asked to see if they were categorised as a restaurant. It had the word restaurant in its name and is listed as a restaurant online. All of this information is in the fine print. You need to know these things when choosing the best benefits on a card.

Customer service is pitiful. The process is designed to make paying off a loan difficult to impossible. They refuse to provide payoff amounts except via fax or postal mail. They refuse to accept cash at a branch for loan payoff because they need "certified funds." It is absolute idiocy.

Applicants for this card, beware. If you do a balance transfer, there is no grace period for purchases. In other words, you will automatically incur interest charges when you make purchases until the balance transfer is paid in full—the 0% APR only applies to balance transfers. Before making any charges on this card, I specifically asked a PNC representative how to avoid paying interest on purchases. I was explained that as long as I make my payments enough to cover the minimum payment due on the balance transfer as well as enough to cover my purchases within the statement cycle, I would not incur interest. This is not true. This card is going in the trash.
When I first got with PNC, I had a Foundation Checking and a Standard Savings; a month later, I was moved to the Standard Virtual Wallet and I absolutely love the PNC Virtual Wallet Account because of the convenience of the account and having all my money together! (Spend, Reserve, Growth.) It's easy to budget and save that way for short-term and long-term savings, which I love. PNC has been amazing for me since I joined them. I had a few hiccups, but this bank is amazing!
I always highly recommend their Virtual Wallet Account or their Foundation Checking if you need a second chance like I did. PNC is awesome!
I was approached by PNC to reconsider my Home Equity Loan, and the entire deal turned out to be deceptive. They urged me to take advantage of the offer, despite my instructions not to squander my time. We spent hours uploading documents to the "secure portal" which, they claim, they never received, forcing us to send them via email. Later, they informed us we had no equity, even though we currently have the loan and possess eight times the loan amount in equity. They also claimed I didn't meet the "owner-occupied" requirement, despite the fact that I reside in the property. They wasted hours of my time asking for documents repeatedly, assuring me we were "pre-approved" and "almost there," only to send a form letter containing fabricated excuses to deny the loan. I am transferring all of my accounts away from this disreputable bank.

I am very impressed with this bank and I'm also impressed with the app because it's easy to use, very user-friendly, and has so many options to save money or invest. It's amazing. There are no words because I was with another bank prior, and they were ancient compared to this.

"Previously, on a trial basis for the loan modification at PNC Bank, I received documentation regarding the due dates of payments and the appropriate addresses for sending them. However, I have not received this information in a timely manner for the current payment. Additionally, contacting someone in the PNC Bank Loan Department over the phone is virtually impossible without being disconnected several times.
Unfortunately, I cannot go to a PNC branch to make the payments due to a security issue in Charlotte, NC. I am also hesitant to make a payment over the phone for the following reasons. Please note that this has been an ongoing issue since 2022.
Chinese infiltration of PNC Bank is a concern. PNC Bank's Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Sanctions program is a sector within Enterprise Compliance, with the Chief AML Officer reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO). The enterprise policy for the program is in line with regulatory requirements and provides governance and oversight of PNC business units. The program establishes minimum BSA/AML and sanctions standards to ensure that PNC offers compliant products and services and conducts business activities in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulatory guidance. The Chief AML Officer provides updates to multiple committees throughout the year.
Punishments for international fraud depend on the nature of the crime and the jurisdiction: - Wire fraud, a federal crime in the United States, may result in up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines. If the crime affects a financial institution, the penalty may increase to 30 years in prison and $1 million in fines. - Anti-Money Laundering (AML) sanctions violations can lead to severe legal consequences, including fines of up to $20 million and imprisonment for up to 30 years.
Fraud is considered false representation, dishonesty, or deceit, and it can violate both civil and criminal law.
I am a victim of a scam at PNC Bank, involving $900,000 consisting of unauthorized international wires sent from my PNC Bank checking and savings accounts to China. The matter at hand is that I did not authorize the international wires that were sent from my accounts. PNC Bank is also wrongfully accusing me of being involved in the scam and the international wire transactions.

PNC is a joke, and the way they handle their credit card clients is terrible. You can have an exemplary account with them, never late, paying your balance off, and they will still decrease your available credit without even informing you. I discovered this by attempting to use my card. I would love to close the account, but of course, closing an account can negatively affect your credit score. PNC can keep that small remaining balance because I work with much better credit companies that respect and appreciate clients with substantially higher credit limits.

The PNC points card is a marketing scam that misleads its consumers. Absolutely do not go with PNC Credit Cards. Any other option is better. The points are worthless. PNC offers good banking options, but it’s credit card is absolutely not one of them. Avoid PNC points card
The website is terrible. They intentionally have it set up so that monthly payments aren't applied on time, causing interest and late fees. DO NOT USE.

This review is specific to how PNC handles mortgages. My mortgage was initially with another company but was sold to PNC, which seems like standard practice in the mortgage industry. I have no complaints about the initial mortgage company, but I do have concerns about how PNC is managing my unfortunate life event.
Legally, I need to remove another person from the existing mortgage, and I qualify for a loan assumption. There were no issues with the loan assumption pre-approval given my income and lack of other debts, so I proceeded with the formal approval and loan assumption. That was 6 months ago, and there isn't an end in sight. Throughout the past 6 months, PNC has requested additional documentation, which I provided, and then went back on their word regarding the loan assumption requirements. It would take weeks for PNC to review each set of additional documents and respond.
What prompted this review is that PNC is conducting multiple hard credit inquiries, which are impacting my credit score and my ability to secure a mortgage through other options. They already have all the possible financial documentation I can provide and are no longer asking for consent before making hard credit inquiries. It seems that PNC does not want me to assume the loan because they could make more money off me if I am forced to refinance. The additional hard inquiries could then serve as justification for an increased interest rate when I am compelled to shift from an assumption to a refinance.
