Outlook login

Post by Pope Viper » 2010-08-29 23:18

I've been trying to get my Outlook client to connect to my hMail server with no luck.

I'm sure this has been brought up numerous times, but I'm stuck.

I've tried to configure outlook, but it can't seem to connect.

Here's the contents of my log:

If you have 'all logging' enabled, then your outlook isn't even trying to connect to your hmailserver.

Where in relation to your hmailserver is your outlook client? Same machine, LAN or Internet?
What are the server settings in your Outlook account?
Just 'cause I link to a page and say little else doesn't mean I am not being nice.

Matt -

Thank you very much for the response. All logging is on.

I am running the server on my workstation until I've gotten the kinks worked out, at which point I'll migrate it to my production server.

The server settings for Outlook are:

Account type: POP3
Incoming server: lost-hills-bunker.com
SMTP server: lost-hills-bunker.com

Login: test
PW: xxxxxxxx

Going through a DLink gaming router. machine running hmail is 192.168.1.121, ports 143, 25, and 110 are all forwarded to this IP. I was able to telnet successfully to the ports earlier, but for some reason, now I can't.

Check your MX records they look disjointed.

Instead of server name, use the local IP address of the server and see how that goes.
(Oh and typically your server names would be like 'mail.domain.com', but your 'mail.' records are different than your FQDN records - this is the disjointed bit)

That's the next thing I looked at.

Based on one thing I read, this is what I got:

right, now to your MX records

I got a different IP address for lost-hills-bunker.com vs mail.lost-hills-bunker.com and I'm not sure that this is correct. It looks to me as though you have some mail services hosted for that domain (POP3 at least). That needs to be tidied up a bit I reckon...
