Rogers Anyplace Discontinued for Digital TV customers

I just got an e-mail indicating they're removing Anyplace TV access to my Digital Cable sub.

I'm still on Digital. I use AnyplaceTV quite a bit on my laptop while I'm working.
This is going to suck.
is there any ignite App that can be used on a mobile device, or via web browser?

Dhanushan answers this above. I find Rogers Ignite TV to be better than the old Digital TV. Better resolution, app supported for other watching on other devices, voice control with the remote, no freezing (yet?) with the streaming box requiring to power cycle and most importantly - Ignite TV costs me less than what I was paying for Digital TV. The promo price difference was enough that I even added more optional channels to my package. And when my promo price ends it's still cheaper than before.

There's a delay with the IgniteTV for live TV (sporting events) vs Digital TV.

I'm in WhatsApp group chats with friends, and when watching a live event, 2 of us with Digital TV are always a few seconds ahead of those on Ignite TV and close 30-45 seconds ahead of those on shady IPTV or online streaming.

I guess if I want to watch Live TV on my desktop, I can either go the shady IPTV route for $10-$15/mo or switch to Ignite.

The cost is cheaper on the Digital TV side as I own 5 HD boxes, including a 4K box -- this will raise my monthly price with Ignite.

The Ignite TV is good. I do like to have the option to select channels that I do not want. The Ignite TV app and the website is really good. And I can record Fairchild channel to watch it later or let relative watch recorded news. This was not possible on Digital TV.

However, the only thing that is terrible about the Ignite TV is that it is about 15-25 sec delayed from real time. So, watching sports is a bit annoying when others are on the regular digital package.

People still watch much TV? My kids don't watch TV at all. I don't watch much except some HGTV and sports. No loss here

I wonder if the login will continue to work on various websites like TSN, Sportsnet, City, CTV and etc. (Where you can login using your TV provider's account).

OP — it is not “due to the CRTC”. They’re saying the changes are being made in accordance with the CRTC code that governs changes to your service.

Ignite TV app is much better than the AnyPlace app. Only thing I wish it had was AirPlay (it does have Chromecast though).

Yeah, I realized after I re-read the email.
Still sucks.

And radio is 10-15 seconds ahead of digital TV. If I'm listening to the game on the radio in another room and hear a home run/goal, I have time to walk to the TV and see it happen. (I guess that means I have time to grab a drink or make a sandwich with streaming.)

Yeah, typically when I'm in the car the radio is always on to the game (whether it's Jays, Raptors, Leafs or whatever game is on the radio).

I have my phone hooked up to the van using carplay and I can see the whatsapp notifications (in reaction to the play/result) from my friends a considerable time after I heard on the radio.

I'm curious about this too.

I currently use the Global TV app to stream HGTV (both live, and the on demand shows). If I can keep doing that, I'm fine with this change.

So do we get a discount now on our current plan for loss of services?

Just like we got a discount when NFL Sunday ticket was removed from the Super Sports Pak a few years ago?

I hope so too.
If I can still log into TSN / Sportsnet and other sites like CityTV, CTV and etc, I'm OK with the change.
Only time will tell.

A channel or package I can understand...

Access to an entire service is a whole other issue in my mind

I cannot log into TSN either ... Get the same error as when I try to log into rogers anyplace.. Also I currently have VIP tv with 357 channels for which i pay $89 and it says i have a great deal that I can instead get ignite regularly $197 for only 169 for the first year (prices may increase) *also includes some internet which i don't need..

Can anyone confirm you can still log into tsn or sportsnet ???
