I had been with Sagelink for many yrs. I always loved their customer service, so I had never switched banks even though I moved, I went out of my way to go to this bank just because I always knew I'd be welcomed by name, and the great service.
UNTIL... I was hospitalized with mental health issues and was no longer able to work. I set up arrangements with "payment solutions" provided my letter of hardship as requested, while continuously keeping in contact with my bank, giving them my SSI updates etc, as well as making my good faith payments each month. Well...Sagelink, WITHOUT my permission took the liberty of applying for a loan in my name to pay off my credit card. I then went to withdrawl my funds and close my account, advising I will still be making payments, I just refuse to deal with a bank who would do such a thing. They told me they were keeping my money and too bad, regardless of what was promised to me beforehand. With their big smiles on their face. This is not morally good business whatsoever. I was not running from my obligations. They also mentioned they sent a letter to an old address notifying me of this, of which the address was over 6 months old. They HAD my new address, as well as continued conversations over the phone.
Don't say you weren't warned... :(
