I use SIU several times , but I always pay my payment on time. SIU is very great place to finance something like a vehicle, when you need them they are there. I plan on paying extra every chance I get If I can. I have 48 months on it. You’re section wouldn’t let me put it in.

They were very helpful to use at are time of need ,got it for grandson . He only had it a few months ,a deer ran out in front of him and he swerved to miss hitting it .INS. totaled it .God was with him and his brother . Sore for several days , SIU is great ,plus good rates .I’d give them A+.
Absolutely the worse to deal with. They do what they want and will not resolve issues. I have had continuous insurance coverage on my car since purchase, they claim it lapped in November and they are trying to charge late fees on insurance they bought on my car. Even my Country Companies agent faxed them coverage statements. After 2 times them saying they didn't get them, they were faced again. They are still trying to charge fees and just saying they're working on it. Pathetic!!!

I try to bank locally. I had an account at Peoples but wanted to leave because the Bank President is a big Trump supporter. I decided to go to SIUCU. This was not a happy choice. When you go into the Marion branch, be prepared to wait for up to a hour or even more for help. I opened a checking and a savings account. I put my daughter on the account as a Transfer on Death (TOD) recipient, which I assume is pretty common in an area with such a high proportion of senior citizens. A few months later, I received a bond payment check, with the designation of my daughter as TOD. The check was written to me, it was my bond, and if I had died before the bond matured, it would have gone to my daughter. Common bestate planning tool. The bank teller informed me I could not deposit it into my account because I had to have a special trust account for my daughter. I then went to find a bank ofgicer. I got to speak to the same woman who had opened my account, whic, remember used the TOD designation for y SIUCU acvount. This woman did not want to deposit my money into my account but I was so insistent she called a higher officer at home. He told her that it was ok to deposit. So, these clueless people are looking a me, a living breathing human, and deciding my daughter has a claim on a check written to me only with het listed as in a separate notation indicating that on my death it would be transferred to my daughter. The absolute ignorance of these employees is staggering. Now I wonder if they will be capable of transferring my money to my daughter when I die. I am thinking about changing banks. These folks are poorly trained or just atupid.
The WORST......i have never been treated with so little respect. ...I'm a 6+ year SIU member and a senior citizen and i needed a very ,very, small personal loan to retain an attorney. Josh R took my app at the harrisburg location, talked my into asking for more than i needed, asked me what is was for, personal loan! Personal legal matter!...I answered, then he said got me approved but the said whats the attorneys name?...he said while smirking!.."we need that for the check"...NO you dont, its a "personal loan"...his reply was then, we "have to have the attorneys name"...or no loan!...He was still smirking...like he just caught me at something...a lie?....Its a personal loan!...so i now became suspecting that this Credit union was implying i was lieing and just to prove it, i offered a 2019 vehicle , "as collateral"......"approved"...but once again, Josh Ramsey said "underwriting still wants the attorneys name, for the check"....there it was, they discriminated and all but called me a lier!...im over 60,on retired, and cant believe this guy said what he did....im now contacting Aarp and my senator to see what banking laws this union broke....im totaly discusted!

Do you value your time, customer service, competency, and trustworthiness? If you answered yes to any or all then this bank is not for you. The fail in every aspect. They screw up, guess who's fault it is? Hint: It isn't theirs. They fail when dealing with you afterward? They fail at even processing simple transactions over the phone. In an era where everything is done online or on our phones. I think for my next loan I'll head to the local loan shark, I think he's far more trustworthy and I'll let my local meth head handle my money.
I am writing this review in regards to Dave G. only. I have been banking with SIU credit union for several years now....When i say several years this has been 6+ years. However today i noticed my loan payment had directly came out of my acct. and this has never happens in the 4+ years that i have been paying on this. I called and asked to speak with Dave G. since his name on on the receipt that was emailed to me. Dave G. is an inconsiderate asshole with awful manners and no clue on how to be professional. He is running the collection side of SIU credit union in the ground with his actions/rude mouth. He told me several times i could speak when it was my turn...the reason he said that is because he wouldn't hear me out and let me speak so he started talking over me and let me know that i could speak when it was my turn. How rude? Professional? He also tried hanging up on me when i didn't respond to his dumb question..." if he could speak now". Dave G. Needs to be retrained on customer service!

SIU Credit Union has been a great place to bank. I started off with a motorcycle loan and liked it so much that I had transferred all my accounts within two weeks. Their customer service is great and if there's a problem they fix it quickly. Sitting down to open or add an account is a low-stress process, and they're up front about all their rates and fees. I've been using their online banking almost from the beginning and it's a solid system. It's easy to manage all my accounts online, which is good since I've moved to another state. Still, I've kept my account and will continue to keep it for the foreseeable future.

I have had an account with SIU Credit Union for the last seven years and it has been a consistently great experience. The application process was easy and any problems we've had along the years have been corrected quickly and efficiently. The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome when you come in. I've moved away from the area but I still have my account and now do my banking online, which is a breeze. I'll be keeping this account for years to come.
These guys were pretty good when i was with them, but left them after I moved. They only have 6 locations, so if you are not nearby one I cannot recommend them. They did have pretty convenient hours, I've been with credit unions in the past that are only open until 1pm for example, but they were open until either 5 or 6pm during the week.
The checking account I had was free with no minimum balance, the only catch was that my money orders and cashier's checks were not free. There was no fee to sign up, though they did have a $5 minimum balance required at all times that I got back when I closed my account. I remember their interest rates being higher than big banks at the time, but cannot recall what they are. I suppose that's irrelevant since it's been awhile though.
Overall good people, nice staff, some nice locations for branches if you're in the area. Worth considering if you are looking for a credit union.
I have had checking and savings accounts with SIU Credit Union for about 4 years. The only branch I ever visited was the West Branch located on West Main Street, so my experiences have been only with the employees of that particular establishment. I always found the bank employees to be extremely personable and knowledgeable. It's hard to obtain any kind of services from them if you have poor credit, but they always worked to find solutions for me and my spouse. They also have excellent interest rates on their most popular savings account type – even higher than ING Direct and also higher than other banks known for their high interest. As a whole, I always recommended their services to residents over any of the local banks.
This is one of the worst companies that I have ever dealt with in my entire life. I have a good credit union now, but I discovered SIU Credit Union when I was getting my life started. I needed to find a legit Credit Union to borrow a loan from, to build my home. After hearing a few good things about them from a couple of locals, I decided to go with SIU. It was a very unfriendly, uncomfortable environment when I took my first visit, and my gut feeling told me to go with another Credit Union, and drop SIU. I didn't listen, and got the loan anyway, and that was the worst decision I have ever made. They gave me the money with ease, but hidden within the fine print were the interest charges. I had to pay back 50% more than I initially borrowed. This was five years ago, and I am still paying their ridiculous debt.
