FINAL WEEK OF SCHOOL SCHEDULE
As we prepare for “Finals” week or the final week of school, below is some basic information for your review.
Teachers will communicate to students and families their expectations and plans for “Finals Week” that begins on Monday, May 20th. .
Seniors that have fulfilled their course requirements may be excused from final exams and would not report to school during those exam testing days (Mon.. 5/20 - Thur. 5/23). This will help staff identify and schedule help sessions for students with remaining course work to fulfill graduation requirements.
Students that have an unexcused tardy to school risk being held to ensure the testing environment is not interrupted. Parents, if your student is going to be tardy please contact our attendance line. All tardy students will report to Door 5C.

First block runs from 8:50-11:50. Second block runs from 11:57-3:40. This is a longer time period than our traditional schedule. During this week, students will only report to two classes per day.

Skip-a-Final Info
The skip-a-final incentive is back. If you are in good standing as it relates to grades, attendance, and behavior you may qualify to skip-a-final exam (or exams seniors). All applications require teacher and administrative approval before the incentive is confirmed. The deadline to submit skip-a-final forms is Wednesday May 15th.

AP EXAMS & BILLING
AP exam bills were sent on Monday, April15. Students/Families can pay with cash or a check made out to Lawrence Central High School in the Guidance Office.
AP exams start May 6, and students will receive information about testing times and locations later on in April.

RETURNING STUDENT VERIFICATION PROCESS (RSVP)
The Returning Student Verification Process (RSVP) is a paperless online verification of a student’s return for the next school year. This process is completed Skyward Family Access and is mandatory for all families returning for 2024-2025, as all forms for the new year are included.
The process must be completed for each student enrolled in the district. If you do not have your Skyward Family Access account information, please contact your child's school. If you are not returning, please contact your child's school.

INDIANA SUN BUCKS
Summer 2024 will be the first year for Indiana SUN Bucks, a new benefits program that provides families $120 for each eligible school-aged child to buy groceries when school is out. Summer is a time when many children lose the free and reduced-price meals they get at school, and when households might need a little extra help putting meals on the table. Most eligible families will get these benefits automatically, but some parents will need to apply. This new program is available in addition to free meals that kids of all ages can get at summer meal sites in their communities.

NATIONAL JUNIOR TENNIS & LEARNING OF INDY SUMMER PROGRAMMING
National Junior Tennis & Learning of Indianapolis will hold its Summer Youth Tennis Program at Lawrence Central and Lawrence North High School from June 5-July 21. Classes are held on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday nights. These are beginner classes for youth ages 5 to 18. Program scholarships are available.

LTec Summer School
Registration for the 20245 LTeC (Lawrence Township e-Campus) Online Summer School session is now open to Lawrence Township families.
- LTeC offers Lawrence Central students the opportunity to earn and/or recover high school credits during the summer, working online through our Canvas Learning Management System.
- Classes are structured as an asynchronous learning experience, but each course is led by a licensed MSD of Lawrence Township teacher available for support and synchronous learning opportunities throughout the term.
The LTeC Summer Session begins Monday June 3 and concludes Thursday July 18. Current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders are eligible to enroll in up to two LTeC summer school classes.

Jumpstart Summer School
JumpStart 2024 is the MSD of Lawrence Township's no-cost summer program, intended to provide structured academic support and high levels of engagement, providing a "JumpStart" for the upcoming school year.
JumpStart will be held every Monday through Thursday, beginning Monday, June 3 through Thursday, June 27, 2024. There will be no programming Wednesday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.
The program is open to all students entering Grade 1 through Grade 8. Grades 9 & 10 are by invitation only. JumpStart will be housed at all elementary, middle, and high school buildings and students will attend the school to which they are assigned for the 2024-2025 school year.
Lawrence Township eCampus (LTeC) will continue to be available for students to earn high school credit and enrollment will begin after Spring Break.

Indiana Online Academy
Lawrence Central students also have the opportunity to take selected classes through Indiana Online Academy (IOA) if a specific course is not offered by LTeC. These courses are also listed on the flyer below.
Registration for IOA courses begins on April 3rd, when LTeC registration opens to non-MSDLT students. We would recommend any student interested in an IOA course consult with their counselor before registering.
NEW NLPS BIOTECH PATHWAY FOR CLASS OF 2028
MSDLT is thrilled to partner with Ivy Tech and Eli Lilly to offer the Biotech Pathway.
Students can earn dual credit from Ivy Tech in each level of the pathway, get valuable workplace experience, earn career certificates, and have a direct pipeline to a high-wage, high demand job at Eli Lilly upon high school or college graduation.
Students can enter the pathway beginning in grade 9. Interested rising freshmen can contact their school counselor for more info!
PARENT PICK-UP/DROP-OFF
Please do not park on the street to pick your student up or drop them off.
This is extremely dangerous and irresponsible when it comes to the safety of your student and others. Parents are expected to use our drop off process in the main parking lot by the stadium off of Richardt St. Parents, please also speak to your student about using the crosswalk when crossing the street. We will continue to address this with students as well.

Your students' attendance matters! Attendance drives everything. We want your student to be successful in all aspects of their school experience. Make sure your student has great attendance during term 4 to ensure their academic success!

Online Tutoring is still available through our partner Varsity Tutors!
Varsity Tutors allows families to schedule tutoring around their busy schedules and is completely FREE to Lawrence Central students! They can provide live online tutoring in all subject areas offered at LC, including AP and dual credit courses. They can also provide support for SAT and ACT prep whenever you need it.

Thanks to the Lawrence Township School Foundation, LC teachers are providing after school tutoring every Monday and Thursday in room C110 (the AVID room) from 3:50 pm to 4:50 pm.
Tutors are available to assist students with assignments, projects, studying, etc. in English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science, and Social Studies. Interested students do not need to sign up, they just need to report to C110 and check in with our WIN Coordinator by 3:50 pm on tutoring days.

COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER
If you are interested in being our second commencement speaker (class valedictorian will also speak during the ceremony), the time to apply is now! This speaker will be chosen by a panel of LC teachers and staff based on a preliminary speech audition that will take place from 4-5:30 pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, in room B131.
All applications to be the speaker (see below) must be received by Sunday, May 12, at 11:59 pm. A rough draft copy of the speech must also be sent electronically to 12th Grade Assistant Principal Corey McGarrell < coreymcgarrell@msdlt.k12.in.us > prior to the Tuesday May 14 audition. We will notify the selected speaker on the morning of Thursday May 16 and work with them to ensure that they are prepared for the ceremony June 6.

The Lawrence Education Association is accepting applications for the 2024 Becky Crum Memorial Scholarship, worth $500.
One scholarship will be awarded to an LC senior graduating in the top half of their class. Applicants must commit to continuing their education after high school graduation in a “helping” field that may include but is not limited to education, social work, counseling, nursing, healthcare or criminal justice for consideration.

Ford Fund is investing $2 Million to support automotive technicians entering the industry.

A.C.E. AWARD SCHOLARSHIP
The National Exchange Club offers a scholarship opportunity to graduating seniors who’ve overcome great adversity to accomplish that achievement. The Lawrence chapter of the club is accepting applications for candidates for the spring semester; one boy and one girl. Lawrence Central, Lawrence North and Lawrence Advance Academy each have these two opportunities, per semester.
The local level prize is $300. They can then move onto the Exchange club’s district level, possibly receiving $1,200 and further, to the national prize level, offering $15,000.

The site is much like the Common App used for college admissions, collecting a lot of information about the student and then searching for scholarships which match the student account. It helps take scholarship search--which can feel very overwhelming--down to a more manageable task.

The Sharing Place (located at LECC) is in dire need of volunteers to keep the pantry running smoothly and to ensure the seamless operation of the pantry in providing essential food supplies to families in Lawrence Township facing hardships. A a variety of volunteer roles available, ranging from helping shoppers to sorting and stocking goods and maintaining cleanliness in the pantry. INDY YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
The Indianapolis Youth Leadership Academy (IYLA) is a tuition free five-day learning experience for young men and women 15 - 18 years of age, interested in receiving a basic knowledge of leadership regarding individuals and organizations.
Students are accepted from the Indianapolis metropolitan area including the surrounding counties. The only requirements are 1.) the ability to do basic high school class work, 2.) a desire for success, 3.) a positive attitude, and 4.) a good work ethic.
The focus of the instruction is on the individual leader, as well as specific ways the students can lead people with differing levels of ability and motivation. In each of the classes presented, character, ethics, mentorship, service to others, and individual success are stressed by the instructors.
The instruction, all materials (in a full binder, presented to each student who may keep it for a lifetime of reference) and lunch each day are being offered at no cost to the student. Each student receives credit for 45 hours of in-service academic training.
All Academy instruction and work done by the student may be done during the class hours as there will be practical exercises and time to work on projects above the material, training, and information covered by the instructors.
The Indianapolis Youth Leadership Academy is not a camp or summer recreation program! It is designed to give each participant a head start in a successful life working with other individuals and organizations.
