Spartanburg Community Fund

Support the Foundation’s grantmaking to nonprofit organizations that help improve the lives of residents across our County.

What Does a Community Foundation do?

We work to improve the lives of all Spartanburg County residents.

We protect, preserve, grow, and distribute philanthropic resources throughout our community.

We do this in partnership with individuals, families, businesses and corporations, nonprofits, and professional advisors to foster change, share knowledge, convene around important issues, and maximize impact in the community. We work directly with donors to fulfill charitable goals by providing a variety of customized giving options, handling fund administration, and offering expertise on current and local needs.

Promote Philanthropy

Caring for Others

Philanthropy is defined in different ways. The origin of the word philanthropy is Greek and means “love for mankind.” Today, philanthropy includes the concept of voluntary giving (of time, talent, and/or resources) by an individual or group to promote the common good. Philanthropy also commonly refers to grants of money given by foundations to nonprofit organizations. Philanthropy addresses the contribution of an individual or group to other organizations that in turn work for the causes of poverty or social problems-improving the quality of life for all citizens.

SCF donors and fundholders direct grants into the community.
