Yeah, I am always having trouble accessing my account with them.

There's your Square Enix Account and then you have the mogstation which houses your final fantasy accounts, the way it's split off is so confusing. I once confused one account with the other and bought an expansion for the wrong account.

Even buying an expansion and linking a key from steam was a pain in the butt.

Be nice if Sony adopted what Microsoft has which is just a hub for all your subscriptions and it's just a one click.

works well for games like Elder Scrolls online. The ease of signing up and unsubscribing makes me comfortable doing that again in the future for a few months at a time.

Stuff like this why I can't get into those MMO games that made by SE anymore.

I would get back into that again, only if they get their shits together and fix that account system for real.

They have like 2 MMO games that are running in the West and only one of them uses this system. XI is still stuck with Playonline, which is another nightmare.

I think I am somehow locked out of their online store due to some issues as well🤷‍♂️

Been trying to change my email on my Square Enix members account for about a year now. You can't do it online once you log in. Their customer service did it for me once but It didnt stay for long.

Trying to play XI is even worse. Buried deep somewhere in your SE account is a page that has auto generated some fake ass login info for PlayOnline and you have to use that account information to play FFXI. You can't just sign in with your SE account or your 14 account

Just echoing the thousand others posts - yeah, it's gutter trash and completely inexcusable to have such a convoluted account system in 2020.

We had this shit figured out back in 2005.

As I found out with avengers beta, there appears to be two different square accounts. Have you tried to log in via the lodestone ff website, or via the square website?

I just tried the Lodestone website, it gave me a "System Error" when I tried to "access" the Free Trial part... 😅
Everything about this sucks. It's almost impressive how they can fail this much.

LMAO that was me a few weeks ago when i decided to give the free trial a try. it reminded me of the same trash experience i had when creating an account to play ffxi during launch. and then again recently when trying the avengers beta. i dont know how you can create such an inept account management system, but square enix seem to be pros at it. its even more pathetic that the experience hasnt changed since the ffxi days.

Square Enix accounts gave me a god damn headache whenever I went to set up my account for Avengers. Bad first impression that probably hampered my enjoyment of the game a bit.

Add me to the pile. I wanted to get back in and do a trial version when it was up but the process of verifying account information, making sure it was the right one, linking with PSN, etc etc. Utter madness and I gave up and never wanna touch it again.

I gave up. Then I decided I should try one more thing and got on the phone with SE support and they got me sorted within 10 minutes (after I was on hold for 45 minutes). Worth it, I'm enjoying FFXIV quite a bit.

Its the worst yeah. I remember when they introduced the free to level 30 thing and I wanted to play. I tried to set up an account it legit took like 30 minutes because apprantly I had already made an account so it wasn't recognizing my psn email address.

The whole SE account system is annoying as fuck. There were like FFXI accounts that could become FFXIV accounts that were then SE accounts that are different from SE Memebers accoutns which are different from SE store accounts except FFXIV accounts can sometimes be used to log into the SE store?

It's all needlessly confusing and annoying.

Funny I saw the thread title and thought I must have posted it without knowing - I also started getting back into FF14 after playing the trial a few years ago, thanks to the Ivalice and Nier content and cheap time cards on New Egg.

Couldn't get into the account associated with my PSN and there's no way to start a new one. Tried figuring out which email was associated with the account and couldn't find one - I evidently have a ton of SE accounts but none of them the one linked to my PSN. Emailed support Friday didn't hear back until the next week. Finally got into the game and have been enjoying it...

And then my account locked me out for suspicious activity (I presume finally getting the account email changed and then changing the password). Had to reset again.

Despite all this enjoying the game and decided to buy some in game stuff. And as I check out - another error - the account won't let me make any purchase via credit card or the SE account FF14 credit. I'm literally throwing money at them they won't take.

Emailed support again got a canned reply Friday afternoon, responded back immediately and now I'm stuck waiting until Monday again at least to upgrade the game or buy any in game stuff.

Every interaction with the SE account stuff is a nightmare.

At least they got rid of Playonline, the service you had to log into to play... Final Fantasy XI and that's it.

Your login username was a random string of letters and numbers.

I feel you OP. Tried to get it right a couple of times, several times before remembering why i gave up last time. It aint a bitcoin valve i´m trying to hack, just trying to log in to the account to play a damn game.

It is the absolute worst. I wanted to get back into FFXIV, for some reason my DOB was wrong, I had to send them my driving license and they said that still wasn't enough info to get my account back? this is after the hours of trying to find the account name in the first place because the email isn't enough.

And then I do all of that and realise the new free trial thing won't work anyway on an existing account, despite there being loads of now free content I haven't seen. Ridiculous, really.

Emails in SE's XIV account system are case sensitive. The PS4 also often capitalizes the first letter of what you're typing. Have you tried resetting the password for "[email protected]" instead of "[email protected]"? Check specifically where the confirmation email was sent (including capitialization)

It's always this one here. Happened to me twice in the past 6 years lol. Otherwise no problems at all. It's like any other account.

Edit: lol@some of you giving up completely. How do some of you even get their life together? :D If anyone needs help contact me. Takes 2 minutes to set up.

Same experience as op, but I think I dodged a bullet, MMOs are too time consuming, playing it would have annihilated my productivity.

I had a similar situation when I tried to start XIV when the patch hit. I had tried to play the game back in 2014 and after some time I ended up cancelling my sub. But I cancelled the account as well. So when I eventually found out how my email was capitalized I couldn't do anything. Thankfully sending in a ticket to SE was faster than what people had told me and a few hours later they reactivated my account.

S-E is terrible with account management, absolutely useless. Unless you have everything about your account saved somewhere, and I mean everything, and you forget something. Good luck, might as well start over with a new game and new account because the support is not much better.

Yeah...it's bad. Basically if you had any old account on the game before and wanted to play the free trial, you'd probably be better off just making a new SE account, XIV account, and new Steam or PSN account, with zero ties in name or information to your old one. I believe their system merges accounts that they think are the same person or some shit. Any information that would give away that you are the same person will likely trigger it.
