Can't Log in
Hey me and my gf were looking to get into this game. I gave her my old laptop and downloaded this game using my steam account to test it out and it ran great on the laptop. Then I signed out and downloaded it to my PC and then she made her SWTOR account through the website and tried to log into SWTOR through steam on the laptop but now it only says she can't log in because she needs to use the steam account she usually plays on? We both do not have any SWTOR accounts steam linked. On my PC, I am able to log into my SWTOR AND hers via MY steam account but her steam account cannot. Please help she's a big fan of Bioware games and we wanted to play cooperative together for this game hearing good things about it

She needs to go to the SWTOR website and to her account settings. Somewhere in there she can set the Steam account linked to her SWTOR account.

Unfortunately there is only the option to Unlink and not link. Every other post that I've read says you should be able to log in to link it but that's the issue it won't let her log in due to it giving the same error over and over

if you can't get it to work, you could always download it from the swtor website instead and play without using steam

She needs to make her OWN steam account and link it to her swtor account. You can't use one steam account for 2 swtor accounts.

Besides that, a steam account is free to make, so no reason not to.

Forgot to mention in the post that she does have her own steam account and initially tried to log in to it (she likes to have her achievements on her account) but again, the same error tells her that she needs to be on the steam account she "usually plays on"? I think it could tie due to the fact I first downloaded the game on my steam account the the laptop, then logged out, gave the laptop to her to log in. Could be bugged to initial steam account first to download on system? We've already tried re-installing too but same results. Just looking for a way for her to play with her steam account still but she would be upset to download a third time.

Then she needs to unlink the accounts. Once that's done, she should be able to log into her own SWTOR account via her own Steam account. If she still can't, maybe the SWTOR account she wants to use is linked to another Steam account.

Hmm. Maybe uninstalling steam will fix it. Try logging into steam use the switch account in options. If that doesn't work, then completely uninstall and re-install steam.

I once downloaded the game in 2017 on a potato PC, made an account, couldnt run the game and deleted it. Now that I have a MUCH better game, I tried logging in with the SAME account, and it says the standard error message you've all mentioned. I go to the account page on the proper website, and look at the "Steam Unlink" but there is NO option to unlink. It doesn't even say it's linked to begin with. So I can't even unlink my steam from the account, to make a new account. So now I have 2 accounts that neither work with the steam version download. Only the client version from the website itself, but I'd obviously rather have it on steam.
