I had a negative experience with the bank. I went to open a savings account with Truist Bank but they closed the account the next day. I showed my passport, Social Security number, and work permit, all of which are legal, and they still don't want to return my money, $2,800.00. The people from the fraud department won't provide an answer as to why they refuse to return my checks even though they've already cashed them. They are inflexible and offer no assistance of any kind, nor are they willing to provide their first and last names. I don't recommend anyone to open an account there; beware.
They are causing trouble for their customers. The phrasing they use in online banking for changing passwords doesn't make sense at all; they can't even use simple language like 'change your passwords.' Also, they are separating the joint accounts that we have had for more than 15 years. I was really hurt and frustrated because it seems like they think they can control their customers with their misguided ideas.
For Truist Bank's leadership: Do you think your customers lack of education to the point where they don't understand of what is right and what is wrong? The way you have done this shows that you lack of common sense. Treating your customers in such a dismissive way is ill-advised. Don't you realize that people have logic and understand what you are trying to do? Don't you think that you could be causing trouble by potentially affecting the health of your customers through stress and problems you created, not to mention wasting their time with your poorly conceived actions regarding their accounts?
Finally, on April 4th, after my car was repaired, I wired the payoff to the loan company, thinking my problems were over. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I received a threat in the mail regarding the monthly payments they had refused to accept. When I called, they assured me everything was fine, but on April 5th, I received a call claiming I now owed $1,604, in addition to having just sent the new payoff of $643.41. This meant I was looking at three months of payments plus late fees and negative marks on my credit score, all of which are illegal for the bank to do. I have to call them on Monday, and I'm willing to bet they won't process my payoff until I deal with the illegal charge of $1,604. Do not do business with liars and thieves. This bank is both. Beware of using them for any loans.
I was a bit taken aback. I informed one of the counter employees that I had an appointment, and so forth, and she replied that he had left for the day. She was only mildly surprised by this revelation and mentioned she could find someone else who could assist me.
And she did.
The point, however, is that a Branch Leader stood me up for an appointment. I'm not sure anyone as careless and irresponsible should be in charge of any amount of money. He's certainly not interested in mine.
So, I'm closing my accounts.

How much is the Truist overdraft fee?
The correct answer, Lauren, is $36. You may want to actually know what you're talking about before you post these things. That Lauren person saying Truist doesn't charge an overdraft because they dont put through items if u don't have enough money in yer account is WRONG. Not only did they put through a check when I didn't have enough money, but they actually put the check through a day before it was dated (which...
