Medical education has been increasingly called upon to ensure that medical students should graduate as competent practitioners possessing the skills and understanding necessary to be able to carry out thorough medical history, clinical examination and clinical procedures with minimal risk to the patient. Learning by using the skills lab and simulators provides a stress free environment for the medical student to practice clinical methods and procedures. Repeated practice help the students to improve their skills and perfect their technique in a safe environment which poses no risk to patients, and also help students to obtain feedback and metrics on their performance.

This is a core course in Neuroscience. It covers the essential normal Neuro-anatomy, Neuro- physiology and Neuro-pharmacology of the human central nervous system and aims to lay the foundation for teaching of clinical neurology and psychiatry. It demonstrates how many of the common neurological disorders can be understood in terms of anatomical and Physiological lesions of the brain and the spinal cord.

To provide the student with a thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts of pharmacology, enable the student describe the pharmacology and therapeutic applications of drugs acting on various living systems. Additionally, to provide the student with a sound understanding of the principles of rational pharmacotherapy and containment of antimicrobial resistance.

This course has three components, namely general and systemic pathology, haematology, and chemical

pathology. General and systemic pathology introduces the fundamental principles of disease mechanism

and processes, histopathological nomenclature; which are applied to understand the aetiology,

pathogenesis and pathophysiology of systemic diseases. This haematology component provides the

student with an understanding of the principles and concepts of various haematological processes in healthy and disease

This course in Community Based Education (CBE) and Scientific Method (SM) is designed to

provide the student with an understanding of the community and methods of learning medicine in the

context of the community in which patients live. Additionally, it introduces the student to principles

scientific method (research) as the basis for medical practice and the importance of evidence-based

practices. Students apply the research skills to the community context.

The course introduces the student to the basic aspects of microbial morphology and differentiation,

and principles of immunological responses to microbial infection. The course prepares the student

for advanced learning in microbial related courses and disease management

This Course introduces the principles and practice of surgery with emphasis on the surgical pathology seen in this part of the world, apprises students on the clinical examination of the surgical patient and inculcates the appropriate attitude to the practice of surgery.

The OBG 5010 course is the core ‘Obstetrics and Gynaecology’ clerkship that introduces the student to the field of obstetrics and gynaecology. Obstetrics and Gynaecology is concerned with the health of a pregnant woman and the general well being of a woman in general.

Aims

1. To introduce the principle of internal medicine

2. To introduce the clinical skills for obtaining relevant history and eliciting physical signs.

3. To introduce the attitudes required to practice clinical medicine

4. To introduce bedside practical procedures and investigations in internal medicine

The PCH 5010 course is the ‘Core Paediatrics and Child Health Junior clerkship’ which introduces the student to the field of paediatrics. Paediatrics is concerned with the health of infants, children and adolescents; their growth and development; and their opportunities to achieve full potential as adults.

The relationship between health worker and patient has an important part to play in encouraging healthy behaviors. This relationship is affected by a number of factors including communication. A poor relationship between health worker and patient can lead to poor levels of adherence to treatment programs. To be able to communicate effectively with others is at the heart of all patient care, for if the health practitioner cannot identify problems accurately, care will be based on assumptions rather than on the expressed needs of the individual. Communication, therefore needs to be effective so that care can be planned on the basis of the patient’s actual problems, rather than on what we think are

his/her problems.

Aim: To   provide the   students with an   understanding of   the factors with influence effectivecommunication between a doctor and a patient and to promote sensitivity to ethical and cultural issues in communication.

  • This course is a study of current personal computer hardware including personal computer assembly.
  • It covers combinational and sequential logic circuits.
  • Topics include number systems, Boolean algebra, logic families, medium scale integration (MSI) and large scale integration (LSI) circuits, analog to digital (AD) and digital to analog (DA) conversion, and other related topics.
  • Upon completion, students should be able to construct, analyze, verify, and troubleshoot digital circuits using appropriate techniques and test equipment.

Course Description

The course concentrates on the various techniques on spreadsheet which can address the real world problems.

It gives the knowledge on uncertainty/probability of some events there impact on linear programming.

Study on correlation and regression techniques for various programming models.

This concentrates on implementation of Monte Carlo Simulation techniques.

Course Objective

The main objective of this course is to impart the knowledge to the students that they can develop their own models by the help of various spreadsheet techniques.

To have the thorough knowledge in objective functions and their use.

To design a spreadsheet with the assumptions and giving the solution for real time world problems

Addressing uncertainty and Probability in Models
