The following information was forwarded to providers by UCAS on 14th March 2019:

Upcoming DfE Transition

From April we will be working closely with the DfE to move all English based providers onto their new ‘Publish’ tool. We have put the below information together to clear up any questions you may have, but please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any further queries.

How will the transition affect me?
After the transition, all English providers will be required to enter their course data into the DfE’s new ‘Publish’ tool, instead of using ‘Web-link: Institution Data’.   All providers will still manage their applications through ‘Web-link: Application Data’.

When will this take place?
All English providers will migrate onto the DfE’s new ‘Publish’ tool from April, with the transition expected to be completed in May.

How will the transition work?
You will receive a confirmation email from the DfE, informing you about the timing of the transition shortly before it takes place. The day before the course management service moves onto the new ‘Publish’ platform, we will email you to let you know. Following this, you will receive confirmation from the DfE that the transition is complete, and will then have access to the new features on ‘Publish’. You do not need to take any action yourself for the transition to happen.

What about the plans for Apply?
For the 2019/20 recruitment cycle, applicants will continue to apply to all providers and all programmes through UCAS as normal. Preparation for this cycle is already well underway. As we mentioned in our last bulletin, the DfE has announced plans to develop their own teacher training admissions service. We are continuing to work with the DfE on the transition for this service and will keep you updated with the progress.

I have further questions, who can I contact?
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with your relationship manager at UCAS if you have any questions. If you would prefer to speak to the DfE, you can contact them at: becomingateacher@digital.education.gov.uk
