Digication on Compass 2g

Accessing Digication via the Compass 2g building block will help you to streamline and consolidate the online spaces you and your students will navigate to use ePortfolios in your course. Although Digication can continue to be accessed through illinois.digication.com, the Compass 2g building block will put ePortfolios right into your Compass course. You and your students can create, share, and access ePortfolios through the building block, and you'll be able to create and grade Digication assignments from inside Compass, automatically adding them to your Compass Gradebook along with any non-portfolio assignments.

Because you and your students can still use illinois.digication.com to access your ePortfolios, end-of-term means only that students no longer have access to Compass course spaces. Through illinois.digication.com, students will continue to have access to Digication after graduation. 

How to Add the Digication Building Block to Your Course

The video below walks you through how to add the Digication Building Block to your Compass course. It includes a brief walkthrough for setting up the Digication tool and creating a link to it for students to access associated portfolios and assignments.

Summary of Steps:

1. Find the course to which you'd like to add the Digication Building Block 
2. Select "Customization" from menu on left
3. Select "Tool Availability" from new submenu
4. Find Digication in the list of tools
5. Click the first checkbox next to Digication
6. Scroll down and click submit

Troubleshooting

The Digication link has disappeared from my Compass course.

We are currently investigating a few incidents where the link instructors have made to give their students access to Digication disappears from the course. In fact, the Digication tool itself has disappeared. You need to take the following steps to get it, and the link to it, back:

1. In the Course Management panel, go to Customization and click on Tool Availability.
2. On the list of tools, scroll to Digication and tick the first box to the right of the name.
3. Click the Submit button.
4. You will need to recreate the Tool Link to make the tool available to your students. In the Student navigation area above the Course Management panel, click on the plus (+) button and choose Tool Link.
5. Give the link a name and choose Digication as the type. Be sure to tick the box, "Available to Users." Click the Submit button.

Your content is not affected. Once you've made the tool available, you should be able to verify that your portfolios, templates and assignments are still on the Digication tool page.
