I want to transfer my domain from Uk2 net to wordpress – need assistance

    I want to move my address of http://www.llassociates.co.uk from UK2net to yourselves at wordpress. I have been given instructions from them about how to do this but i can’t seem to see anything on your site. I have found plenty about ‘mapping’ but as i understand it, wouldn’t that just divert or move people to my wordpress site when typing into the domain, rather than it being the host? The main problem i have is that i want the domain transfered fully so that my wordpress site will contain full, proper URL’s such as llassociates.co.uk/contactus, llassociates.co.uk/home – will this be the case if i simply map the domain? Plus, i have bought the $99 subscription to wordpress, so i don’t want to keep on paying UK2net to host my domain, i would like to cancel with them and transfer it all over to you.

    If you could give me a step-by-step guide on how to do this i would be most appreciative.

    Hi Linda,

    We’re not able to accept incoming domain transfers, so the best way to do this is to keep your domain with your current registrar, and map it to WordPress.com, as I see you have already done. The fee for mapping a domain registered elsewhere is $13.00 per year, which is included in your premium upgrade.

    For your site’s pages, the permalinks should redirect if they are the same link structure as those here at WordPress.com. So, if your old Contact page was http://llassociates.co.uk/contact-us/ (or http://www.llassociates.co.uk/contact-us/ ), it will redirect to your new one, but if it was http://llassociates.co.uk/contactus/ , it will currently result in an error. However, you can rename your WordPress.com page http://llassociates.co.uk/contactus/ and still edit the menu tab itself to read Contact Us.
