How to sign up UT Quest?

From this point on, there will be ongoing homework submitted through the website host UT (UT Quest).
 The first step to access the online assignments is to apply to get an ID, EID, from the website host, University of Texas.
Then you logon to sign up Mrs. Riegert’s class/course. The access is free of charge for LPHS students. We have paid the annual
fee for LPHS. (Disregard the notice of payment)
 Next step is to sign up for his course. You need to logon with your EID, select the course that I created for this class. These
course numbers are posted in my classroom. Once I receive the application and give you approval, you will have the access to
assignments.
 Keep in mind that these online assignments have very strict deadline. Note that the assignments will be closed for submission
after the deadline.
 You will have 7 chances for the free-response questions and multiple chances for multiple-choice questions.

How to sign up UT Quest?
Step 1 of 6: Go to https://idmanager.its.utexas.edu/eid_self_help/
Click “Get a UT EID”
Click “Continue”
Circle “no” for all questions and click “Continue”
Step 2 of 6: Fill out the personal information in boxes, leave the “ID Card Number” blank,
and then click “continue”
Step 3 of 6: Answer three questions and click (continue).
This will allow you to retrieve or change your password later.
Step 4 of 6: Create a password to your UT Quest account.
Step 5 of 6: Check your information and then click “Create My UT EID”
Step 6 of 6: You’ve got the UT EID!!! Logon with your EID and sign up the class Mr. Riegert created for
Physics students.

How to Answer Questions and Input Numbers with Scientific Notation?
(a) Numeric input: On "numeric" questions, you input ONE NUMBER -- integer,
decimal or scientific notation. Do not include commas or spaces in numeric answers.
(b) Significant digits and precision
To be scored as correct, an answer must be within 1% of the computer's answer
(except for an answer of zero, which must be exact). You will be informed of any
exceptions to this tolerance.
The computer carries out all calculations to at least six significant digits. Do not
round off intermediate calculations or your final answer. Six digits are shown in
solutions.
(c) Scientific/Engineering notation ("times 10 to the power")
Very large or very small numbers may be input with "scientific notation," e.g.,
+3.56e-10, which is 3.56 times ten to the negative tenth power. However, 468 (or
468.0) is just as good as +4.68e+02 or +4.68E+02
Homework (UT Quest) will be assigned almost every day and will be given a due date/time. If you have difficulty with them,
come in and see me before they are due. Typically, a free 1 day extension will be granted, if requested the day the homework is
due. Assignments that do not meet the online submission deadline must be turned in on paper and are subject to a late penalty
of 5% per day up to the last day of the grading period.
If you have difficulty getting this done at home due to computer and/or connectivity issues, please use a library computer,
check a computer out, or stay after and use one of my classroom computers.
