Instructions for enrolling in Quest online homework. Go to the Following website. https://quest.cns.utexas.edu

*Click on Log in to Quest *Click on I need a UT EID *Create a UT EID Make sure you answer questions correctly and use a real email address. If you ever forget your password this is the only way it can be retrieved. Write down your ID and password!!! *Go back to the login page and login using your new EID and password. The login page must be the same as above to get to the Quest homework. If you log in on the page you finish on when you make the EID, you will not be able to enroll in my class. https://quest.cns.utexas.edu The UT EID can be used to log in to other UT sites that will not link to my page. *Click on enroll in new course

The course unique number is Dr. J's Chem I Enter the unique number and request enrollment. There may be more than one class attached to that unique number, check the pull down menu and choose the correct teacher.

Quest online homework questions are worth ten points. This is how points are awarded, depending upon the question type. Multiple Choice questions Question with 10 choices Try Correct 1 +10 2 +7.78 3 +5.56 4 +3.33 5 +1.11 6 -1.11 7 -3.33 8 -5.56 9 -7.78 Question with 6 choices

On Numeric questions you will be given 7 attempts, on a 10 point question you will receive the following points on the question based on the number of attempts you use. 

First: 10



Second: 9.3



Third: 8.65



Fourth: 8.04



Fifth: 7.48



Sixth: 6.96



Seventh: 6.47 When submitting a numeric answer make sure you are using an integer, decimal or scientific notation and do not use spaces or commas. Unless otherwise indicated, to be scored as correct your answer must be within 1% of the correct answer, the Quest system will calculate answers to at least six digits. For most problems in Quest the system does not calculate based off significant figures. You can use scientific notation for very large or very small numbers. For example within Quest you could write 468 as 4.68e+02.
