Create a Quest account
Hi, I’m Michael. I’m an admissions officer at the University of Waterloo.
Today I’m going to walk you through how to log onto your Quest account.
Now Quest is found online at the University of Waterloo’s website. It is the student
system that allows you to review your application; it allows you to look at your personal information
and change any information; it allows you to complete an Admission Information Form;
and allows you to see your status. Before you use Quest, you have to create a password.
When you apply to the University of Waterloo,
you’ll receive an e-mail from us, and in that e-mail you’ll receive a unique 8-digit
Waterloo ID number. Then you use that ID number to create an account
on our website WatIAM. I’ll walk you through the steps now.
There are 3 steps to creating a password.
Step 1, you’ll create your password on our WatIAM site.
To create your account on WatIAM, click on Account Activation and you’ll have a menu that’ll
lists your last name, your student ID number, and your date of birth,
which is the month, date and year. Click continue.
Then you’ll have to log in with your unique 8-digit, student ID number, and click save and continue.
Step 2, you create your password.
You have to make sure you put in your student ID number that is unique to you, as well as
your password. Once you figure out a password that works
for you, and you’re going to remember, click save and continue.
Please note that we have a set of rules for passwords that have to contain numbers, digits and special characters.
Once you’ve created a password, you’re going to get a set of security questions.
Now those security questions are a list of many of them you fill out a few of them and
write down those answers. You’ll need those answers in case you ever get locked out of the system.
Once you put in your answers to those security questions,
click save and continue. Step 3, you review your user profile.
You click and enter into the WatIAM website. You’re going to get a set of instructions.
You can change your password; you can change the answers to authentication/security questions;
and you can update your profile. When you click on updating your profile, you’re
going to have a list of your personal information again - your userid, name, student id and
date of birth. Now if your date of birth is different, you’ll have to change it on the
Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) site.
After clicking continue, you’ll see your new Waterloo userid. You’ll use that Waterloo
ID to log onto Quest from then on. Go to uwaterloo.ca/quest and login.
Once you’re in Quest, you can fill out your Admission Information Form.
The Admission Information Form or AIF is very important for your application, because it
contains information that wouldn’t ordinarily be found in your academic transcript.
Please note that some scholarships depend on the completion of your AIF, so make sure
you’re filling that out, saving each tab, and clicking submit.
That’s all! Thanks so much and good luck with your application.
