First of all I would like to state that this post comes in a few parts: sorry for the length.
Okay, I am assuming that all posters on this thread are gamers. now keeping that in mind I do know there is a certain amount of tech knowledge among PC and platform gamers. Correct me if I am wrong but if you encounter an error, such as the one being bitched about in this thread, you try to duplicate it at another source as a troubleshooting step to determine the source. (ie: ahdunno like logging into PSN from your computer maybe?). And just maybe if you had tried that you may have discovered that the login servers are down for maintenance. WOW! Maybe that might be what was causing the booting issues (working theory only, not confirmed in anyway by Sony).
But how could there be issues with a login server? They were only being maliciously attacked by people protesting Sony for suing someone for SELLING MODIFIED VERSIONS OF SONY'S COPYRIGHTED FIRMWARE. (there may be some sarcasm in there HOPE YOU CAN FIND IT) If the idiot wasn't selling it he would have gone the way dark alex. did you honestly think they weren't gonna get him.... morons. I usually like to keep myself neutral until I see a thread that is full of ignorance and dumbassery such as this one and count this as a reply towards anything related to the idiot that Sony is currently suing for the SALE OF THEIR MODIFIED AND COPYRIGHTED FIRMWARE. So please tell me that you aren't seriously thinking that Sony is the bad guy in this one. If you ever get a chance to talk to a hacker or read some of the original "hacker doctrine" you will find it is all in the exercise of FREE ACCESS to information. (Free as in no limits to the access as well as sharing it to the world for FREE, or at no charge) So it is entirely his fault that he allowed his greed to get the best of him. and now he has to deal with it.
And for all you X-box 360 readers on these forums who like to criticize PS3 users every time there is some issue pops up for those of us in Sony's "camp", GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSES YOU DUMB BASTARDS. I have but one thing to say to you, FAILURE RATE!!!. X-Box still has the higher failure rate straight out of box than the PS3. most x-box's will fry if you leave them on for an extended period my ps3 has been on for practically 3 years almost entirely nonstop and no issues with hardware failure at all. I have been forced to reboot all of three times. And to those of you saying it has outsold the ps3. it is because you people are not realizing that Microsoft is not reporting replacement sales properly they are reporting it as a new sale. And yes I will admit I am PS3 biased but I can remain objective there are games that I do enjoy on X-Box. I have enjoyed alot of the halo releases the perfect dark release for 360 was alot of fun, just to name a couple.
Wow! I feel so much better.
Thank you for your time
