i think this tread is 2 years old or something why don’t you try youtube or Veoh for a cheap fast solution or if you have some cash to spare try gnomonology or digitaltutors
Gnomonology, digital tutors arent free.I will prefer VTC intro to zbrush3 by Jason Welsh aka cannedmushrooms if someone wants to start learning zbrush. He covers every basic thing.Plus his free lessons are very cool too.
oh ok, good luck then

Jason, Just a big THANK YOU!
Your SSS tut is magic.
Pity the files are no longer around, if anyone knows a working link please let us all know.
THANKS AGAIN!
Stu
Appreciate the reply, you seem to have a good track record for replying to peoples questions, its very honourable. So thank you, I was however referring to the scene file, and perhaps the texture files. Just to cross reference scale, lighting and SSS values and perhaps colour values of your maps with my own scene. Did you ever get around to compiling that scene/textures file?
Another link to download the lessons is on 3D total which is one nice big .zip file so one doesn’t need to hassle with the veoh login and download application etc:

Still experimenting with maya’s SSS shader and not a fan of single pass renders, it seems that that is the route people are taking with maya SSS. Currently with initial tests in maya its feel like there is a loss of texture quality using either diffuse or overall colour as apposed to using a standard material diffuse channel. Its almost like a filter is applied, a slight blur, even though all settings relating to filtering are off.
All the best mate.
Regards
Stu Shapiro.
Almost all lessonfiles can be found here
www.houseoftutorials.net/lessonfiles
but the file you want is Here
Amazing, Thank you !
So Nice lessons. I like it so much good posting i think. I am excited to watch lesson 4, sadly there seems to be a 3 hour download time.
Thanks.
I tried to watch your tutorials at work but I cant install the player that is required to see them. I´ve got 64 bits xp here and the player installation says that I must install the application on xp or vista. You have any idea how I can fix this? I really want to see those videos.
VLC player is the best for any video viewing issue
Most of my vids are in MOV nowadays H264 compression.
So ya for a PC you’ll need VLC player to view.
It has the float on top of program feature to make tutorials easy to view.
Or you can go quicktime with mediaplayer classic workflow
The problem is that I can´t download the full video without Veohwebplayer, and I can´t install that player on my 64 bit system for some reason. Do you have any other dl links?
As it is now I can only see a 5 min preview
ohh
Go to house of tutorials.net (link below)
go to the season of Zbrush you want to watch in full res.
Hit the login as guest button
look for the “High res videos” link at the bottom of the page.
there you will find your prize
veoh sucks nowadays
I use YoutubeHD and mediafire for my downloadables since veoh has so many ads and the quality is cut in half.
Tubesucker also works to download from youtube if you want to go that route.
Hope that helps
Yeah that helped, awesome. Began watching your photoshop tutorials aswell, good stuff. It´s really helpfull for me right now since Zbrush sculpting and Digital painting in photoshop is the only parts in 2d/3d that I have not explored yet, and I´m determined to learn it all your videos will help me reach my goals much faster than I thought, thanks
Hey Cannedmashrooms,
I cannot say much at the moment because i have seen just 1 lesson but i must say this tutorial seems to be brilliant. I think not everyone can explain difficult things in such a easy way.
I have just one question about tablets. Do you work on a big one like A4 or just small? I have never used any and would not like to buy something which actually make my life harder than easier. Which tablets are better?
Thanks for answers in great tutorials =))
My favorite is a intuos 4 small.
Its compact / portable / and it doesn’t function as a serving platter when not in use.
Drawing linear straight lines and curves seem to be easier since from point A to Point B, the size of the line is shorter on a smaller tablet.
Stay away from bamboos, not enough pressure sensitivity.
Take the money and buy the best because its not something you have to update every year. A good tablet will last you years.
Hey cannedmushrooms and everyone =)
I have opportunity to borrow an old (I think) Wacom Graphire 3 from my friend. I have never used any so this will be quite fresh experience
Thanks for suggestions =)
