My local branch turned an initial issue into a positive outcome. The immature and whiny "man" that answers the 888 customer call line hung up on me because of my tone. My tone was because they cancelled my card again (due to suspicious activity) and bothered me at work for 2 days with texts and nonsense calls wanting me to CONFIRM all my bank information over the phone. They questioned me on a charge of $0.00 dollars and couldn't confirm the place it came from, yet asked me if i made that charge... LOL. I called the bank back after being hung up on, and got "MR. ATTITUDE" on the line. He cried about my tone as well. WAHH. I HAD TO LEAVE WORK TO GO GET A NEW CARD AT THE LOCAL BRANCH. Turns out someone in london tried to verify my card. No charges were made. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN SOLVED ON THE TELEPHONE had a qualified ADULT answered the call.
Used this bank for about 2 months both myself and 2 of my children moved to this bank, as soon as an issue arose they revealed their true face. My daughter had a pay card from her job that worked fine for several weeks everywhere but when she tried to use it Washington Trust on a Saturday and the ATM would not accept her pin and would not return the card after 3 times. She immediately went inside and informed the head teller of the issue and was told that the bank could do nothing about it even though they a key to the machine available. My daughter would need to contact the bank on Monday but the bank policy is to destroy any card that is not a Washington Trust card held in the machine. My daughter left her information and asked to be contacted when they retrieved her card. My daughter called early Monday morning as was told that the card was shredded, a card they knew who it belonged to and that it was her pay card with all her money on it. A new customer of 2 months. We immediately complained sent the complaint to the corporate head quarters was basically told too bad. We immediately closed all accounts and went elsewhere.
Fire the gork already: the stock is down over 40% for the year. Mr. Handy has butter fingers. I would not invest in this pseudo hometown bank, with its impersonal service: (though i will say impersonal is just the way biz is done now) The top tier has got to go: The leadership has really set this bank back to the ice ages: peep the 5 year (hindsight is 20-20 stock price), stock is down 54%? Just a side note, I have not seen any of their commercials lately.
A Private Mom and Pop Family Bank. They have issues with their App. and website. 3rd Party cookies need to be enabled on their website for certain functions to work. Good design on there website and App. App has issues with Bill Pay. If If your looking for a locally owned bank that is not a big bank. This is it
Customer service is cold and unavailable. In attempting to close an account, we have been given bad information that caused us to accrue even more over draft fees. It is without exaggeration that the customer service we received was almost deliberately cruel. Washington Trust never fails to belittle hard working people.
My local branch turned an initial issue into a positive outcome. Prior matters I had were cleared up over a phone call in a matter of minutes. I also received a personal note in the mail Welcoming me & offering to assist in the future. Thank-you WTB for your Customer Service!
This bank struggled to get the right amount due at closing. We thought that the bank agreed to a refund of assorted fees not ordered. Choosing to Trust this bank with Trust in their name, we paid the loan off. Washington Trust Bank decided not to honor their agreement. The team member we worked with was labeled with no authority to make any offers to us. Basically, Washington Trust Bank received a payoff and they no longer were obligated to refund any monies to us

UPDATE: WA Trust just called me and this tech dude Sam was like, dude I got you, those other peeps didn't know what was up. 2 minutes later we're integrated with Quickbooks. Crisis averted. Can't believe they randomly called me back. I went from super pissed to...impressed.
New Business App doesn't integrate with Quickbooks. I contacted them via phone and chat and they had they actually downplayed how many quickbooks users there are...and would be affected... it was very uhm crazy and disappointing.
They said maybe someday they'll have that "features"... oh, you mean the 1 thing that every single QB user needs...The QB integration to download and reconcile transactions? Yeah kinda important.
I'm not forced to shred $300 worth of checks, blow half a day going into a new bank and setting up a new account and switching over all of my auto pay and account routing stuff.
Thanks Washington Trust for eliminating the 1 feature I actually used with your new improved software that essentially does nothing for me. You really should have waited a month till you had QB Integration even if you're only a regional bank.

I have been a customer of Washington Trust for almost 20 years. I have several accounts with them including business and personal. We have a credit rating of over 800 and the bank recently contacted us about a great deal to lower the interest rate on my equity line and increase the line, all we had to do was come in and sign the papers which we did. Next thing we know they are asking for tax records P & L's on my business, etc. Turned into a complete nightmare! The increase in my creditline was only $30k and I have well over $200k in equity in my house alone. Could not believe what they put a loyal customer of 20 years with excellent credit through for something that was suppose to be just a signature. We are now leaving this bank and looking for one that can appreciate our worth and credit history.
I switched to another bank out of necessity when moving, but had virtually no problems with Washington Trust during my time with them. I had one minor issue obtaining some temporary checks when waiting for a new booklet, but that was resolved in less than five minutes talking to a teller and was really the only problem I had with them over the course of a decade.
Fees are clearly defined up front, but in many cases if dealing with a representative in person later on, they will reiterate what you are agreeing to during some transactions to double check and make sure you don't get blindsided by anything. Very cordial and were they more of a presence in my current location, I'd probably still be with them.
