Poster reports that the app is basically nonfunctional, always getting the error "could not retrieve host information. credentials and check your internet connection"

Samsung GT-19295 S4 with android 4.2.2

Richard has tried complete uninstall and reinstall, same behavior. Support has been offered in https://www.warmshowers.org/node/54231; Nothing has actually helped.

Hello, excuse me for my bad English. I have a problem forsearch with the application on my samsung GT-19295 S4 with android 4.2.2.and the same on my galaxy tab 2
when I want to search I receive this message "could not retrieve host information. credentials and check your internet connection"
I tried to uninstall and dellete all information cached and then to install but for now it does not change anything.
my internet connection is active and my username and login too. you have any solution?

Updated the post above with current information. Richard has faithfully tried all suggestions so far.

Richard, please try on a different network. If you're using your mobile provider for internet, please try configuring your phone for wifi on a wireless network. It could certainly be that your provider is blocking warmshowers.org somehow.

Can you access Warmshowers.org via the browser on your phone?

So is the problem when using the text search option? In that case, it might be related to #69..

It seems it is, I actually can't use the text search either (seems to have been broken for a few weeks). I will have a look.

Uploaded version 1.3.5 today which should take care of the problems with the text-based search. Let me know if it solves your problem.
